Overall, this place was delightful. My family and I opted for the buffet, they had been here before but I had not, for I was only visiting for the holidays. I have to say, for the price this place was great. There was a salad bar with limited options and the buffet had meat loaf, fried chicken, and a nice variety of sides. Not gonna say a bunch ab this place. The food over the past few months has went down hill, it has become runny and over cooked or over fried so it's too crispy and frail. Management is a full disaster. Even during the carona virus they stay open? Ot seems this Christian of an owner Dan only cares ab one thing. Not his customers, not his employees, not anyone to be exact. He cares only ab money and getting the next dollar. Probably why he hasn't closed any of his stores yet. 10/10 RECOMMEND! I looked at the Yelp reviews before traveling to Ardmore and thought I would check this place out - I can't begin to explain how happy I am that I did! When you walk in you are greeted by the nicest staff I have ever interacted with; they were not only friendly and warm but they were extremely attentive and even though the restaurant was very busy they constantly made sure we had what we needed. I also can't say enough good things about the buffet! Everything was fresh, delicious, and clearly home made. They had staff members monitoring the buffet the whole time so nothing was ever running low or had been sitting too long - it really is the best buffet I have ever been to. They also had the best fried green tomatoes I have ever had (that is saying a lot as I have gone as far as to go to Juliette, GA to eat them at the Whistlestop Cafe being that Fried Green Tomatoes is my favorite movie). They were thin but not too thin, had the most flavorful batter I have ever tasted on anything fried, and from what I am assuming, are fried in the same grease as the chicken because you get the most wonderful taste just from the way they are fried. The whole experience was just wonderful, from the food, to the service, to the general cleanliness of the restaurant. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area or even someone like me that is willing to drive a little distance for good food :) read more

If you're looking for southern food, then this is your place. Fried chicken is great. Lots of homemade sides are available. We have always gotten the buffet. The ranch dressing is so good on the salad bar. Dress is casual. I think it's a couple dollars over priced for the buffet, but that's just my opinion. Sweet tea is great also. read more

I'm giving this 4 stars based on the fried chicken alone. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I am not a fan of buffets, but this was a good place for a quick home cooked "southern" meal. The building is like a large open log cabin and the staff was friendly. It was a great little excursion off I65 on a Sunday afternoon. If you go on a Sunday, I would recommend you get there early. Went there for dinner on a Monday evening. Didn't know until we arrived that Monday's are breakfast for dinner night. First and foremost, the restaurant was very clean and the service was 5-star. The salad bar was 3-4 star and had the mainstays you would expect. As far as the dinner buffet, fried chicken was excellent; not greasy or dripping with oil. Other items were: bacon (good), sausage patty (good w/just a hint of spice), ham (salty enough to melt ice), green beans (pretty good), corn (pretty good), mac and cheese (not much flavor) and pork chops (very dry). Asked for a piece of corn bread and it was very bland. They also have menu items that we saw being delivered and looked good. Would like to go back on a different night to see what items they carry besides breakfast. For $8 per person, it's hard to beat. read more

Starving while driving from Nashville to Huntsville and spotted Mildred's. Parking lot was full, always a good sign. We walked in and saw all the tables filled and everyone going to the buffet. We asked a patron what to do and they said just grab a plate and get some food. Before we did, we perused the buffet. Fried chicken, chicken & dumplings, green beans, corn, mac & cheese and a lot of things we didn't recognize. It kind of reminded me of the buffet scene in the movie Vegas Vacation. My daughter was so hungry she just wanted to eat. So we went through the buffet and tried some items. If you are watching what you eat, this is not the place for you. The green beans were the only item in line that were not loaded with calories. I got a spoonful of the chicken & dumplings, green beans and chicken fried steak. All were tasty. I went over to the salad bar and got some macaroni salad. Again, tasted great. My daughter liked the fried chicken and especially the yeast rolls. Afterwards for dessert she got some soft serve ice cream. I'm not a dessert fan, but saw some banana pudding and decided to get a little. Just like grandma's! There was cobbler next to it, but did not look at all appetizing. I will admit, the presentation was not the best, but the taste was there. After we went through the buffet and found a place to sit, we found out that they do have a menu you could order off of, but for the price, the buffet is the way to go. The service was the best. Went to Mildred's for their buffet dinner ($8.99). I had the fried chicken and fried pork chop, along with several sides. Wife had a salad and fried chicken, sides. Plus: Buttered rolls were excellent, as were the green beans (bacon grease helps!) Fried okra was very good. Fried chicken was moist with a great crispy skin. Macaroni and cheese was pretty good. Negatives: Very limited salad bar offerings. Mashed potatoes had a distinct taste of being instant. Sweet potatoes had an unusual sweet taste that we couldn't identify. (Maybe artificial marshmallow?) Peach cobbler was very, very sweet. All in all, not a great dinner, but not bad, either. Service was fast and staff was very friendly. Their new building is spotless. We will return for dinner to order off the menu as I am eager to try their catfish and my wife wants to give their hamburgers a try. read more

Nice little buffet in Ardmore. The staff is great and they are very attentive. It's good southern cooking at a good southern price. Mildred's has a cabin look on the inside. When we walked in, I wasn't sure if we needed to wait to be seated at a table or what. A sweet elderly lady, who was sitting down at a table facing us and eating, told us in a very kind manner that we could seat ourselves. The buffet was great and the fried green tomatoes are southern as can be and delicious as they can get. Love it. The waitress was very polite and helpful. The prices were excellent for that quality of a buffet. Not a huge selection, but a high quality one. We will definitely be returning to this establishment. read more

Stopped by on way through to Nashville. Place had great reviews and parking lot looked busy. Buffet looked picked over, best parts of desserts had been taken, so ordered off menu. Stopped in on a Sunday, traveling from Nashville to New Orleans. The gentleman that greeted us when we walked in the door immediately made us feel special. He was genuinely so excited that a group of people from New Orleans had stopped at his restaurant. The food was equally as good as the true southern hospitality. Fried chicken, green bean casserole, hot dinner rolls, banana pudding.... everything we ate was on par with the best country comfort food I have ever eaten. THIS is a southern buffet. Like when I pine in Oregon over how much I miss and want southern food I wish this place would show up. I would have never known about this place unless I needed to break from a snow storm and I am glad I did. Where to start??.. fried foods: chicken, cat fish, green tomatoes. On point! The gravy was amazing and went with the stuffing and mashed potatoes so well. The mac and cheese was amazing. The veggie sides amazing. The salad bar was great too and the desserts and fresh soft serve... yes! If anything the sweet tea was like a 4.5 out of 5... but no complaints!
