Ever since we moved into the city, we've been getting our sushi fix from Mikimoto with delivery or pickup but this time was better than usual, despite living in this weird uncertain time. I love sushi and we decided to get delivery from here for our anniversary. We had 4 rolls, noodle salad, and seafood udon. In the Uber eats app before checkout, I asked for extra spicy mayo if it was free with low expectations of actually getting it but when I opened our order, someone from Mikimoto wrote "free" with a heart on one of the boxes and gave me an extra spicy mayo like I had asked for. What great service and what a sweet way to fulfill someone's request as we're stuck social distancing and eating takeout/delivery from our favorite local restaurants! Love this place. read more

We stopped on the way home after jazz fest and actually went inside for once. The service was quick and the waiter was fun and informative! The rolls here are incredible and the menu is huge!! My partner and I got the Who Dat Poppers for an appetizer, and the Fuji Mountain Roll and the Geaux Saints Maki Roll for our meals. We were pleasantly surprised by how big the Who Dat Popper's were, we were half full by the time our meals came out. Both rolls were incredible, though I wish it was a little more obvious which rolls were raw. Although he doesn't mind it, my partner prefers cooked sushi and it was easy to overlook "fresh" in the description. I love it though, and ate the other half of his sushi at home after we took it to-go The server was polite and prompt and although the dining area was small, it was nice. My only real complaint is that it is really warm inside. Will definitely be returning, but likely in the drive-thru. read more

How often have you seen a japanese spot with a drive thru?! This small restaurant has a small dining area and a drive thru for quick to go meals. I stopped in bc i only had abt 30 min to grab a bite. Service was super fast and my waitress was friendly. I ordered a fresh salmon box..it was really tasty but compared to other great salmon boxes in the area, this one was definitely small for the price. I also ordered a clear soup..flavor was good but didnt like that tofu was in it. A nice perk was the small, complimentary cold noodle salad. It was light and tasty. Overall this is a good spot if you dont have much time and would like a good, fresh meal. They have a really small parking lot but there is off street parking. read more

Khoa (Quoi) is the effing bomb dot kom! Knowledgeable of all the rolls and mixtures...after being there for 10 years, it definitely shows. Being super enthusiastic, and with a really huge menu, it was nice to come in and tell him what I like and disliked, he figured out some stuff, reviewed the order and complete bliss came out of the kitchen. I know that's a run-on sentence so forgive me.. Happily to admit, two lovely cold sakes...both Alladins- blue and pink. Pink being milkier and Khoa was careful to shake it and pour, as he did most of the night with all his other tables. I ate most of the rolls without any sauce...that's when you can tell the fish is stellar. Salmon being my favorite due to flavor and texture, their salmon was delicious. Mom loved everything she ate! My long-time favorite local sushi joint! I miss the days of the hot towels for your hands upon arrival, but the food is consistently fresh and tasty. 5 stars because this restaurant has a drive through line. Like?? GENIUS. Everytime I come here it's great. It isn't my favorite sushi joint, but it's really good! It's definitely one of my go-tos for take out. The jalapeño poppers, baked green muscles and Nola roll were creamy and delicious! Really really cream cheesy. I suggest you go with only one of these if you're not trying to do a heart attack but if you're down, go right ahead haha. I came here because of decent reviews. I love sushi. I eat it often and at various places around the globe (travel for work). Maybe I came on a down day? A very very...very down day. I got a sampling of sashimi. I stopped halfway because I realized I was just forcing it down. I'm not starving or desparate so I'll just go somewhere else and eat. I should've stopped sooner because it also sent me to the bathroom. Maybe it's Wilmington in general? Regarding the sashimi, it was obviously from frozen, which is fine for the price point, but no old frozen to where it tastes like brakish water. I also don't expect the best cuts at this price point, but this was sad. Poor quality all around. Should have left due to red flags at the beginning such as the napkin that was washed but still didn't look clean and hair on the napkin and table, dirty dipping container, etc. read more

Very good restaurant. I ordered food to go. Went through Grubhub. If it was up to them, I would not be able to review. After waiting over an hour I get a message from GrubHub that my order was cancelled. Mikimoto called me directly to let me know that GrubHub could not find a driver. They were gracious enough to keep me informed. Then they waited to allow me to come get my order. I was glad because my food was excellent. Even though it was cold, it was very good. I've been going to Mikimoto for almost my whole life, at least I feel like. Every time I told my mom I wanted sushi, or if family was in town and wanted sushi, it was always Mikimoto. To me, I think it speaks on the dependability and quality of Mikimoto. Without fail, a meal at Mikimoto will be a great one. My favorites are the baked salmon, stir fried udon, crunchy dynamite roll, and the naruto roll. And the noodle salad is always so delicious. The place is small and the parking is kind of meh, but it is well worth it. There's just a few tables but they're hardly ever full. They also have a great takeout system. Service every time I go is great. They're attentive and are helpful and patient. Overall, one of my favorite spots in NOLA. read more

I've been ordering mikimoto for over five years and it's recently began to feel the affects of Covid and the lack of available help I guess. Rising costs etc. I understand but it's Very frustrating to pay $100 for five rolls delivered on Uber eats and to get so little fish. Makes you question the quality next. Tastes ok, nothing better than rouses. Hope they get it together.....they aren't alone in this. I fear we are headed for dark days. $96 worth of sushi fit into two boxes. That's how scamp it was. Mikimoto was a very pleasant surprise on a recent trip with my girlfriends to the area. We had not looked ahead for something to eat and were really just looking for something quick and delicious after a long day. There was a line that went around the small building and spilled out onto the side street. Parking itself is a bit tight and there is a security guard out front. There was a short wait for a table and the small dining room was full. The kitchen and service staff were BUSY with putting together to-go orders from the drive-thru. They utilized the sushi bar and some of the tables to get all the boxes ready - the magnitude of how many boxes they had out was impressive. With all that we had prompt service and quick delivery of our food. The rolls we each got had lots of raw fish and all the right flavors hit our mouths. read more

I had dinner hear last night and ordered the Yaki Udon with veggies. I don't order the sushi because I think it's unethical farm raised that causes cancer. When I tasted the Yaki Udon I informed the waitress that the sauce tasted tangy. She replied it's Japanese bbq sauce and that's how it taste. I now have the most intense case of food poisoning going on 12 hours. My number 2 is coming out like a faucet. What kind of gross negligence could wreck my intestinal track. Mikimoto is conveniently located on Carrolton Ave. It is a great restaurant for take-out and delivery. Parking is easy. Their service is excellent, polite, efficient, and fast. I wish I could give them an A on ambience, but not much of an ambiance. The product is fresh because of its high volume. Their Japanese rice is excellent. I have actually had a really bad experience with this restaurant before but I wanted to give them another chance so came in during a pretty busy Wednesday night. Our server was actually really good this time. We told him that we had really bad kitchen food last time so he suggested us stuff from the sushi bar instead. He was nice enough to even speak spanish with us so that we understood what was in each roll and was patient with us. We got a bunch of really good spicy rolls like the tiger roll, the mango roll, and another red tuna roll that I can't remember. He also promisd us that we would enjoy the deep fried banana with ice cream for desert and he did not lie. If I knew that was on the menu last time I came, I would not have been as upset. I'm only taking off one star because there was a a hair in one of the rolls and our server coulnt do anything about it, but the food is really good, especially the shushi and deserts. read more

Super small sushi restaurant off Carrollton that is super easy to drive past if you arent paying attention but it's one of my go to places in new orleans. Sushi is always fresh and has an extremely long menu that has something for anyone, even a sweet potato roll if I remember correctly. Dont order that unless you love sweet potato because why would you when there is so much else better available. For example, my brother and I started to always try a crawfish roll at whatever sushi restaurant we go to because its something pretty unique to the south especially new orleans. Mikimoto so far has the best we've ever tried and it's only like 5 or 6 dollars. Well worth to get our fix. I even got two last time I was there. Everything else is pretty standard. This spot is close to school so I like to dine in for a quick lunch or grab some togo in their convenient drive thru window. The servers are attentive and recently when I went, our server was very energetic and kind. The noodle salad that the offer during lunch is one of the main reasons why I come; it's soo good. We got The Who dat popper, baked green mussel, eel roll, salmon skin roll, and nola roll. The Who dat popper was huge and came out hot; it was good but I didn't mind it. The baked green mussel were good. The eel and salmon skin rolls were good and pretty standard. The way that Mikimoto advertises itself is "The sushi restaurant with a drive-thru." I was extremely disappointed to find that the so-called drive-thru was completely dysfunctional. My business partner and I were told our food would be ready 15 minutes after we placed our order over the phone, and this came as a pleasant surprise to both of us, we pulled up to the window at the expected time, we were told to go into a parking spot to wait for our food to be delivered to our car. We waited probably an additional 30 minutes. When the person behind us finished paying for their order they were supposedly told the same thing, well with no parking spaces available, they pulled in next to us in a small spot next to the "EXIT ONLY" sign, being stuck with no way to pull out of the parking space due to their tail end sticking into the lane, while other cars trying to pay for their food were also in our way. The person next in line had to wait to pull up to the window to give us space to pull out, which was still extremely difficult with the car next to us. I would not recommend going through the drive-thru if you ever go to this place when it is dinner time or even slightly busy. The food was good, but not worth the struggle, I'll make sure to DoorDash next time. There's a reason not many sushi places have a drive-thru. read more

Pricey but worth it! Service was great and we were seated right away. For background, I am a basic sushi gal that doesn't really venture outside my comfort zone - however these rolls were insanely good! The texture, the freshness, and overall taste was better than expected. In order of my least favorite to most favorite: we got the Rainbow roll, shrimp tempura roll, and the Deluxe roll. If you ask me to recall what exactly was in each one I couldn't tell ya - but the menu is very detailed about it! Honestly every roll sounded the same but I highly recommend the deluxe roll if you needed a starting point. It had some crunchy onions, eel sauce, spicy tuna, salmon, and *cream cheese* (among other things). It all balances out! Each slice was generous and expertly put together. Sometimes, I try to break out and have sushi at another restaurant and I ALWAYS wish I had stuck to the trusted & true Mikimoto. I've eaten inside *twice* in the last 8 years and, oh boy, is it small & dark in there- good tiki shareable drinks though. So, because of those experiences, I err towards pickup & delivery only! The sushi is always fresh and delicious. The simple mango roll, Metairie roll, and violet rolls are oh so good, but their more creative & complicated rolls never disappoint either. Everyone should try the Yumi Maki roll in their lifetime. Obviously I'm a big fan of their sushi, but I got the fried rice once too. Huge portion (like 3 meals worth) and delicious. read more

Delicious. Absolutely delicious. My girlfriend and I have been looking for good sushi and we have finally found it! We ordered the edamame and snow crab salad as our appetizers. They came out quickly and were delicious! My girlfriend ordered the snow crab Naruto and the Turner Maki. The snow crab Naruto was filled with plenty snow crab and was wrapped tightly! Best Naruto she's ever had! The Turner Maki was a little strange has there is a beef strip over the sushi that surprisingly went well together. I ordered the soft shell crab with rare beef teriyaki. The beef was cooked to perfection! The soft shell crab roll was also delicious! Both of my dishes had plenty of flavour! The only downside was the amount of teriyaki sauce on the steak.
