I visited Mike's because I knew a friend uses them regularly and really trusts them. In my case, I had an issue with my Honda air conditioning and since I'm fed up with Honda service, I thought I would try a local shop. The very polite woman who answered the phone told me that sometimes they don't have the appropriate equipment to do the work and suggested I run by so that they could check. I did and they promptly check my vehicle then told me they didn't have the equipment necessary. I love honesty! So I'm in Buckley for my daughters wedding, car loaded with everything we needed for a week at a local air bnb and I get a check engine light and a rough engine. Had caliper leak on the rear 74 corvette! When dropping off it was going to be a horrific rainy day! I asked if there was anything they could do about keeping it dryer when it's outside the bay, they said unfortunately there was not! Got the call the car was done at 2pm had to drive through rain swell after pouring down storm from Seattle. Got there and could not find my car in the lot or in the garage. Then noticed a small roof by the residence garage with my car parked underneath! AMAZING, THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE, and shows they care. The brakes worked well to home, will give it a good drive this weekend when it's nicer! My son got his very first car and it broke down soon after. Due to the car having most of it's previous work done at Mike's Shop, we decided to send it there. Amy is who I usually speak to and has always been super friendly and great at keeping us updated. During our last repair the part that came in was not up to par and they even sent it back to ensure my son's car was fixed correctly. My son was able to get his car from the shop a couple of weeks after getting his license, and was super excited. Unfortunately, not even a week later his car broke down again (suspected clutch issue). Costed me thousands of dollars and still had a motor with the original problem and If I want to just spend money and throw parts at problem I could do that at home without the labor costs and the parts markup. It's never a good time when your car breaks down and you're miles from home. But that's what happened to me. Fortunately, I was just a quarter mile from Mike Shop when it happened. My water pump blew out, spewing coolant all over the engine compartment and the ground. I walked back to Mikes, and was greeted by Amy at the front desk. She was cheerful yet empathetic to my situation. She even offered a water container so I could refill my radiator enough to get my Dodge truck back to their shop, which I did. After some questions about my truck, it was determined that they could not fix it right away. So Amy did the next best thing for me, she offered a ride to a local restaurant so I could eat while waiting for my ride back to Tacoma came to get me. How awesome is that?!? And the next morning at 9am, Amy calls me to inform me that my truck is fixed and ready to go! I'm a happy camper! I wish they were closer to home for all my automotive needs, but in Buckley they will remain and I will ALWAYS keep their number handy....you never know where or when you'll need a good wrench with amazing front desk help!
