To be honest I was worried about coming here after the reviews. However, my roommates and I live…read morenearby and drive by regularly and regardless of what you think of the food you cannot deny the setting is beautiful. Finally our intrigue outgrew our wariness and we decided to go for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by everything we encountered! We were seated promptly and our server was awesome! We order the queso as a starter and the serving size was massive and fed our group of 4 PLENTY of cheese. I personally ordered the chicken fajitas and while I wouldn't say there was anything impressive about them I did think they were good. Additionally we ordered the lobster Mac and cheese, pork sliders, and chicken tortilla soup. All of us came to the conclusion at the end of dinner that we really enjoyed our time at Lago Del Pino and thought our food was good. It's definitely a place you go to more for the view and atmosphere than the food but that doesn't have to mean that the food is bad! I'd recommend coming out and trying it for yourself if you're on the fence.

The only indoor seating was around the bar. Place is dirty because of the new flooring. Probably should have just shut down for the night to clean. We started with the trio appetizer. The queso has been sitting for a while and there was a skin on top when they served it, the street corn is old, and the salsa is middle of the road. We met our daughter and her boyfriend for dinner. When the waitress came over instead of taking drink orders she asked if we wanted to do shots. We opted for water. He had the shrimp Alfredo. It only came with 4 over cooked shrimp. My wife and I had the fajita special. This is nothing special. They cut the meat with the grain instead of against it, so it made them chewy. And just tasted like grilled flank steak not really fajitas. The waitress through the whole meal was hard to find and we ended up waiting for about 20 minutes to get the check. Mind you there were only 6 people at the bar plus the 4 of us. We were the only people in the whole place. We might come back in the fall for drinks and the live band but not the food.

There's plenty of nice local establishments, but some can be pricey and some are just more casual than you want. Scott Williams has perfected the restaurants of Tyler that are balanced between affordable and still quite nice. He got his toes in the water with FDs, before expanding into Javi's, Twelve, and now the fanciest of them all in III Palms. I thought of all those options, Twelve would be the most unique and tasty for my girlfriend and I. We went in an hour before they closed on a Sunday and were seated immediately. We weren't too hungry so we didn't expect to be there past their closing time, and we were ready to go. Our waiter was quick and attentive, bringing us water and helping us decide on drinks from the bar and our order. He also showed us their insane over-the-top whiskey menu. If you like whiskey, give Twelve a shot I guess. To order, I just got their 'Osaka Style' Pressed Roll while my girlfriend got a Sushi Bowl Salad. We got Sweet Potato Fries to share. As for drinks, I started with their Monkey See, Monkey Do, an impressive and firm beverage, while my girlfriend ordered their Destin Dream, a fun Pina Colada-like drink. It wasn't long before our food came out. The sushi was beautifully plated with some wasabi and pickled ginger on the side. I destroyed all the rolls. They were all very fresh and very high quality, which was remarkable for their $13.50 price tag. My girlfriend's sushi bowl looked insane. She ate most of it, but I filled the gaps and devoured the rest of it. The sweet potato fries were crispy and heavenly like all sweet potato fries usually are. I felt adventurous and I got a second drink of their Rose Garden, which was simple but flavorful. Compared to FDs, the menu might be a little more sea-inspired and more adventurous, but I think it leads to better, more unique food, especially with offerings like Oyster Rockefeller and a sushi bar. I also know Twelve does a great brunch as well, so keep that on your radar. Ultimately, as the bill came, the price was very manageable even with the alcohol. It's nice that you don't fully have to break the bank to have a nice meal in Tyler thanks to places like Twelve. I rate it a 12/10. Get it? hahahaha... RIYL: A slightly adventurous, but affordable night out.
