I've been to the location in Orland Park and I believe that one is shut down now. I came here over the week and browse around what they had. The store is great, there's so many great finds too actually at great prices but I do not like the lack of variety it offers. It's mainly just mostly furniture and some decor. Shopped today...signs on doors requiring masks and younger staff compliant but supervisor/manager totally noncompliant and gives wise guy answers when asked to put on mask. Shelves had scant amount of merchandise-is this place on the way out?! Some merchandise broken and/or very outdated. Prices high compared to Goodwill or Habitat or other local competitors. Suggest spending your money and shopping time elsewhere unless you're seeking a smart-mouth wise guy. read more

I like the store but it is a bit pricey. It is large, well lit and the aisles are usually big enough to move around safely. They have numerous items but knick-knacks are often broken. I know shoppers can be sloppy and irresponsible but there are many items just set on top of one another. The same goes for the frames, prints and pictures. Many are scuffed up because they are out of room and jammed together. They have some vintage items and solid furniture. It is definitely an interesting and useful store. They purchase items from the public but you do not receive much money for said items. I have sold a few things there that were not sold during a garage sale. I reccomend stopping in but do not be surprised by the prices. read more

New uses in Crest Hill is a great secondhand store if you're looking for those little treasures like collectibles and antiques or just being a thrifty shopper it's the place you want to shop there seems to be a collection of old, new and in between items of all sorts from tools, artwork, furniture and small appliances you name it and they'll probably have it on one of your visits on two of my visits I found artwork for my powder room. the staff seems very friendly and helpful read more

New Uses - Thrift Stores Near Me - Crest Hill, Illinois

This place is a conundrum. While it's definitely on the higher end of budget resale shops, there's a pawn shop atmosphere that hangs around it. Their furniture selection is seriously huge and full of lots of great pieces, but the pricing is higher for a second hand shop of this kind than it should be. Their housewares selection is decent, but pales in comparison to most Goodwill locations. They do, however, have a massive used media selection. Being next to Disc Replay is probably the reason for this. read more

This store is generally a good stop. The merchandise is hit or miss and the pricing is generally fair. I've bought a table there. That being said, I've NEVER been greeted by the employees when walking in, even if I'm the only one in the store. Strange! read more

This store is truly a gem. I found a chair and artwork there that looked brand new and are perfect for my house, as well as some kitchen appliances at great prices. My first experience here was a nightmare to say the least. I got there around the time that they were opening I saw one at the employees Park in the spot closest to the store which should be available for customers were bringing in their stuff. After seeing her park there I noticed her throwing trash out of her car into the parking lot. Then when I went inside the employees seems like they did not want to be working there. Employees have attitudes, and very unfriendly to say the least. Also very slow, it took him over 15 minutes to look up three items. I was the first person to walk in the door when they opened but yet they were taking care of other people before me. they make you sign a piece of paper saying that if they damage something it's not their fault... But when I'm in there I noticed the manager kicking around somebody else's box of stuff. Very unprofessional and will not be back.. also they State they give you 28 to 50%, which is not correct. read more

The owners Dave and Tina are great people. Dave went through each aisle with me personally and helped me furnish my entire apartment. He helped me out with some extraordinary deals and even hooked me up with a pair of sunglasses after I complimented his. At the end of the shopping spree Tina rang me up and was extremely polite. Dave and Malik even helped me bring everything into my car which was really nice because some of it was really heavy. When I got home and set up all my new furniture and decor I couldn't believe how great my place looked. They get some really cool things at the store and Dave really knows how to put together a beautiful home. As I continue settling into my place I will definitely be coming back to catch some more deals and the hospitality of new uses. Couldn't recommend more. read more

We showed up with a couple of boxes of items an hour and half before closing on a Sunday. They were swamped and didn't think they could get to them that day, so we decided just to come back and see what they'd take the next day. Not an issue. Since we were there, I decided to walk around the store and see what kind of things they had. Honestly, I've seen nicer items at Goodwill for less than half the price. The store was trashed, you could barely walk in the front door with the amount of things waiting to be asessed for sale. Unimpressed by their current inventory of nicked up 80s armchairs, clown pictures, unicorn statuettes, and non-programmable flowery crockpots, I figured our stuff was solid gold because it was in good shape and actually current on the decor front (Pier 1, Crate & Barrel, West Elm, etc). Apparently, I was wrong. They decided to only take what I considered to be our "crappy" items that I thought would just be donated if they passed over them. We ended up returning home w/ most of our items rejected and a whopping $20 for the few items they did take. Perhaps the buying person has terrible taste? I'm going to give the Aurora store a shot and see if perhaps they have better taste. If you have a house full of 70s and 80s tchotchkes, you might make out like a bandit! The employees were definitely nice enough, so I'll give them that. read more

First visit today. Was disappointing to say the least. Dirty, used over priced furniture. Out of style and dated decorations. A pressed chip board end table for $60 bucks? Water stained with old dry food still on it, beyond gross. All I could think of was a drug addict bringing in their beat up junk to get a few dollars to get cash for their next fix. In turn the store will resell it for 20X their cost and value of the junk they just bought. If some effort to clean and organize was done. Not filled with over priced used junk this would be a good store. Save your time and money. read more

I was so excited to see New Uses open a store in Joliet, as I love stopping in at their Aurora store. The Joliet store is messy, dirty, disorganized, and the people ignore you when you walk in. There is great potential in that location. Too bad. read more

WORST SHOPPING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE - I'm sorry that ZERO stars isn't an option. Short version - Dark, cluttered store with horrible customer service - I paid for an item set and was told I could pick it up later in the week, 2 days later I was told that the sale was an EMPLOYEE ERROR and I would need to pay DOUBLE if I still wanted the items - Staff members were more concerned about having me describe the clerk who ran my previous transaction than they were in any form of customer service to me that night. Also, the store is NOTHING like their website description. Nothing here resembled boutique type resale. More like the chipped and dusty remnants of a community garage sale. I'm a firm believer in recycling and upcycling, but do yourself a favor and find a cleaner, friendlier resale store to shop at - I know I plan to... Long version - I browsed the store on Sunday afternoon in an effort to kill time - My impressions of the store were: small, dimly lit, musty smell, cluttered shelving, tight aisles and a floor that actually sloped downhill toward the back. Many items needed cleaning and some actually had dust enclosed in the shrink-wrap they use to display items. Surprisingly, I found a set of plastic outdoor planters. I could not find a price on either, and my boyfriend spent the next 5 to 10 minutes trying to attract a staff member and get assistance. A young male staff member searched for a price and finally found a tag on one planter - "There's only one tag so they're a set," he said "they're $40. Do you want them?" I decided that yes, I did want them. But, I could not fit them in the car we had with us. The Sales Clerk (a young woman) said that was not a problem and that the store would hold them for my return later in the week. My boyfriend purchased them for me and we returned on Tuesday evening to pick up the planters. When we attempted to pick up the items, a female Sales Clerk asked for the receipt - which we provided. She then asked if we had the OTHER receipt. "What other receipt?" I asked. "This is only a receipt for one, I need the receipt for the other one." We quickly explained that we had purchased them as a set - how we had asked for a price check, etc,etc. "Well he made a mistake," she said and proceeded to ask a number of questions about the staff member who had assisted me on Sunday (frequently speaking to the other staff member who was working several feet away) "We'll need to have a talk with him" she concluded. I felt like I was interrupting her discussion of store training issues to pull the topic back to my purchase. I asked what they were going to do about my item pickup - and she told me nonchalantly that I would just have to pay for the other one - ANOTHER $40 - This would mean a bargain resale store price of $80.00 for 2 USED PLASTIC PLANTERS! I said, "So let me follow the logic here...I asked for a price, was told a price, and paid for my purchase. If I had left that day with my purchase, that would be it..." The male staff member at this point interjected "Well we can't just let merchandise WALK OUT OF THE STORE" That is apparently the NEW USES customer service ethic - attempt to make a paying customer feel like an attempted shop-lifter, when the customer seeks resolution to an ERROR made by one of THEIR EMPLOYEES. At this point the female staff member offered to give a refund, and in a state of disbelief (and the strong urge to leave the store and NEVER return) I accepted. She then asked us to FILL OUT A FORM with personal information, reason for return, etc. "Why do you need all this?" my boyfriend asked. "It's for the system," she replied "don't worry we don't sell your information." ...I have no words for this level of disconnect in customer service But for the coup de'grace, she actually ended by handing me a $5 off coupon for a future purchase within 7 days. This store is great. Like a high end good will- ha! If that makes sense. Nice used items at a fair price. Very unique finds. Better items than the Aurora location. I would not sell my items there. You get 1/3 of what they would sell it for. I brought in an original oil painting and they offered me $6. So not great for selling but good for buying. read more

I've been there a few times, and I love the idea of it..."another man's trash is another man's treasure" right? Anyway, our family gets together on Christmas, and we play white elephant. So we go to that store. One time, we bought a clown clock, clown dolls, special edition China plates, and much more!
