I needed to change the locks on my front door. I moved in well over a year ago, but never got around to it (soooo lazy). My paranoia finally got the best of me, so I looked up locksmiths on Yelp and found Mike. My first interaction with Mike's was on the phone, when his wife (?) picked up my call. It was like 5:30 on a Monday night, and she sounded distracted. I wasn't even sure I had called the right place at first. NOT impressed. (But I CAN appreciate the fact that they answer phones throughout the day, since it's hard for me to take care of personal matters during working hours.) So after speaking with her for a couple minutes, she puts me down for a 7am appointment the following Monday. By Sunday evening, I realize I never got a confirmation email or call. Hoping they didn't forget about my 7am appt, I wake up early on Monday anyway. Mike calls me about 6:45am to tell me he's on his way. Phew. He shows up just at 7 and we start talking about options, etc. I honestly thought the appointment be a consultation and that I'd have to schedule another appointment to actually change the locks. But Mike had everything he needed in his truck. I went with the Mul-T Lock, which is a tad more expensive but offers more security. You need a key card in order to duplicate the keys. The set comes with 2 keys and the key card. I needed a few extra copies and Mike graciously offered to bring the copies back to my place later. I didn't even need to stop by his shop! Lastly, there was some issue with the door to my balcony. It'd "lock", but if you pulled hard enough, it'd open. I asked Mike to look at it and he made a tiny adjustment and didn't charge me for it. Thanks Mike! Point is, if you need a trustworthy locksmith, see Mike. If your initial conversation with them isn't great, don't let it bother you. I'm glad I didn't! read more
