We arrived on time for our reservation and were warmly greeted then promptly seated at a very nice table inside a very cozy and super stylish facility nested in the hotel. Greeted by our very kind waiter, we were served the most delicious toasted bread, butter(s) and rock salt from La Boulangerie. As a film nut, of course I ordered the Cinema Paradiso, this is a very imaginative cocktail recipe, like a an Old Fashioned but with a movie theater twist, kindly served with a pinch of candy kettle-corn at our table by the mixologist herself; what a playful and tasty delight! For starters, we are ordered the Mini-French-Onion Grilled Cheese and Hamachi Crudo. Both absolutely delicious. The Hamachi Crudo Leche de Tigre sauce is beyond perfect. The balance of flavors between charriness of the bread and melted cheeses, and tangy onion soup dip...just wow. Then the steak! Accompanied by a delicious Châteauneuf-du-Pape, we shared between two, a perfectly cooked (medium rare of course, don't be basic) N.Y. Strip (au poivre sauce on the side) with au gratin, and it came with nice little on the vine roasted tomatoes and a little leafy salad...like I told Chef when he came to our table post meal: "INCROYABLE!". Every-Single-Bite!! But, aside every dish being perfect and the service being above and beyond, what literally brought me to tears was the dessert. I haven't had "floating islands" since my mom used to make it many, many moons ago (unfortunately ma is now at early dementia), and when I tasted my first spoonful here, I couldn't hold back the tears, memories flooded and complimented by the preceding meal which was perfect...too many feels. I am absolutely shocked. After we left, they added $100 in tips to my bill without my authorization -- I only discovered it later on my bank statement. This is completely unacceptable and feels like fraud. To make things worse, the food was completely average -- nothing special at all and definitely not worth the prices they charge. I've never experienced anything like this, even at the most basic places. This is beyond unprofessional and extremely disappointing. I really wanted to love this place. The space is beautiful in photos, a little more underwhelming in person, but still pretty. The food, though, was less than average, and the bill was $1,000 for four people. The drinks were below average and over $30 a cocktail. The duck was hardly edible. The seabass, which was supposed to be one of the best dishes, barely tasted like anything. We had a 7:45 p.m. reservation and were not seated until 8:20, so the evening was already off to a rather unimpressive start. We were told they would "do something special" to make up for the delay. Apparently, that grand gesture amounted to comping a single dessert. How very generous. Then there was the busboy pouring our water, who asked me--in Spanish--whether I spoke Spanish. As a Californian, I understood enough to answer no. Rather than leaving it there, he proceeded to lecture me on why I should speak Spanish. I came for dinner, not an unsolicited language lesson. Midway through the evening, our waiter inexplicably changed. His replacement had something of a bargain-basement Jason Momoa aesthetic--ponytail and all--but considerably less presence. Perhaps our lack of enthusiasm bruised his ego, because after our entrées arrived, he essentially disappeared. We saw him again only when he finally brought the check--which we first had to request and then wait another 20 minutes to receive. The overarching problem is the service. The staff seemed remarkably young, inexperienced, and lacking the polish one expects from a restaurant positioning itself as an elevated French dining experience. There is a certain confidence required to adopt all the airs and affectations of restaurants such as L'Orangerie or Citrus--but those airs need to be supported by impeccable service, seasoned hospitality, and a sense of occasion. Unfortunately, this restaurant seems to have mastered the affectation without acquiring the experience or gravity necessary to carry it off. read more

The Good: The space is gorgeous -- elegant lighting, art, and ambiance that promise a great experience. Service was friendly, but the food completely missed the mark. The Not So Good: Escargot came sitting on fake plastic grass that stuck to the shells. You should never put something not edible on a plate. That's a hazard. Caesar salad was really bad, pappardelle bolognese tasted canned with zero depth of flavor, and the pasta was shredding apart. The Wagyu flat iron was tough with overpowering peppercorn sauce, and fries arrived cold. The New York steak was fine but forgettable. Mac and cheese had a strange plasticky flavor if a plastic spatula was melted into sauce, and the broccoli never even showed up. The bread was the best thing we had. Drinks were overpriced, and the wine list was unreasonably a ripoff. For a bill that hit the thousands, it just wasn't worth it. Gorgeous space, but the kitchen and pricing need a serious reset. Super unfortunate, had high hopes for this place, but they're not gonna make it like this. read more

Went for Valentine's Day. It's a very pretty spot and I think this place has a lot of potential. Unfortunately the food was really mediocre and our server had that "fake kind of polite" attitude.
