I will never go back to Mike's. Ordered sofa and loveseat and waited the 6-8 weeks. I called after 9 weeks and was told it might be another 4 weeks. 1 week goes by and they call and say my furniture is there and will deliver next week. They deliver but only a loveseat. I was told I only ordered a loveseat. My receipt clearly shows sofa and loveseat. Then they tell me the salesperson wrote the order wrong, the price was clearly wrong and can not get the sofa for probably months. My wife tells them to refund the money. They say ok but it's been 4 days waiting for refund. I've bought from here a lot but this leaves a really bad taste. read more

We ordered a couch in November 2020, due to covid we were told it would be 8-12 weeks. No problem. When our couch was delivered the last week of January 2021 it was damaged in 2 spots. Luckily it was not noticeable from the position it was in. So, we were told that they will order another one and deliver when it came in, should be another 8 weeks. 16 WEEKS LATER we still have not received a call. I call the office, on hold for 11 minutes (which is not uncommon there) and then someone gets on the phone and says, "oh we just got a couple in a few days ago, we will deliver this week." I honestly think they were NEVER gonna call, and they had to figure something out at last minute. Not the greatest communication there. Wouldn't buy from them again. read more

Ordered living room furniture took way longer than was told to have it delivered. When it finally arrived the chairs were wrong. Had to wait for correct chairs to be made and delivered. Then a few weeks later our couch that is hardly used started making noises whenever someone sat on it. I've called several times but no one has ever called me back. read more

I placed an order on the 31 of Dec. With my then boyfriend we were buying the furniture together. We broke up 2 weeks later and I don't need the furniture I called to cancel. Jan 14 I had already put down money. I informed him that I no longer needed and I wanted cancel I was scolded. They have done their part they ordered the furniture that I had ordered but would take 2 to 4 weeks. When I called 2 weeks after I placed the order to cancel I was told that 2 out of the pieces where in already. That the 3rd piece was going to be here the next day.... . So four weeks later I called to set up delivery... Guess what they could only deliver 2 pieces. Because the third piece was the wrong color from my order. It was marked wrong on the box. Really are you kidding me.. you would have known that 2 weeks ago.. So think really hard before making a purchase. I recently purchased a bunkbed here and it turned out that I did not need the bed and wanted to return it only after 2 weeks from purchase date. I never even opened the box or the mattress. They also said that my purchase was special order, but I had to pickup at warehouse 2 days later and salesperson told me its a popular floor model and just didn't have any in stock at time. I don't know if the person I called was a salesperson or customer service, but they were not very nice. Even if they were able to take my return, they want a 35 percent restocking fee, which is absurd. To finish, I spent well over 5k over the years here, hence why I give them 2 stars. I purchased an expensive loft bed for my son from Mike's and was really excited to get it but then weeks and weeks went by after the initial delivery date was moved back. I called numerous times and finally was told that "it just came in"... well they got over on me because when it arrived and was assembled, the bed appeared to be the one off of the showroom floor given the obvious dinges, scratches, and wear and tear that the warehouse manager explained away as shipping damages. After complaining I was offered $100.00 which I took because the bed was already assembled and too much of a hassle to take down but this was plain wrong! If I would have known that they could not get this bed from the manufacturer then I would have selected another unit and still kept my business with them but lying about really turned me off and I will never shop with them again. Of course after my delivery, I went to the showroom and the loft bed that used to be there was gone... well that's because it was at my house! Oh! and to add insult to injury... the delivery guy asked me to use the washroom and took a dump in my bathroom... WOW, this place is amazing! read more

I will NEVER buy from again. Like another Yelper's review, I would give this place zero stars if I could. I purchased a couch with a chaise attachment, and upon delivery everything looked great with the couch. The couch has sewn-in cushions which means you cannot remove them--well after closer inspection the very next day, the backs of the sewn-on cushions were not all the way sewn up. This is not something that you can see unless you really look down into the couch, but after you sit on it the cushions pull away and expose the un-sewn backs of the cushion. If you look down into the cracks between the cushions you can see the white stuffing sticking out. I called the store and they said they would send out a repairman--which they did--but that is all they did. They admitted that this was a factory mistake and that they would fix it. Well that was in November of 2014 and now it's mid-May 2015. They completely gave me the run-around for months and have yet to make up for their poorly constructed merchandise. I want to say how much I appreciate everyone there especially Tracie and Billy! I went in hoping I could get my mom a new recliner and have it delivered fast. My mom had total reconstruction knee surgery and wanted to make it as easy as possible for her to get up with the least amount of pain possible and be comfortable. They were able to let me get the perfect recliner from the show room because they were not in stock and have it delivered the next with an additional discount. I bought this couch a little over a year ago and the leather started to crack in almost every seat. I'm so upset knowing I spent $2000 on a couch that will need to replaced because of the quality. The wood cracked under the foot rest leaving it to stick out and now you can't sit on that seat. I have purchased an awesome king mattress nice quality memory foam with the cool gel top...Like sleeping on a cloud...I also got an awesome leather media sectional for my family room followed by comfy reclining sofa and love seat for my living room but best of all this Furniture store always makes awesome donations to the veterans organizations for lots of fund raisers for our soldiers..I scored this awesome electric recliner at a fundraiser for or vets !! If I could give this dump zero stars I would. My husband and I went there on Saturday to buy a couch and love seat that they had in their ad. The ad clearly said clearance prices PLUS either 24 months financing with zero interest of 5 % off if paid in full at time of purchase. We chose 5 % off. Besides us there were 3 other customers...we had a hard time tracking down a salesperson and when we did she was training someone and was not very helpful. When we decided we would like to purchase the set we were at the counter with the salesgirl and she added up the total. I asked her to please add in the 5% discount and she did. All of a sudden the owner comes out and right away has an attitude and tells us the 5% is already added into the price. I asked him to show me where on the ad does it say that and he couldn't ...instead he closed the ad real fast and told us that's how it is. So basically for $53 he was not willing to budge even though he knew that they either 1. Made a mistake or 2. Just didn't care. We politely told him we were going to pass and started walking away and he got very sarcastic and yelled " Reading is a skill people." EXCUSE ME? How dare you...what kind of OWNER says that to customers? We were willing to buy something from your dirty, dusty store and instead of being grateful for a sale on a prime Saturday when your store is EMPTY , you got ignorant and insulting. Well needless to say we called another furniture store that had the exact same set and they were wonderful and friendly and we spent our money there. Never again will I go to this store. Guess he does not need money or business. Also beware when you are walking through here, they have floorboards set up in the middle between the displays and they were cheaply made and I almost tripped about 5 times. Well Luann D. I tried this business now I'm going to knock it. I went to Mike's with the intentions of buying 2 mattress sets. A sofa and love seat that was on sale for about 2500.00. Also a coffee table that would have come to about 5000.00 in total purchases. The service which was during thier big anniversary sale was terrible. The very young sales girl had no clue what to do. From filling out the paper work to what to charge for delivery. She literally spent a half hr running around the store looking for the owner. All the while he was accross the street tending to his private business. After he finally did make a very unkempt apperance. He was rude and impatient. Needless to say after spending an hour plus doing the paper work and getting screwed out of the free delivery for spending 699.00 or more. I spent over 1200.00 on two mattresses. I did not and will not purchase the rest of the furniture that I was paying cash for. The owner was patronizing and dismissive. And after spending over 1200.00 in cash I wasn't even asked if I would like to register for their 1500.00 shopping spree give away. They did nothing to even try and appease me when I said I would be happy to take my business elsewhere if dilivering to Braidwood would be to much trouble. By the way the young sales woman seemed terrified of her boss. We really felt bad for her. And the mattresses will take 2 weeks to come in. Need I say more Luann. Despite the bad reviews this is a good local family business. They stuck by their extreme value center of furniture. I bought furniture from this establishment about 4 years ago and Billy worked with me to get something new and more durable. Very patient employees with good morals and values for the customer. Very large showroom floor with many options styles and pricing. Delivery/Shipment dates are reasonable according to their in store stock. Browse the Kiosk inside of the store it is a Plus. Sold me a less than perfect table. The legs are completely uneven but were on carpet at the store and I did not notice how uneven they were until I got home and stood it up on my hard tile floor. The tabel has 6 legs four of the legs do not touch the floor. Once I flipped the table over some of the screws were missing out of the bottom. One screw was not screwed in all the way so my husband screwed it in the rest of the way and yes it was not the correct sized screw and it cracked the other side of the wood. So now we have a wobbly cracked table and the store would not take it back because it was the floor model. The associates were very nice however I would take quality furniture over nice people any day. read more

So we order our couches pay for them and the sales lady says your couches will be delivered in 3 to 4 weeks ... 8 weeks later our couches come they take the plastic of they look ok ... about an hour later i'm sitting on the floor with my daughter and notice a hole on one of the couches .. i look at the other couch , i found at least 7 wholes and stitching that is just coming off !! Furniture shopping again, stopped at Mike's in Joliet...sales guy was not too bright. We found the desk unit and media center that we wanted...sales guy wrote down the price...went to check on a cash discount, came back saying the manager knocked a few bucks off...somehow the total was HIGHER than the original!!! The sales guy was clueless. The manager, crooked, dishonest man that he is, stood by his math but couldn't explain why the price was now $100 more. We took our $1800 to another store and bought the exact same stuff for $1500. Mike's dishonest dealings cost them money but saved us money!! read more

I had purchased a furniture set from Mike's 2 years ago. On one of the pieces (a sofa) we experienced excessive wear on one of the seats 3 sections which only received moderate wear and use. Same use and wear on the other sections as well as a LAZY boy type chair but only this one section of the couch was affected. Clearly unacceptable. It was determined that that particular section had a product defect in the material. Billy from the store helped us navigate a very long process working with the manufacturer over 3 months from start to finish. The official "warranty" on the sofa from the manufacturer had expired but Billy worked tirelessly and diligently with the final outcome being we received a brand new replacement from the manufacturer. The color shade is off slightly but I'm not going to complain there are differences in color runs of couches and we understand that. I'm just thankful for all the work and effort put forth here and that I have a great furniture piece again. Thank you very much Billy and the fine folks over at Mike's! read more
