I came to my neighborhood running store with the intention of getting a few answers about my running routines/pains. They could have easily sold me their newest running shoe and I would have bought it. There are few things for which I'm willing to buy a top of the line product. Running shoes are one. And, yes, I assume $130 for a pair of shoes is top of the line. Running shoes over $200 are not even on my radar and I assume would be bedazzled and only for Kim Kardashian's feet. Why would I pay over $100 for running shoes when you can find big name brands well under that price at every sporting goods store? Well, it's because I hate running and the more cloud like and comfy my shoes are, the more likely i am to get out and run. And, more comfy equals more money in my experience. When I walked in (pre Covid), I told them that I liked a cushier sole, and they brought out about 8 pairs of shoes without batting an eyelash. They filmed me running on a treadmill, but I don't remember the results of that analysis. I'm sure it helps some people though. All I know is that I elected not to run outside because it seems weird to test out brand new shoes that you haven't yet purchased in the dirty outdoors... I selected the Brooks Ghost 12s pretty quickly and didn't feel guilty paying retail since the customer service is so great at this small but stocked store. read more

This is the only running store I go to. The staff is extremely knowledgeable of shoes. The appearal is always paired nicely with other outfits. As well as the sales rack, some good finds for sure, not random junk you see in stores. The group runs on Monday and Wednesday at 6 p.m. are great it's my time to run and take my stress out on the pavement. On occasion, they will have pizza, drinks, and gear they give out for attending the group run. That's NOT including the raffle after each run. Have you ever seen a Nike store do this?? I found this place during a group run, and we were able to try on shoes, go for a run, and have the option to purchase afterward. I was blown away! I found a new brand of shoes I loved....Hoka. And a place I felt safe to run in the evening as you're running with 40+ other runners. Dylan, and Greg are awesome! I went in this past Saturday, and they are always willing to help and explain with any questions you might have. I've been coming here for a few years now. I tell all my UPS co-workers about this store so they can come get their work shoes here. Since we are on our feet all day we need something comfy and reliable. The staff is always friendly, and with a great attitude. Why would somebody go anywhere else? They never try to up sell you or get you to buy more expensive products. My problems is going in and always finding a little more than what I was looking for haha but that's on me. Came here thinking i would get stuck here for awhile! I had an hour before it was time to pick up the kids from school. The location was okay. I did not see a parking lot, but more of street parking. I scored a spot right in the front of the store. The place had a lot of "running gear" and boxes of shoes on tables right outside. There is plenty of things for every kind of runner or walker. I came looking for a new pair of running shoes since my last shoes were starting to give me pain in my Achilles every time I used them to work out. There were a few other ppl in the store getting helped before I came in. I had to wait maybe 5 mins, which wasn't a big deal. August was the one who helped me out. He brought out some neutral pairs of shoes, which I tried on for fit to get a basis. I also learned my original shoe sizing was incorrect and I should be in a size bigger to allow more movement for my feet in my shoes while I run. A smaller size limited that, which made a lot of sense to why running was never comfortable to me. So I picked out a neutral pair.. got on the treadmill and checked out my running style. It was amazing how much knowledge came from just a few seconds of running footage. All in all, I was able to find a new pair of Hokas all in about 20 mins! Definitely a must for future epic running adventures! read more

I have insanely flat feet and have always struggled with running, I visited Road Runner Sports and just felt like they were trying to sell me anything and everything once I walked through the door. My experience here was starkly different, Shelby helped me out and asked me numerous questions before making a recommendation. His recommendations were backed with explanations and suggestions behind the use-case of each shoe. I completed my first marathon in the shoes and I am so thankful Shelby recommended sizing up to account for my foot swelling. I have been going to running stores for the past 30+ years (gulp!) in multiple states and this is one of the best (if not the best) I have gone to. Not only because they have a good selection and friendly, patient and knowledgable staff but because how much they do for the local running community. They have (free) multiple weekly club runs at their locations with a 100+ people that show up which provides a good range of distances and paces for both advanced and beginner runners. They really make it a fun, welcoming and awesome environment. They raffle prizes, offer demo shoes to try, etc. Many of their employees are also very talented runners but also very cool and down to earth. read more

WEDNESDAY EVENING RUN CLUB!!! This place is awesome. Awesome running store - cute apparel on the racks, variety of running shoes, and super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Tonight was my first time coming to Milestone Running Shoe Store and running with their run club. I found my Wednesday evening run club! Smaller group but everyone is very friendly - they all seem to know each other. Meeting new running friends tonight was awesome and I look forward to running with more San Diegans. 1) Choice of 3 mile or 5 miles 2) Snacks and drinks after the run 3) Raffle of fun prizes 4) Bar/Restaurant for the aftermath I bought new shoes here (Nike Structure for $103 with SDTC member 20% discount). SDTC members getting 20% discount on merchandise at this store. I've notice the SD running community is small and see familiar faces from SDTC on Tuesday nights. Is SD a two degree separation kind of place?! So many shoe selection from Nike, Brooks, Hoka, Asics, etc. I went for the Nike Structure because it's a step up from the Pegasus. I tried the Brooks but the fit wasn't for my arched feet and long "finger" toes. RUN CLUB on Wednesday nights at 6pm hosted by Greg. Sign in a card which will be stamped every run and at 15 stamps you get a cool Milestone bottle opener. At the end of the race, Greg will do a cool raffle to win fun prizes. And if you have time and energy to continue the night they hit up a bar/restaurant for beers and food. I wasn't able to join this tonight but will be joining them every Wednesday. I had plenty of questions about running and the proper attire and what to look for depending on different terrains. All my questions were answered with additional information to help me find the right pair of shoes. When I told them what I was looking for they started me off with a neural pair to evaluate my comfort level and gait. After establishing the best type of shoe for my needs I was given 2 recommends to try. In total I was able to try on 7 pairs of shoes before finding the perfect fit. The associates were kind, knowledgeable, and patient with all my questions and jogs up and down the sidewalk to get a feel for each pair I tried on. They have a great selection of shoes for anyone at a great value. They also provide a fantastic military discount. I came in yesterday to get some shoes and get my gait analyzed on the treadmill, since I've been dealing with some painful plantar fasciitis. I've always been a little intimidated by stores like this because I'm not a fast or good runner- 5k at a nice jog pace is about my max. But no one likes painful feet, not even us slow runners. I was helped by Chad, who spent so much time with me helping me find the right shoe for me. He put me on the treadmill with a few different pairs of shoes including the ones I brought in with me- crazy to see what the right pair of shoes can do! I love Milestone! I came in on a Saturday morning after work, and was greeted with excellent customer service. There were 2 ladies working there (forgot to get their names) and both of them helped me out. I was looking for a running/walking shoe, and I had advised them I do have plantar fasciitis to help them with choices as I've always had bad luck with running shoes. They give you so many to choose from! They assess your gait and allow you to run/walk outside of the store with every shoe you try on, which really made a difference in my decision. I never felt rushed or pressured to buy anything, and I felt they truly wanted me to find my perfect shoe. They are super knowledgeable about running shoes and answered all my questions about fit and feel. And on the plus side, there is a 30 day return policy if the shoes don't work out for you, which I think is amazing! The worker advised me to try them out and bring them back if I didn't end up liking them since I was in between 2 shoes. They don't rack up the prices super crazy like other stores. I will admit, before going to Milestone--which is only 5 min from where I live--I went all the way up to a big corporate chain that rhymes with "toad stunner". Immediately turned off by the fact I had to give out contact information and wait 30 min just to try on shoes, I went to Milestone. Julie went above and beyond bringing out different shoe styles and listening to my feedback. She took the time to educate me on the general principles for finding a great fit for a running shoe. I also learned that I have been buying my shoes a couple sizes too small which would explain why my feet hurt all the time.
