I have been frequenting this location for over 10 years and can conclude that it is the best liquor store on the Missouri side of the metro and the best of all the Mike´s locations. Instead of a massive, warehouse style shopping experience you get a very well-curated and more than adequate selection of beer, wine, spirits, etc. and the prices are competitive with anywhere else. He made an impromptu tasting and allowed me to purchase a mezcal that is top of the line. Pretty exceptional liquor store. Everything you could probably ever need and then some, and convenient location. Personally I found the staff pretty abrupt, but I wasn't looking to make friends just buy booze. I did hear a lady asking for help and (IMO) not really getting it. But the selection is great. Probably a little bigger than Plaza Liquor, so if selection is more important to you than nice helpful staff this is your spot! read more

There's a reason people in KC often cite Mike's as one of the best liquor stores. It's an unassuming looking building, not huge, but the selection is incredible!!! Horrable experance. So. I didnt bring my id- so i appoligose. But & i dont normaly need it here. But i probly should have brought it. I was just trying not to have a bunch of crap to carry around as we rand down here to grab a 12 pack in the rain. I called first to see if they had curb side available after all it is a pandemic they didnt. So we went down. I foloed the line and waited for one of the guys to be ready. They have this plexy glass and a note that says to ahow them the bat code so i did that and inserted my card. Then dude asked for my id. And i said. "I dont have it on me im sorry would you like me to go get it? Of course hes going to say yes. I know leagly if you ask for an id they " have to" show it to you or you cant sell to them. So i left. And my my male room mate went back  Its a golbal pandemic. And people have been asked to wear masks. The staff oviously dosnt want to come in contact with us. Forcing us to flip the box up so they can scan it.  Behind plexy glass. And avoiding us in aisles (thats great social distainceing is importaint) When he went back and said - hi. I guess my roommate didnt her her id on her so i was just gonna buy that 12 pack she left"   the dude (adoohan according to the tape regester)  was a total ass hole to him. And was like well ya i couldn't see her face. Then made him take off his mask to get rung up. If your gonna do this then you should only do curb side. He then proceded to throw the rerecepet at him.  I really use to like this store. And was excited for it to grow. For years when i lived in brookside i went to mikes there too. And sure the staff might be on edge because of the pandemic but that's no excuse for this behavior. The throwing of the resepet is the last straw. This used to be my go to spot but I feel like with the expansion the service has gone down hill. The guys were always friendly and now it's very non personable and cold. Get your liquor and get out vibe. The expansion and revamp is amazing though nice new additions, but in my honest opinion it was a better experience at the old store. read more

I bought a bottle of tequila for what I thought was $24, I wasn't really paying attention b/c the attendant I think was purposefully distracting me. A day later I noticed my bank account was charged $30. Of course I didn't save the receipt. And the tequila was not that great. Too bad you just lost a customer Mike's. Not because I thought there was anything wrong with it but I'm a long way from home when I do (OK, Lawrence). Just haven't had a need to stop in. However... Was in the area a few days ago with some time to kill and needed to pick up some beverages so stopped in. Glad I did! Impressive selection for the size of the store, and an above average collection of single malts, always one of my ways of judging how much I like a store. Plenty of quality beers and wines I could be happy with for a neighborhood store. Best of all, really nice folks on staff. I stood around and chatted with them for about 10 minutes about this and that. Kind of place you want to return to. I think I will. read more

These guys have done a fabulous job transforming this space into a fully functioning business that houses a good selection of your malt beverage and spirits needs. Granted, it is a bit cozy inside, all though the staff has done a wonderful job using every inch of space to stock product. They pride themselves on being the #1 PBR outlet in the city, but you can also find your favorite craft beer, its seasonals and even some of its limited releases. If you like liquor then there ample amount of it too so feel free to pick your poison. I'm not the largest wine consumer, but my friends who like wine say they are more than satisfied with the selection. If you're not sure what you want or if you're trying to find something to match up well with a meal you're hosting, the staff is more than happy (and knowledgeable) to step in and lead you along. If you're in the Westport area, Mike's is a spot that I recommend. read more

Great little store, open late. Four stars instead of five because it's a small store, so there's not a huge selection. But the location is awesome, and they are open late. The store is clean and new, and they had two of our favorites. They were also helpful to customers (I overheard a girl asking for recommendations and they were friendly). We will definitely go back when we are in the area. read more

I originally had a negative experience here, but the owner reached out and was not only understanding but also helped me find what I was looking for. Chalking it up to someone having a bad day... otherwise, they have a great beer and bourbon selection. Mike's just opened their new store in Westport. Congrats! Spacious and Well stocked. I was really impressed by the "special whisky" room where they had several hard to find items. They also have Goose island bourbon county on tap! Andy does a great job of helping track down hard to find items if he knows you are a loyal customer. read more

Awesome selection and awesome prices. Significantly cheaper than it's neighbor just down the street closer to the Plaza... It feels kind of like a sketchy typical liquor store in midtown. It's pretty claustrophobic in my opinion, the aisles are narrow and tightly packed with tons of products. Great selection of beers. After living in the area for several year and buying liquor nearly every day I finally made it in here for the first time this week! I'm glad I did too. The place is smaller than Gomer's but fits the bill quite nicely and is much better than what you'll find across the street, if you know what I mean! The man at the counter greeted me upon entering the establishment -- score! For being a small store the selection of wine, beer, and spirits is good and the prices are for the most part very fair -- score again! I'm embarrassed to say this, but they also have 1.5 liter bottles of Fish Eye wine priced at $8.99, so score yet another time! Considering they are so close to home, seem to care about their business, and have all the basics at a reasonable price, I will most certainly be back. read more

My sister and her boyfriend went to buy some things and it was snowing outside. They took his legal ID because they didn't think He looked old enough. They made them sit in their car until the cops came and figured out that it was his ID. They had to sit in their car and wait an hour in the snow. I will never return and I will share with all my friends not to return! I didn't get the ass holes name but it's whoever was working on Sunday the 7th at 11:00pm hopefully you fire this sick for keeping people waiting during a snow storm. read more

They are dog friendly which was a great surprise (even had treats), and I was immediately helped. I've never actually been to a store that has SO many wine selections (types and brands) before...perhaps, I'm a little shallow, but it was awfully neat. My boyfriend and I came here looking for wines to try for a celebration, but we totally are NOT connoisseurs, but pretend to be. After getting a bit of a laugh about that with the people who worked here, we found a great merlot and pinot grigio that we could settle with. The workers were great - really homely and polite...a common trait among people in Kansas City. I would definitely go back. Be mindful that there are a TON of wines, so have an idea of what you want before you go. There were a lot of brands that I did (and didn't) recognize, so it can be overwhelming to see an entire aisle of one type particular type of red or white wine. read more

Great place to look for those limited-edition Boulevard bottles that come out, as this store is less busy than many of the others. My friend works the register.
