For example, the last time I went to the West U location, I got a gel manicure with cat eye polish. I was charged $75 total, which included removal, cat eye, shape, and design. Reasonable enough. This time, I asked for something similar--just with stars instead. Without asking or informing me, Chloe added a gel builder (something I did not request), and then told me the total was $110. She broke it down as removal, gel builder, shape, design, and gel. When I pointed out that I paid $75 for the same type of manicure at their other location, she said, "Prices are different depending on the manager." That's not a fair or professional business practice. I've been a loyal Milano customer for years, and there are no rewards, no loyalty perks, no incentives...nothing to make customers feel valued. Instead, it feels like they tack on extra charges wherever they can. $110 for a basic gel manicure is absurd. There are plenty of independent nail techs who offer higher-quality service for far less. The lady that did my mani (don't know the name, she had no name tag) was very gentle and cautious with my several broken nails, which I really appreciated. I would give them five stars had they not stopped during the pedicure to tell me that removal of callouses was an extra $5. They should factor in those $5 in their prices in the menu instead of presenting it as an up-charge. It just rubbed me the wrong way. Finding a decent nail salon in the Meyerland area has to be one of the most challenging tasks I've ever endured. I decided to give Milano a try. Their 3.5 star rating was a huge hindrance, but after going to a few others and being sorely disappointed, why not. I booked my appointment online. Very simple and to the point. Took about an hour to it to get confirmed. My appointment was for 6pm. Parking in Meyerland plaza at this time was crazy. Finally found a spot and went inside. I was greeted with a few customers standing at the register by the door. Waited about 5 mins to get checked in. This place is packed. It's one of the large pretty places based on volume. I got seated but no tech in sight. A few people are here in pedicure chairs with no water running, no techs, nothing. The girl who sat me asked what I wanted to drink. I told her I'd like to see a drink menu. She seemed annoyed I asked for that, but eventually the front desk guy brought me one. He said all the liquor was unavailable. Only wine, mimosas and soft drinks. I got a coke. The pedicure room is full of people who brought their kids. So if you want a peaceful, relaxing, adult focused experience, this isn't the place for you. Definitely a huge noticeable difference between the more boutique spots like milk + honey. My tech finally showed up after about 10 mins. She greeted me and handed me the services menu. Funny thing is that I selected which type of Nani pedi I wanted when I set the appointment. The receipt with my selections was on the chair but no one looked at it. I told another lady who asked me what I wanted that it's right there, I selected it online. She said oh okay. My tech finally got started on my feet. She started off with the drill to clean the nail beds. I do like that. It gives a cleaner look and faster service. Sarah showed up and knocked out my manicure. Very friendly and kind. Had to point out a couple spots where she missed cuticle, but overall it was an okay manicure. My pedicure ended up being the same. The lady went a bit too deep on the big toe cuticle. Not painful but still there for another day or so. Shout out to Will at the front desk. He took a lady's son to the restroom while she was getting her nails done. He was super kind. Compared to their Meyerland Plaza neighbor Nail of America, NOA is a lot more efficient and runs a tighter operation. They had liquor, started work on you quickly and they have more parking availability where they are in the plaza. Overall, I definitely feel their 3.5 stars is definitely right on target. I searched a few places but this place stood out to me the most and it was not far from where I was coming from. The ambience is really upscale and plush. The decor is very feminine and soft. The salon has a sweet and inviting aroma unlike the typical smell of a nail salon. There was still visible skin sticking up afterward, and the overall look was messy and unfinished as well as rushed . My first time going to this location. I always go to the galleria or heights area ONLY I see why . I showed the nail tech the inspo video/pic and all she said was ok and started filing my nails. Immediately I noticed she was rushing thru the filing w the nail drill extremely fast. Once I mentioned she was going fast she offered me the drink menu,drinks were not good btw. I then notice her grab the cuticle trimmers and again going extremely fast! Next thing I know I feel a rip!! Immediately my cuticles starts bleeding and does not stop! She tries to continue with the next nail while the one is still bleeding and for whatever reason cuts my cuticle on that finger as well. At this point I tell her I'm in pain and she apologizes and says my cuticles are to dry and that is why they are bleeding. She continues to work while I tell her I don't think this is the best thing for my cuticles she reassures me she can still work around the TWO very much fractured cuticle. After already filing my nails She says to me she doesn't have the butterfly stickers I want. I decided to still go for the nails.Once she had to apply the glitter she informed she only had chunky glitter. By this point I was beyond fed up with everything, but nails were already more than half way. I say fine just so I can pay and leave. For whatever reason the cuts on my nails won't stop bleeding and she ends up offering me "free designs"on the nails that were nude. I refused twice by the 3rd time I finally say yes she then adds the flowers NOT what I wanted but wtv she proceeded to say the charms are free and "on the house" she sends me to the front to pay full service and charge me 95 dollars for nude nails and two finger designs, they didn't even have what I wanted. After numerous times explaining I didn't want these charms I was injured and bleeding the entire time still am, and it was no where near the inspo pic I wanted and wish they could have told me ahead they didn't have what I wanted, with an attitude the receptionist finally decided to give me 9 dollars off. I do not recommend this place. I visited with my mom, sister, and two young girls. We had a 5:00 PM appointment--manicures for the girls and manicures and pedicures for the adults. We ended up sitting in the pedicure chairs for over 40 minutes without anyone attending to us. I asked about it a couple of times, but nothing changed. Eventually, I canceled the pedicures and asked if they could at least do the manicures. They rushed through our manicures in just five minutes--after we had already waited so long. This made me late for my evening, but due to the delightful experience I was no longer stressed over what had happened at Milanos in Meyerland. It was simple.. short and square round. What I got was a butchered disaster and every nail being a different shape and length. I tried to explain to her what I wanted and she kept butchering them even more until they were hurting so bad. My pedicure was amazing and the nail tech doing it was very sweet and she even noticed how bad my nails were. I expressed my disappointment to my tech doing my nails and it was like "oh well". When I checked out the guy asked me how was everything and I told him that I didn't like my nails and he asked me with an attitude what's wrong with them? Why are you going to ask the customer if you clearly don't care and will proceed with an attitude because you didn't like the response. The manager was standing right there doing something and he looked right at me and heard us talking and didn't say a thing to me . Just wow! With all the money and referrals I have brought to this place and they didn't even say mam we are sorry we didn't meet your expectations this time what can we do to make sure your happy . That is what you should do in order to keep your customers . No customer should leave unhappy especially when there is sooo much competition out there that they can go to.
