We came to LA for a visit this past week and decided to try this restaurant because of all the great reviews. Overall, the food was good, ambiance was really nice, and our server greeted us warmly at the door. Service was attentive throughout our meal, until we found what appeared to be a caterpillar in our water, likely from the fresh mint in the water pitcher. We politely brought it to the attention of our server and simply asked for a new pitcher of water. Unfortunately, her initial response was, "It's just mint," without really taking a closer look. It felt like our concern was dismissed rather than taken seriously, even though it was clearly not mint. We ended up asking another server, who immediately helped us by replacing the water pitcher without hesitation. We appreciated how quickly they handled it, but by then we already felt uncomfortable continuing our meal because of how our concern had been addressed the first time. When we brought it up again, the server apologized profusely after seeing our video of the caterpillar moving. While I appreciate that she eventually acknowledged the issue, I wish the same level of concern had been shown from the beginning instead of only after we had evidence. I understand that mistakes can happen, especially in restaurants. Finding something unexpected in food or drinks is unfortunate but not necessarily a deal-breaker. What matters most is how it's handled. Unfortunately, the initial dismissal of our concern left a sour taste in our mouths and ultimately made us feel uncomfortable eating there. I hope this was just an isolated incident and that the staff takes future concerns more seriously.

Great sushi! The restaurant is very clean, and service is excellent. The cocktails are strong, the sushi was fresh & exactly what I expected.

    Chirashi lite

After attending an event across the street, lunch was the next item on the schedule. Not wanting to venture far, I appreciated Mikomi's proximity to where I was and appreciated their lunch special offerings. They have a spacious interior, so our table of two didn't wait at all for a mid-weekend lunch and we got the last booth facing the main street. I originally eyed the bento boxes, but got won over by the chirashi lite ($23.95), which also comes with a small salad. It came with rice, seaweed salad, tamago, shrimp, masago, and four kinds of mixed sashimi (with 2 pieces each). Really refreshing and filling, just enough that I had nothing left over but enough for me to be full! If you share your photos on Yelp or Google, you can also supplement your meal with some ice cream or ramune. Since I was full, I opted for the ramune. There are public parking structures within walking distance with the first 90 minutes free, or you can find metered street parking, or get regular street parking if you go further. Mikomi is towards the tail end of 3rd Street Promenade, so it's also a nice walk away from shopping and the beach and pier!

    KISS OF FIRE ROLL

This spot is conveniently located near my work, and some coworkers wanted to try the sushi. I ordered the Kiss of Fire ($17.00), which has spicy tuna and cucumber topped with albacore, ponzu, chili oil, and a jalapeno slice. It had a nice spicy flavor, and I added wasabi to kick up a notch. It came with 8 pieces, which felt a bit small. I haven't had sushi in a while, and it's definitely gotten more expensive. I suppose these are Santa Monica prices, so it's understandable. The roll was pretty good, but I'd like to try other options next time. It was solid, but not amazing enough for me to rush back. The staff does a good job of welcoming you, and the food was well-packaged for the walk back to the office. They also provide plenty of utensils and sauces.

    CRISPY RICE SPICY TUNA

I recently checked out Mikomi Sushi and it honestly exceeded expectations, definitely a spot I'd come back to. First off, the ambiance was really nice: modern, cozy, and perfect for a casual dinner or a date night. On top of that, the service was amazing. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel welcoming from start to finish. If you go, do not skip the crispy rice spicy tuna. It might've been one of the best I've had! They top it with fried onions and fresh avocado, which adds the perfect crunch and creaminess to balance the spicy tuna. The Firey Salmon Battera Sushi was another standout, super fresh with great flavor, and you can tell they really pay attention to quality. Same goes for the Ultimate Salmon Roll, which was rich, fresh, and really satisfying. For appetizers, the chicken thigh yakitori was juicy and well-seasoned, the takoyaki was warm and flavorful, and the arugula salad added a nice fresh balance to the meal. Overall: fresh sushi, standout crispy rice, great ambiance, and amazing service. Definitely recommend taking advantage of the promo and trying it for yourself.

Everything about this place is great. One of the few spots that knows how to steam edamame properly, and the robot staff is kind of cool.

I was feeling like some sushi on our last visit to LA. I found Mikomi Sushi, and every thing sounded so good on the menu. We were able to park right in front of the restaurant. We were seated right away. Service was great, and the food was outstanding. We ordered three rolls and tempura shrimp and vegetables. So good!! Highly recommend if you're in the area. 2/11/26

ROLLing my way down downtown Santa Monica to @mikomisushisantamonica ! Don't know how it took me so long to discover this hidden gem, but you seriously can't beat the incredible deals + quality of the sushi here! As someone who is super picky about Japanese food, I was so impressed with the freshness of every cut of sashimi that we had, as well as the generous portions of the noodle soup and bento box combos that we ordered. We ordered the: omakase sushi ($25.95): 6 pieces of chef's choice nigiri + sushi roll (highly recommend!) bento your way ($21.95): chicken teriyaki, tempura (highly recommend!), 4 piece sashimi slurp and bite combo ($21.95): tonkotsu ramen (highly recommend!) + spicy tuna roll beer tower ($38) Overall, definitely a great casual spot with beautifully decorated interiors for high quality Japanese food that won't break your wallet. I definitely think this is a hidden gem among the restaurants that make up downtown Santa Monica, and Mikomi is for sure one of my new favorite Japanese restaurants in the west side!

Good food, especially the sushi. We ordered many different types of sushi and it's all good, I like the place cozy and with good service. The drink yuzu margarita and Sapporo beer were good price

Stopped by here on a weekend and made it in time for their lunch specials! Decent sushi + portions for pretty good prices! Their happy hour menu is also pretty worth it if you can't make their lunch special. The ambiance is nice inside and suitable for all group sizes (big/small) and you can go walk around third street promenade after! Bento Box Trio: $22 Chirashi Bowl: $24 (my personal favorite) Mackerel Roll: $20

I stopped by Mikomi Sushi in Santa Monica and had a really solid experience from start to finish. We started with two appetizers, the shrimp tempura and the popcorn chicken. Both came out hot and crispy without being greasy. The shrimp tempura had a light crunch, and the popcorn chicken was well seasoned and full of flavor, a great way to start the meal. To drink, I had the Matcha IPA, which was a pleasant surprise. It was smooth and refreshing, with a subtle matcha flavor that did not overpower the beer. For sushi, we ordered a yellowtail hand roll, a sushi combo, and a sashimi combo. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The yellowtail hand roll was clean and simple, letting the quality of the fish stand out. The sushi combo offered a nice variety, and the sashimi combo really impressed with fresh cuts and generous portions. Overall, the food was fresh, the menu had a good balance of classic and unique items, and everything we tried was consistently good. I would definitely come back if you are in Santa Monica and looking for quality sushi.

Visited Mikomi Sushi in Santa Monica and had such a great experience from start to finish. There's a parking structure nearby, which made parking surprisingly easy for this area and took a lot of stress out of the visit. The sushi and food were very fresh, with clean flavors and great quality ingredients. Everything came out beautifully presented and tasted just as good -- you can really tell care goes into each dish. The interior is also so pretty -- cozy, modern, and thoughtfully designed, making it a great spot for a casual meal, a date night, or catching up with friends. Service was friendly and attentive, and the overall vibe was relaxed and welcoming.

Greeted by our very kind waiter, we were served the most delicious toasted bread, butter(s) and rock salt from La Boulangerie. As a film nut, of course I ordered the Cinema Paradiso, this is a very imaginative cocktail recipe, like a an Old Fashioned but with a movie theater twist, kindly served with a pinch of candy kettle-corn at our table by the mixologist herself; what a playful and tasty delight! For starters, we are ordered the Mini-French-Onion Grilled Cheese and Hamachi Crudo. Both absolutely delicious. The Hamachi Crudo Leche de Tigre sauce is beyond perfect. The balance of flavors between charriness of the bread and melted cheeses, and tangy onion soup dip...just wow. Then the steak! Accompanied by a delicious Châteauneuf-du-Pape, we shared between two, a perfectly cooked (medium rare of course, don't be basic) N.Y. Strip (au poivre sauce on the side) with au gratin, and it came with nice little on the vine roasted tomatoes and a little leafy salad...like I told Chef when he came to our table post meal: "INCROYABLE!". Every-Single-Bite!! But, aside every dish being perfect and the service being above and beyond, what literally brought me to tears was the dessert. I haven't had "floating islands" since my mom used to make it many, many moons ago (unfortunately ma is now at early dementia), and when I tasted my first spoonful here, I couldn't hold back the tears, memories flooded and complimented by the preceding meal which was perfect...too many feels. Merci Beaucoup! For a VERY special culinary experience to all at La Monique. Please don't change a thing. I rarely ever make the effort to write a review, but this is very much worth every second. The cocktails are crafted perfectly, strong but smooth, and the atmosphere feels intimate without trying too hard. It's got that hidden-gem energy. Great music, great crowd, and just an overall solid spot when you want something more elevated than the usual bar scene. Definitely one of my favorites.

July 2026, I think there were watch parties here for FIFA games. These games are during work hours. Well, I decided to come here for a Singles Meetup. Where is everyone? The bartender showed me a menu which I could order food that will be delivered from The Brixton. Scan the QR code to order. "Sorry, we aren't accepting orders at the moment..." I guess I could finish my beer, pay my tab and go searching for something good to eat. She didn't know the Wi-Fi password neither because they changed the password. Why broadcast the guest Wi-Fi if you aren't going to make it available? There was no organizer for the meetup event. With only a handful of people here, do I want to wait for the karaoke session? It's time to go eat somewhere else.

Came for dinner!…read more FLAVOR (4.2/5): 1. PHYLLO BAKED FETA: Probably the best dish of the night - perfectly flakey, with a good mixture of sweet and savory from the cheese and honey. A great appetizer to order for the table. 2. HUMMUS: The hummus was delicious with the pita! Another great appetizer to share. 3. GREEK FRIES: The fries were flavorful and came with two dips. If you're a big fan of fries I would recommend. The portion size was decent. 4. CHARRED OCTOPUS: The octopus was good and tender, but I feel like the main dishes we ordered fell flat compared to the appetizers. 5. JIDORI HALF CHICKEN: The chicken was okay, a little dry despite the shakshuka sauce. SERVICE (5/5): Service was good! AMBIENCE (4/5): Fun rooftop restaurant in Santa Monica. I was seated at table that didn't have the best views, but seeing the sunset with the comfort of a heater was still pleasant. PARKING (3/5): I parked street, but they may have valet - not sure. TAKEAWAYS: I liked Calabra and would have loved to try even more of their offerings - the branzino especially caught my eye. Unfortunately I probably won't be going back because although the food is good, it doesn't justify the price point. For reference, Bestia's marinated olives appetizer is 9 dollars, while Calabra's is 16.

The beauty of Mediterranean food is that it's perfect to share with large groups. Because I had some fellow vegetarians (and veg friendly people) with me, ordering was quite fun. We almost ordered every vegetarian mezze, which included: Mezze sampler: the Muhammara was my favorite of them all and the naan was amazing. Very soft, but flavorful. Sprouted cauliflower: interesting way they made it. Golden tahini had a nice touch. Pickled vegetables: loved them Greek fries: can't go wrong with that Roasted sweet potato: surprisingly quite good and a very different palate from the fries. Baked feta: interesting, but this wasn't a fan favorite amongst the group. While our non-vegetarian colleagues enjoyed the octopus, we were nearly full with just the mezze. We decided to go ahead and order the mushroom skewers while the other side enjoyed the tomahawk. Everyone was full after all this food. The cocktails kept flowing. I stuck with just one Urfa mezcalita while enjoying the views for the remainder of the night. This lasted until dessert where plenty were ordered. I got a chocolate gelato not realizing I'd get two scoops. Sadly I could only finish one scoop. Anyhow, there are heaters all over the rooftop so that people can enjoy throughout the year. They do have to crank it up as needed, but it's there. Can't mention price much because this was work sanctioned, but it was a great decision.
