My husband and I were looking for a place to get fitted for running shoes for the first time. We've done research and Milestone Running continued to pop up with great reviews compared to other stores like Road Runner. We walked in on a Saturday morning and while there were a couple of parties ahead of us, we were still seen in a timely manner without having an appointment. While we waited for our turn, we browsed around the store with its decent collection of clothes, gear, and some nutrition. They also had some shoes on sale displayed outside. Michelle helped both of us and we had a fantastic experience with her. She truly took the time to help us out and she really seemed knowledgeable given her experience at the store and with all things running. I appreciated how she reiterated not to compare others' reviews because it's different for each person. She first evaluated what type of other exercises we do and our "level" of running and we went from there. Overall, we tried about 4-5 different pairs, each time giving us an opportunity to run on the side walk to assess the feel. I even went back out multiple times trying out a different shoe in each foot. I was between 2 pairs of shoes and Michelle advised me to think it over and to not rush the decision which I truly appreciated! I first heard this running store was here because there's a run group that comes by my house every Wednesday and I was curious where they were coming from. Discovered this place because of my son. He was running cross country for his high school and his coaches recommended that he come here. The staff treated him really well. They listened to him watched the way he ran in the shoes it and made great suggestions. He tried over 5 shows. We bought shoes here several times for him. They have a crazy exchange policy even if you use the shoe you can return it if it's not meeting your needs My husband and I also bought shoes from here and they gave us the same great service. Merchandise: Solid collection of top reviewed running gear. The shop's run (ha!) by very active athletes, and what I appreciate most is that they only sell gear that works well. You won't really see many cheap, generic versions of stuff. Only the brands and products you'd expect to see used by actual runners. Prices are actually comparable (my order was cheaper at the store itself) to Amazon, without even factoring in discounts. Service: If they don't have a shoe your size, they will order it for you to be shipped to the store. I was out of town for quite a while (about a month) after my order arrived at the store, and the shop very generously held on to my order until I came back. I came to Milestone Running in North Park when I was ready to take running more seriously. It was time to upgrade and I came to check out their selection. They carry a wide variety of shoes to choose from. The prices are similar to what you'd pay at other stores. Literally the store has everything you'd need for running from accessories, fuel, etc. They fit you for several shoes and styles based on the type of running you plan on doing. I thought it was great they let you run around the block to test them too. I didn't have a perfect experience though. I had to put in a request for New Balance shoes from their Pb location because they didn't carry the color I wanted. I never got a text or call about when they arrived to the store for pick up and ended up going to a larger retailer. They have run clubs during the week that I've checked out also. I initially came in to get some plantar fasciitis socks as I was having a bad flare up. I called ahead and they said they had some in stock. I chatted with one of their employees about the sock and the sleeve options, he told me the benefits of each and told me I was welcome to try any of them on which was very helpful in allowing me to make an informed decision. I opted for the socks instead of the sleeves so I wouldn't have to wear another layer and my toes wouldn't be as squished. He also gave me suggested about stretches and said that might be a good option to try first, which I appreciated but I knew I wanted something that could provide me more instant relief as the pain was pretty bad. He was very knowledgeable about the subject about how the tightness of my calves might be contributing to the pain. I also talked with him about the shoes I wear and thought it would benefit me to try on some with his advice in mind. I tried three different styles and went back and forth for a while until settling on the New Balance 880v 15.I need to wear all black shoes for work and he made sure to only bring out shoes that offered an all black colorway. They didn't have the 880s in black but they placed an order for me, which I wasn't obligated to buy and didn't have to pay for until pickup. The shoes arrived within a week and I got a call letting me know they were ready for pickup. The shoes and socks have been great and my pain has decreased significantly. I'm really glad I found this place and that I was able to try stuff in person and didn't have to go to a big box store. read more

I enjoyed visiting this store. I am a nurse and needed new shoes. I have been experiencing a lot of pain in my feet with my usual shoes. I ended up buying Altra shoes and Saucony socks. Super happy I went to Milestone instead of one of their competitors I usually visit - was so nice having the small business feel when they were helping me out. I came on a Saturday & got helped right away, by a super positive gentle helpful woman who showed no judgment for me being out of shape & not having bought a new pair of shoes in a while. I explained the injury I've been dealing with and she brought out a ton of pairs for me to try, to help ease the injury. I found the right pair for me & was in and out in under 30 minutes, although I think she would've kept pulling pairs if I'd needed it. It even cost the same as what I'd expect from a big chain store, but without the hassle or discomfort I usually feel there. If you want them to fit you, then you will no doubt leave there with the best shoes for your feet. Normally-my teenage son and I get the stink face look from employees when we walk into a business that's totally out of our element. Today as we entered Milestone Running, we expected the same treatment. Not just because we are a combined 600 pounds of shaved heads and baggy clothes made fit to star in the next Mayans MC episode or Breaking Bad sequel...but because we definitely don't look like runners. When we opened the door, three employees all treated us as if we were ready to be seated at a fancy restaurant. They hit us up with a few questions based on our interest and all we had to do was say a few key words like "trail, hike, wide". Next thing I know dude walks in the back and comes out with 8-10 boxes of shoes. We tried on different pairs looking for our first real trail running shoe. Gotta admit the information and knowledge the salesman had was too advanced for the remaining brain cells I hold on to so I just went with what was the most comfortable. This is not an easy task as my feet are shaped like camp griddles. Flat and wide! So with that alone I definitely had to give 5 stars out to my guys here for #1 having the patience to deal with me and my son as new customers. This was my 1st shopping experience since San Diego started opening back up after the covid lockdown. Due to store closings, I had been buying shoes online for a foot problem and each pair had to get returned. When you have feet problems especially, there is no substitute for a brick and mortar shopping experience where you can try dozens of shoes to see what works. Julie was fantastic in measuring my feet and inquiring about my specific issues. I really wanted to get a pair of Hoka's but none of the models worked with my neuroma. I settled on a pair of Altra's (a brand I had never heard of before). They worked for my neuroma but unfortunately caused some other back issues. But no worries, they have a 30 day return policy so I'll be heading back to try on more shoes. They have a good selection so I'm sure I'll find the right shoe. Also, a yelp check in gets you 10% off. I always wonder how a business can get a solid 5 star review....but after shopping here I can say it is well deserved. read more

Quite possibly the best customer service I have ever received! Came in to replace my old running shoes. I was quickly greeted and given a suggestion to try and moments later another employee came out to provide more one-on-one attention. I explained that I wasn't really a runner anymore but looking for a shoe that would work for daily walks and weekly runs. The gentleman had me go outside and looked at my jogging and then provided me with probably 10 options to try based on our discussion. I sat down one on one with an employee and went over what I was looking for, high arch support, room for my hallux valgus (bunions lol), and lightweight for long distance running! I've never had wides before and really appreciated him explaining why my feet needed more room to splay out while running. I also loved that they had a huge selection of running gear and apparel. I worked with a guy named alex who assisted me every step of the way. He measured both my feet, watched me walk and assessed my walking pattern and chatted with me about my walking habits. He brought out 5 pairs of shoes he thought would be best for me based on my needs. The first pair he gave me ended up being the pair I went with. He helped educate me on shoe life and care and what socks to wear. (I've been doing it all wrong).
