My Italian Grandmother from Calabria says the food from here is like she used to eat in the old country. Everything was fresh and delicious.

I stopped in after hearing good things. Liked my first two visits but tonight disappointed . The young lady with a terrible attitude that works there pretty much threw the small pie I ordered on the table. The pie it self was ridiculously small but Ok . They have the best chicken bacon ranch pizza I've had! The ranch on it is so good! Probably my favorite pizza in the area- the crust is perfect in my opinion. I've also enjoyed some sandwiches I've had here but DO NOT get the empanadas though. That was my bad for getting empanadas from a pizza joint. read more

Placed an order for delivery on a Thursday night and I was a little worried because of past reviews but I'm glad we ordered! We had the chicken gyro platter which was delicious - it comes with fries and they didn't skimp on the chicken. We also had the cheesy garlic bread and it was also tasty. The young lady on the phone was friendly and so was our delivery driver. Will def order a pizza next time to give it a try. Definitely would recommend! read more

wow.. i mean just WOW! i'm floored that this place has a 3.5 star because it was phenomenal. i got fries, ham and salami subs, and a cheese pizza thirty minutes before closing. i'm so picky and everything completely exceeded expectations!! the fries were perfectly cooked, i typically am not a fry person but these were amazing! the sandwich had the freshest ingredients and the best meat i've ever had on a sandwich! i typically get subs at pizza places and this was incredible! and now, the star of the show... the pizza was to die for! i just moved here and have been a mess, stressed out about leaving the only place i've ever known, but this made me feel at home. i could go on and on about mikes, but all this to say that this is going to be a staple for me. keep doing what you're doing! love it! read more

The girls that work the phone and front are rude and need further customer service training. Was waiting a hour for my pizza after I got a text saying it would take 30 mins. Easy review. Took advantage of a bogo deal on Uber and tried Mike's for the first time. Pleasantly surprised at how good this pizza is. Actually some of the best pizza I've had in the area. The crust is perfect based on my preference (thinner), good amount of cheese and it was very flavorful. I will certainly try again. I also really like the customized box. I would recommend everyone stay away from this place as I feel this owner does not deserve our business. So, my order was delivered to me with the wrong ingredients that I had asked for. I called the store simply to see what they will do, and I was told by the cook on site that "we never put parmesan cheese on our meatball parmigana". As if he was telling me I was making it up! Did my uber driver put it on? He INSISTED the store did not mess up my order by adding this cheese which I REQUESTED not be put on my food just incase it was. He kept saying "WE NEVER DO". I told him I didn't put it on, so are you blaming the Uber Driver? He opened up my food and thought it needed some cheese??? He then calls the "owner" supposedly who is NOT "Mike"... so not sure if the place was recently sold or that he really didn't call the owner. The owner basically told me he is at the Zoo with his kids and instructed the guys working at the restaurant to make sure to NOT refund me! Everyone I dealt with here INCLUDING the so-called "Owner" was RUDE and terrible. STAY AWAY!! I don't care if the food is good (which I wouldn't know), but stay away strictly on principle. There are plenty of great Italian restaurants in the area that are owned by well-deserving good people who care about their customers. Me and my sister were in a rush for dinner and decided to revisit Mike's. Our last experience with Mike's was average, but this time we had an excellent meal. We started with a Greek salad, and we both liked it very much. Everything was fresh, there was a generous amount of large sized feta cheese, and the dressing was tangy. I ordered an Eggplant Parmesan sandwich and it was very enjoyable. Firstly it was really large! The prodigious sandwich was served open-faced and immediately I could see the large cutlet of breaded eggplant covered with Marinara and cheese. The eggplant was seasoned well, not too oily, and the chunky Marinara sauce with Mozzarella cheese were both tasty. The sandwich bread was toasty and substantial enough to handle the heavyweight ingredients. My sister ordered the Penne a la Vodka with Chicken and it was delicious. The Penne was cooked perfectly al dente with a pleasant delicate bite. The Vodka sauce was nicely balanced in taste with just enough Vodka flavor contrasted by the Marinara sauce. The pieces of Chicken were moist and flavored well. Finally we added an Impossible Burger to share and I'm happy to say it was just an enjoyable as a traditional burger! The patty looked like ground beef with a similar color to a alightly medium temperature. The texture of the burger was also near that of a traditional burger having a slight crumble to it. Taste wise it was close to traditional ground beef but not nearly as greasy. Think of the Impossible burger being like a burger comprised of a really lean blend (at least 90+% lean beef to 10%, or less, fat). There was a hint of faux meat juice too, but that maybe the grease from the melted cheese. I think the burger's other ingredients of American cheese, mayonnaise, shredded lettuce, red onion, and tomato (all very flavorful) all contribute to making the Impossible Burger taste like a traditional cheeseburger, as those ingredients are so familiar and expected. Don't look past the French fries which were superb. Really crispy on the outside and very warm and soft inside; they were cooked perfectly. This place should definitely have four stars or more. I have been ordering from here going close on two years and the food has always been excellent. Most of the subpar reviews are based on third-party experiences, which is not the fault of the establishment. it's weird to me that somebody would expect to be refunded from the actual restaurant and not from the person who applied the charge to their card. That's like buying a pair of Nikes in Macy's and then calling Nike directly to ask for your card to be refunded lol. I usually just order directly through Mike's and they've always been on time and courteous. I love getting their buy one get one coupons in the mail because everyone knows you can't just get one pizza from here (also, Uber eats has BOGO's sometimes). One of my friends put me on to to this spot and I have been ordering ever since. I've been a customer of this restaurant since it's inception a few years ago. By no means is it a go-to pizza place considering the others in the area, but I would stop by every now and then whenever there were no other options. My review is not about the food (which is average at best), but about the service I received at this establishment. I was asked by a man I'd met in the shopping plaza to buy a meal for him, as he could not afford lunch. I was greeted and served by a lovely young lady upon arrival, he ordered what he wanted, and I got my payment ready. It was when I saw an employee snickering and whispering into the cashier's ear that I became weary, but when that same employee vocalized his apparent disapproval of my supporting the less fortunate that I became against supporting this business altogether. TLDR: The food is mid, the employees are heartless. There's much better (and cheaper!) food in the area for you to support. read more

My Stromboli was served cold...some of the cheese melted on the inside, but some of the cheese did not melt, and some pieces of meet were cold. When I told the guy, he actually told me the Strombolis are supposed to be somewhat cold, and not all cooked, because they are wrapped dough......dude treated the customer like a chump, so he gets one star. Who comes to a pizzeria and orders a salad ? I know,I know crazy! But nonetheless very VERY good. I ordered the chicken caesar salad ( I added my own avocado for FREE 99 once i got home) and it did not disappoint at all! The salad was very fresh and the grilled chicken too! Check in with YELP and they give you a free pizza ( which I had my brother take since im attempting to "diet") and he said the pizza too was great. VERY DISAPPOINTED....we got wings from Mike's. They were dry, hot sauce on the side, no celery and a tiny prepackaged cup of blue cheese for $15...A TOTAL RIP OFF. Compare that to wings at the golden lion 10 GIANT delicious wings with blue cheese (2 if you request it at NO EXTRA CHARGE) and celery for $9.... after you eat 4-5 you're full. We also got a calzone. It always shows up on time and hot (keep in mind I live about 20 mins away). So pleasantly surprised by Mike's Pizza! Sayreville/Parlin/South Amboy has had a revolving door of good-turned-mediocre pizza and pasta delivery-take-out places, so we didn't have super high hopes for Mike's. I am glad we tried it!! We've had burgers, calzones, Stromboli, pizza, pasta, wraps, and garlic bread (I may be forgetting something) and they are all delicious. The only reason why I'm not giving five stars is because the wraps with fries in the same container consistently make them a bit soggy, so that's annoying! Ha. But the taste is still great! So the overall food from this place is pretty good but there have been issues, some of which are really concerning. When I order, I explicitly ask that the food be left on the front porch. Many times, despite my clear directions, the delivery man has gone around my house, up my stairs, and knocked on my back sliding door (I live on the second floor). I have asked multiple times to be texted not called as I'm working but the employee still calls me. Also, I have asked for celery multiple times and only once they delivered. So these aren't major issues but this last one was really upsetting. The delivery man has called me twice complaining about my tip. I select the 20% tip based my order, so no one should be calling me to harass me. So overall, food is okay but customer service is TERRIBLE. read more

First off, thanks for f'in up my diet! I haven't had a proper slice of pizza in months. I just feel that the pizza around here (central jersey) don't warrant the sacrifice I put in to eat clean. Wow!
