I went to Home Depot and waited 1/2 hour for someone to be available to help me just to find out that I had specialty keys they couldn't duplicate. Went to their recommended locksmith, who also couldn't do it. After 4 more locksmiths I called Mike and asked him if he thought he may be able to help me. Among other things, our house keys were stolen during an overnight car burglary. We worried about the burglar now having access to our home. Mike arrived the same day we called and replaced six locks on three exterior doors. Before proceeding, he provided price estimates which included an option of having existing locks rekeyed which would have been less expensive. For cosmetic, safety, reliability, and included lifetime warranty reasons, we selected all new hardware. Mike worked steadily for about 2.5 hours. His work included making door and fitting adjustments. We ended with Mike demonstrating each of the eight keys worked as did all locks perfectly. Total price paid was $535.30. Just had Mike come and help me with a lock to a condo unit that I lost my keys to. (Lost them on a trip, and I had spares to all but that one!) He said he wanted to try and pick it first, and gave it a great try... but in the end he had to drill the lock. Before he did so, he assured me that he had a replacement lock cylinder with him, and he did. He drilled the lock, Opened the door, replaced all the damaged parts, and had the existing lockset working like a champ again in under an hour. Then I went to pay him, and realized that I didn't have my checkbook. He reassured me that happens, and followed me over to the 7-11, where I could pay him in cash! He even gave me a coffee mug, some other things to help me with my "big" clean out job that I have to do, and went happily on his way. I hired this company based on the positive reviews. Mike is very nice and quick. However, he swapped out an antique door lock to my entrance door, allowing me to only be able to lock my door from the front of my home. He admitted I could easily lock myself out and will need to be careful. Unfortunately, it's not useful to be able to only lock my front entrance door from the outside. I really wished that was communicated beforehand as I would not have opted for this; had no idea I had to specify, I wanted to be able to lock my entrance door from inside my home. I was surprised as I provided photos ahead of time and was provided a reasonable initial estimate. Apparently the lock with the cylinder that allows you to lock your door, like a regular door, had a starting cost of 5 times the quoted estimate. I'll stick with the lock he installed until I find something more functional. read more
