As I am scouring Southern Maine for unique coffee shop experiences, my mother insisted we stop in to try this cozy, unsuspecting place in a shopping plaza I had been to a dozen times. I never noticed this secret tasty haven tucked in the corner of what I always called the Goodwill plaza amongst the busy Gorham hustle and bustle. Upon entering I was pleased to find traditionally well dressed baristas and bakers hard at work to produce a product you could tell they were proud of. I even caught a glimpse of a quick hug shared amongst the staff- letting me know that this establishment was serving just as much love as they were tasty treats. Now me? I tend to go for darker areas, low dim lighting. But this naturally lit space still declared a cozy aura- with the browns, reds, blacks, and subtle pops of color. My mother and I chose to sit outside to enjoy the remnants of the summer weather- where we were teased by friendly bumble bees and delighted by passing puppies and their owners. And of course- who doesn't love a lovingly made latte'! Ok, this place is GREAT! SO unassuming from the outside, yet so excellent on the inside. What a beautiful space. I stopped in on a random Saturday on my way to buy flowers and stopped in the Sullivan House Bakery for lunch. I ordered a big bowl of chicken and greens soup and an iced coffee. You can also sit outside which is nice but along side the parking lot, inside is WAY better! read more

This is the cutest little spot! It's tucked away but it's definitely walking distance from downtown Gorham and USM. The workers here are always cheery and the menu, though small, is entirely delicious. They have cinnamon rolls as big as my head and it's always warm in there. A great spot for coffee and catching up. I love the mirrors and the decor inside. read more

On this cold, rainy fall day there's no better place to be sitting than in this wonderfully warm and friendly coffee shop. They are now celebrating their two year anniversary and they are "bringing bread back!" I'm looking forward to trying some of their delicious homemade breads. They have a good selection of sandwiches for lunch and salads and their espresso is tops. The owner carefully chose a good espresso machine and she uses CBD coffee (Coffee By Design) that is freshly roasted and ground. It is smooth and rich with a wonderful crema on top. I also tried their cheesecake brownie, which is very rich and delicious... and I'll have to save some for later. If you're in the area stop on by. What a great new place in Gorham. Wish they were open a little bit earlier, but always worth a visit after I get to work to stop by and pick up a few treats for the office, and of course coffee. These coffee by design, which I already love. And all of the bakery treats, are out of this world. They are also huge! So plan to share. Love the decor and fun seating areas for a group or alone. This was our first time visiting Sullivan House Bakery. When we walked in the bakery was so inviting. Not your typical bakery where you go in buy your pastries and leave. We ordered our pastries and a big delicious cup of coffee. They have a nice coffee bar so you can add your own cream, milk, sugar, cinnamon and more! We sat at a long, dark wood table with six high back chairs. I was so comfortable enjoying my coffee and delicious brownie. I must share the pastries are big and shareable. We will be returning again to enjoy maybe a cinnamon bun or lemon square or one of each! Lol Customer service was good. Dining area - A P.S. make sure you look at the ceiling. It's a warm place to meet up, good coffee and service... however, every time we go, there always seems to be a child (or toddler) crying and yelling. Why don't parents remove these children? It ruins *everyone else's experience! When I was a young mother and my daughters would meltdown (kids just do that), I took them out of the restaurant to be polite to every one else. Why don't parents do this anymore? Why must we ALL have our experience ruined by someone else's child? Even the staff were trying desperately to keep their cool. Still, loved the mini carrot cakes! Stopped in before a hockey game, wow fantastic. I had a raspberry danish that had the perfect proportions of raspberry cream cheeses to pastry dough. Sooo good. My wife had an egg white sandwich biscuit that was great! Well worth the stop!! Oh and super nice staff and CBD coffee! read more

Absolutely delish and creative food that has never failed to deliver in the dozen or so times I have visited. My husband and I love the breakfast treats (the cinnamon roll, the muffins, the biscuits) and our #1 favorite is the hand pies that are stuffed with eggs, cheese and either a protein or veggies. We stopped here for breakfast while visiting Portland. It was excellent. My husband and I split a large chocolate chip brioche and got a chocolate chip cookie and a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. Everything was outstanding. We happened to be nearby around lunchtime and stopped in on a whim. Now I will be making excuses to go back to Gorham to eat there again. Charming atmosphere, lovely assortment of baked goods and lunch foods. Staff was friendly and service was quick. My two kids and I each found a lunch and desert that sounded good to us. Stopped by to check them out. They have done lovely things with the space, and It's a very comfortable looking spot for coffee and a snack. I picked up a few things to try. The rosemary/Gouda biscuit was Excellent. Great rosemary flavor and came with some tomato bacon jam. The only concern was the center was a little doughy still, probably due to its size. The peach scone was GIGANTIC but sadly lacked any real flavor or sweetness. I wanted some vanilla or ginger or something....I was just kinda...bland. Overall I think this is a much needed spot in the Gorham area and I will try them again! read more

not a big selection, and the prices were really high. I got an almond cake that was maybe 3 inches in diameter and one inch tall, and it was $6... I gave it a try anyway hoping it'd be like marzipan inside, but just a dry almond flavored cake, nothing special. Will not go back. read more
