We're member's of their wine club. Big fans of that. The monthly allotment is always something different and really broadens our pallet. The associates have never changed. Everyone is kind, knowledgeable, and happy to help. They have multiple monthly tastings. Sign up and check their calendar for tastings and classes. They are a downtown treasure.

I went in for the "Taste the $100 Case" event and had a wonderful time! The tasting is $10 for 12 wines, 6 white and 6 red. You get your glass and go at your own pace with tasting each wine. You can wander around the store and check out all of their offerings while tasting. There were quite a few people tasting so having the freedom to move around and not have to stay near the countertop was a plus. I enjoyed all but one of the wines and even built a case of favs and took it home with me. If you're looking for a way to increase your wine selection at home and don't want to spend a ton of money this is definitely the event for you. Being able to taste the wine before buying is beyond helpful. Everyone working there was really nice! I will definitely be back for wine, whiskey and mezcal!

Went to a wine tasting that offered a large selection of wines for only $10. You pay and they give you a glass with a list of all the wines. There's a good amount of people, so it might take a bit to get through all the wines but you just enter a revolving line of people. It can get a bit claustrophobic since the store is pretty small and people drinking wine usually aren't the best at keeping an orderly line, but definitely a great place to spend an afternoon to relax and taste a great selection of wines!

Lovely store and very nice staff who loved talking wine and spirits. I'm going back on my next visit to KC.

No, this is more of a sit-yourself-down kind of place, instead of being a make-your-way-to-the-bar-for-yet-another-drink kind of place. But they serve up some Joe's Kansas City BBQ, so you know they've got a reason to pull you in. Nothing says Kansas City quite like smoked meats & fabulous sauces, so get comfy & sample a Z-Man. There is plenty else on the menu, but if you're vegan or vegan-ish, then good luck or maybe have a cheat day. The BBQ is fantastic and Ice House has added their own bar & grille twists, so you have options beyond smoked meats. Seating is pretty good, and with both a wraparound bar and table service, there are plenty of options. As is the norm these days, there are screens in all directions, so you just don't miss a single moment of sportsball if that's your jam. P&L is a jammed up place when events are happening, so if you can find yourself a spot to sit and enjoy, then that's a win. County Road offers that and more, and it's only real knock is the service levels, which can be slow at busy times. But hey, if you have a seat and maybe a drink, then wait just a few extra minutes for servers to plow their way through the bar crowd. Definitely worth it for the BBQ alone.

The overall vibe is pretty cool, and I really liked the lighting inside--it gives the place a nice atmosphere. I ordered the BRGR burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The burger itself was pretty good, and the sweet potato fries were fantastic. They came out hot and had great flavor, easily the highlight of the meal. The server was very good and nice. She noticed that we were getting low on waters fast and just gave us the pitcher which was super thoughtful. That being said, the burger is pretty expensive, and they don't include fries with it. You have to pay an extra $5-6 for a side, which definitely adds up and feels a bit steep for what you get. Overall, it's still a good place with solid food and a cool vibe, but the pricing does affect the overall rating.

If memory serves me correctly this used to be an old berbiglia spot. Just thinking about those stores takes me back to my early 20s and thinking about how much KC has changed in a decade. At any rate, I pulled over, dodged some rain, and came inside. Now, anyone who remembers Berbiglias in KC might remember them as I do - kind of basic, a bit dirty, and the kind of place that you just kind of tolerated. I mean, I was in my twenties so I didn't know liquor stores could be nice and have variety, but now I do, and boy was I glad when I walked in the doors and found out that this newly redone Plaza Liquor is NICE. Not only is the interior nice, the folks working are super friendly, and they have an incredible selection. I found some craft beers from STL that my husband hadn't been able to find in a long time at liquor stores closer to our house, and they of course carried a good variety of wine and liquor as well. Overall this one is a great little neighborhood liquor store, and is definitely one I'll return to if I'm once again needing to pick up a bottle of wine on the way home.
