The two workers were nice and worked hard however, one of my stairs was damaged during the move (see attached pic). On day of move, Mike's Moving (spoke to wife) was notified about the damage and attempted to waive the credit card use fee ($30) as reimbursement for damage. Really?!?! The only way to repair the damage is to replace the stair nose with a new one.... which would obviously cost more than $30. After much discussion, the wife agreed to send someone in two weeks to replace the damaged stair nose. It been almost two months since the move and I'm still waiting. I chose Mike's Moving because of the positive reviews and for the company being licensed and insured. With the surprising price I paid compared to their initial estimate I was quoted ($325 to $550) the movers being late from the originally scheduled morning appointment I had; and the lack of customer service to replace property damage cause by them; I would definitely think twice before booking and would definitely recommend another moving company. read more

Updated after reading the owners response: I never told him I was happy. I'm just a nice person so maybe he assumed I was happy. I only inquired about another move just to see how much he would charge me after paying him over $800. Sometimes you test the waters to find the true character of a persons integrity. Consumer, notice in his reply he never mentioned how he and his "men" mishandled my stuff. If he wanted to know what and how much stuff he was moving maybe he should've come by to take a look in advance before taking the job. Anywho, it doesn't matter at this point. "IF" you were organized and stacked things properly you would've made better use of your 26' truck in ONE trip. Original Post: The lady who gave me a quote over the phone was really nice but, I was quoted 2 "men", a 26' truck with lift gate and 4 hours. I got what was quoted but little did I know one of the men would be a teenaged young man and a 3rd helper was a little kid about 10 years old. Although the boys worked really hard for their age it took longer than expected and I was charged 3 extra hours over the 4 hours. Total of 7 hours. There was absolutely NO organization. I had all my stuff neatly organized with same sized boxes grouped. all together. My furniture was partially wrapped so all they had to do was cover with moving blankets. Everything was conveniently located in the garage and in the living room right at the front door and only 1 porch step. It doesn't get any more convo to the driveway than that. The one man who did the job was Mike, the owner. Seemed like the move was going fair even though my stuff was literally being stacked any way into the truck I gave them the opportunity to do their job. My thoughts were there must be some sense to the madness. The move was just 2 miles away into a public storage unit down the street. Once they started unloading it just got worse and worse. Stuff was being stacked so unorganized and I quickly realized they were not going to fit everything into my 10' x 30' storage unit. Which BTW, is a larger space than where everything was at my house. I had to rent a 2nd 10' x 30' unit just to fit my things inside otherwise I had no where for my things to go. They had no care for use of space and 2nd unit looked terrible. I kept mentioning organization along the way but, Mike acted like I was bothering him. I had my elderly dad and my service dog with me so my greater concern was to make sure they stayed hydrated inside my car with the a/c on the entire time. The only reason I wasn't as hands on as I would've normally been was because of my dad and my dog. I had no where I could leave them so I was in a very vulnerable position so because of it my personal belongings got mishandled. The next day I went back to try and organize as best possible and found 1 of my expensive custom framed art pieces glass was broken. That was just 1 unit. I haven't even gotten into the 2nd unit yet. It's really hard when I don't have anyone to help me and I paid who was supposed to be professionals CASH only to find out they're service was like I hired a bunch of kids to move my stuff. First I want to start off by saying how amazing our mover Greg was! He really put his all into our move especially after an unfortunate circumstance occurred where the other mover left us abruptly on the job so all we had was Greg. I do have to say that I was worried with one mover, I even tried reaching out to Mike to see if he was sending another mover, but Greg assured us that he would get the job done and boy did he get it done. Greg buckled down stayed professional and got the job done. I do have to say that I didn't think our move was going to be as complicated as it was especially having to take our apartment door off to get our fridge in and having to load our sofa in through our second floor balcony but Greg knew exactly what to do and how to do it. My husband helped with the fridge problem and yea it was a problem because that's not a standard small sized apartment fridge. Yes you hire movers to not help, but given the situation we offered to help and we didn't mind because Greg was working his butt off we wanted to help. We especially needed to help with the sofa loading through balcony problem since we didn't have a second mover but nonetheless Greg was there to get it done and helped tell us how to pull the sofa up once he lifted it to us and he quickly ran up and took over. We THOUGHT we had an appointment with another moving company, and they didn't show due to bad communication. Now I was packed up, and no mover, and a lot of stress. Called Mike's and they were able to come the next day. Good communication but the BIGGEST deal is the mover's themselves...Brandon and Daniel. SUPER clean-cut...which was important to me since the other company looked like they were manned by tweakers casing their next heist. So impressed I invited both guys to send my company resumes. I was more than unsettled by hiring movers for the first time (my friends are now--like me--too old for pizza and beer as a thank you for getting a slipped disc), but Mike & his crew did a superb job troubleshooting when my house's driveway was perched too high and did a great job wrapping up my glass curio and shelves. I hired Mike's Movers to move the contents equivalent of a one bedroom apartment. I was told the movers would bring plastic wrap, blankets and tape to wrap my furniture for protection and all tools needed to take apart and assemble my furniture, 90% of my contents were in 12 Rubbermaid containers, also a 4 post Queen Bed, dresser, living room accent chair, living room accent table, small dining table with 4 dining chairs, 2 recliner living room chairs, 3 large paintings, 43" TV, large wall clock and approximately 15 large shopping bags. Upon arrival the movers advised me they did not bring plastic wrap to wrap my furniture NOR did they bring tape so the blankets could be secured around my furniture. They talked about going to the 99 cents store to get tape after asking me if I had any?! But they never went. They were more concerned about the 15 shopping bags that were there than the fact that they didn't have the correct tools to protect my furniture then about an hour into loading the items into the truck they began to disassemble my bed and realized they didn't bring the correct tools either!! Thankfully my friend was there and he offered his tools for the movers to borrow. Mike ensured with the little amount of furniture I had, it should have only take his movers no more than 1 hour to load the items and get to the new place. We were at 2 hours at the old place and the movers were still there!! We were finally ready to leave, and the movers said "we cannot transport your plant or TV, it's our policy" no problem I said, I'll take them in my car! At the new place the movers busted their butts to get everything unloaded and assembled within that ONE since I had only been quoted for a 3 hour job. I had been in contact with the office the entire time, sharing my disappointment throughout the move. The time went over by 10 minutes and I was told "as a courtesy I wouldn't be charged?" I had made it very I had no intention of paying any more than the initial $399 for the job. Fast forward 2days and I'm unpacking items and I get to my wall clock (that's pictured) I find that's it's broken in the back, I immediately call MIKE and speak to him about it, first he claims I waited too long to call, I said it wasn't even 36 hours? Second he said it's not their policy transport clocks! I said your drivers did. The drivers admitted transporting the clock, but they said it was already broken!! MIKE said he wasn't going to turn it into his insurance company because they would question why they went against policy. Blake and Mike - These gentleman were most courtous, meticulous friendly and hardest working guys that have ever moved me. Greg and Lee showed up on time and toured the house to see what all needed to be moved. I wasn't as ready as i should have been but they went the extra distance and helped a lot. They pre-wrapped all my furniture and loaded everything into the truck. I was discussing the amount of time with my wife and one of the movers mention how long he estimated it was going to take, which was over the 4 hours. We used Mike's Moving twice in the last month, first as we were staging our house for sale, then to move out the furniture, partly to storage and partly in the LA area. We have been really happy with the moving teams each time. In the second, bigger move, Joe and Donnie worked really really hard and fast, beating our time expectations by a lot, even though the move was quite a big bigger than we had estimated (stuff tends to pile up in corners and closets, you know, more than you think!) They arrived bright and early at 7:30, as scheduled, and got right to it. They had the truck loaded with the stuff that needed to move. Impressively, they managed to sort the stuff at our storage unit, then fit everything into the one we had (I had actually reserved a second unit to be sure we'd fit, and save packing time, but they did it with ease). Then a good hour's drive to our new place, and they hit the ground running (literally) again. With only two guys, there were the typical small glitches you get with any move. One piece of furniture got a cracked base, and a trash can was overtopped a bit too much and damaged. Carrying the heaviest piece up a doubled-back stair, they did bang the ceiling and leave a few scuffs on the stairs, but just superficial. And even at the end, they were still running! These guys are tough as nails, were cheerful, professional, polite, and paid attention. The moving teams are great, and the price is more than competitive - but be aware that working with the company is a bit odd. You pay a fifty dollar credit-card deposit, which is fine. But you then get an e-mail that says they won't do _any_ packing, which doesn't seem to be true -- but they are not packers, they are movers. And they insist on final payment in cash only. Just be aware. Everything felt like it was on the up-and-up, the price was good and they didn't try any tricks to get the final total higher - but they definitely do things their way. I was so happy I even treated them for a simple Mcdonalds breakfast sausage sandwiches! Lol! Very disappointed with this company! I spoke with Mike, described our house, and told him about an island we wanted to move. The guys showed up with a small truck, spent way too much time trying to stack everything up, and had to leave 2 chairs and no way could fit the island! My husband and I had to go back the next day to get the chairs and a few additional items that wouldn't fit and now have to make other arrangements to get the island. Nothing short of hacks, my two movers busted my ice machines water line on my refrigerator! They affirmed to me over the phone that the had appliance dolly for moving my refrigerator and my wood hutch cabinet as well as my wood TV stand! They did not and moved these items with a regular dolly and ratchet straps without epoxy hooks and they did not use a protector like blanket, foam, cardboard to protect the corners and faces sides of my refrigerator, hutch cabinet, TV stand. My refrigerator is 1 year old and they put a puncture/gouge hole in back of my refrigerator, scratched gouged my hutch cabinet, and scratched the hell out of the end edge of my TV stand!!! There were 3 men, one child, and 2 trucks that moved my items from 3 storage units in Riverside, to Cathedral City. The trip did take longer than 4 hours, but the price was still reasonable. They managed to completely fill up the 2 trucks and get All of my items out of storage unit. I packed everything myself and a little more than half of the items were not packed in sealed boxes, and were various sizes. They did pack everything in the truck and unpacked everything after driving it to Cathedral City. Turns out this company is operating illegally. They are not licensed!! I can't say enough good things about Mike's Moving. I received a quick quote with additional information that they were licensed and bonded (which I double checked). This is not the case with many other companies (which I also checked). On the moving day, we received an approximate time of arrival (between 11-12) and, indeed, at 11:50 the truck and two movers arrived. The way these guys worked was amazing. They loaded up our 4BR, 1650 square foot house in two hours while still being careful with our belongings. Likewise, at the other end of the move, they had the truck unloaded in less than two hours. It's hard to believe they completed that amount of work in 4 hours, but they did. This was the best money that we could have spent to make our move easy and speedy.
