YIKES - with such high reviews of this newer Latin cafe, we had high hopes. We came here in the morning, and we were excited to try out their beverages and some of their items from the pastry case - we ordered: +a churro donut - where's the cinnamon? this was just a sugar crusted bread-y donut that was cold, flavorless, super dry, and inedible; this was tossed +a poblano/cheese scone - this was not even warmed up, and it was just a rock of 'bread' - no taste of cheese or the spiciness from the peppers; this was tossed +a latte with almond milk - not sure what kind of coffee they use, but this was lukewarm, extremely weak, and was unenjoyable +a Mexican hot chocolate - this was awful; seemed to be made from a generic packet of artificial-ness; in addition, the mug that it was served didn't seem to be washed, as it had a 'saliva/spit' odor to it - gross! None of the items we had ordered tasted like how they were described or were supposed to be. While the cafe itself is cute and cozy, and I loved their shelves of various figurines and collectibles that you could purchase, the food/drinks were just not worth the money nor a visit. No dice, Mil Colibris. +avoid the dried-out, flavorless pastries +avoid the beverages +street parking available in the area

Here's what you need to know: Love Mil Colibris. Perfect woman owned small business that is the cornerstone of any good neighborhood. All baked goods made freshly in house. Delicious panini sandwiches (chicken tomatillo) and quiches (chorizo). Yum! Always a delightful service experience from any member of their team. Could not ask for a better breakfast/lunch spot.

A thousand dreams, a thousand hugs, a thousand hummingbirds. -- Mil Colibris "We're devoted to making this bakery a special place: celebrating our cultures, exploring food traditions and serving as a warm hearth for our local community." This is a cute bakery/coffee shop in the Ravinia neighborhood and I want it to succeed. We enjoyed our coffee, Mexican hot chocolate, churro donut and avocado toast. It's simply decorated with a few tables, plants, inviting bakery case. My friend enjoyed their avocado toast which came with a small green salad. The churro was okay, a little dry. The scones and croissants looked very inviting. Friendly staff, they said they had been open a little over a month. Sending thoughts of hummingbirds your way.

Moldy tres leches on Monday, bought from cafe on Thursday.

Old pastries, moldy cakes, enough said. Also, gross n dirty bathroom often without soap.

This is the place we've always needed in Highland Park! Incredible conchas--seriously best I've ever had--and the breakfast burritos can be made vegetarian. So dang good. Don't sleep on the churro donuts or quiches! Iced latte is perfect every time.

I had a Caesar salad, my wife has the French onion soup and a grilled cheese and all items were solid. Also had the Chocolate chip cookies which were awesome. I ordered the croque madame with the fried egg on top, and it was delicious. You can absolutely tell they use real butter--the true French way! My waistline might not thank them, but my tastebuds certainly did. I even brought home an almond croissant for the Hubby and snacked on a cheese and chive scone the next day, and everything was just fantastic. The only little hiccup is that the service can get a bit hectic. The staff seemed a little confused trying to match up the order numbers to the tables, and we almost got run over on our way out by a waiter sprinting to the patio! But even with the fast-paced environment, the food is wonderful whether you eat in or grab takeout. Definitely worth a visit! A much better experience here than MY 1st time. I think it's because they enlarged the dining area with more table space. It's still hard to have a conversation due to the high ceilings which echo the sound.

I did get to try their lasagna, chicken Parmesan, southwest egg rolls spicy broccoli, crème brûlée, strawberry cake, and their skillet cookie, all of which were great! The chicken Parmesan and crème brûlée are a must! If you are lucky enough and can get there by Aug 2026 you can try the danky special menu collaboration with Chef Priyanka. All of that collaboration was top notch and a must try for any foodie in Chicago. Oh and their service is so attentive and friendly. Happy Munchies, @JaeGreens

Rear patio seating is also available. The menu is different for weekday lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Be sure to check online to see which menu suits you. Everything on the menu is vegetarian, even the "crab cakes" and "chicken" entrees. We tried the cauli-wings with dipping sauces, and one of the daily special Indian curry chickpea entrees. Both were good, although the curry was a tad bland. We're looking forward to trying their dinner selections and thought the service was good and prices were reasonable. Definitely worth a try!
