Love the Milk Bar!! We visit usually at least once a week for after school treats. Their croissant sandwiches are hands down THE BEST and a great, affordable option for a quick bite. The staff are always super friendly and welcoming. And if you have little Littles who aren't ready for an entire milkshake they are happy to split the shake. Most amazing staff ever! My favorite sandwich in the universe is Christmas in July Sammy. Talk about just emotions and goodness in a bite!! Well I ordered one for pickup and on my way was hit by a truck at Claiborne and S,Carrollton. I called them to tell them it'd be a couple hours bc of Mardi Gras and a police unit under staffed. This place has cows everywhere! It seems like they've gotten some new ones recently. Such adorable decor. Service was fast even though they were busy. I had a go bananas milkshake and my honey had a caramel carumba milkshake today they of course were amazing. We have never had a bad milkshake at this place! It is right on the St Charles line of the street car. They've got a clean bathroom and paper towels. There's free water out on the counter. Milk Bar was so yummy! I came with a friend and we were looking for an easy meal and stumbled upon milk bar. There was a ton of people inside. It was kinda hard to find a place to sit but spots cleared up pretty fast. I got the Christmas in July sandwich and it was great! The sandwiches are huge too, so I had enough left over for another meal! My only complaint is that it was pretty hot inside the building, but I think it's worth it to come anyways. If you're looking for a great salad, come to Milk Bar. It's rare that I can find inventive salads at a lunch spot but Milk Bar offers seven amazing salads. I tried the Mediterranean Lamb Salad which comes with these cubes of roasted eggplant that really make the salad interesting. The Milk Bar did not disappoint. The sandwiches and milkshakes are excellent, and there are veggie options in sandwiches and salads. The staff was super friendly. This is well worth a trip. Our suggestion would be to take the streetcar. I am always skeptical when Yelp says a restaurant has the best sandwich in the State, but I think they may be right. I've had Milk Bar on my radar for months. Not bad, but didn't live up to my expectations. Clean little strip mall setting, with one table outside and 6-8 inside. The cow motif is homey. Friendly, quick service. Tried two sandwiches, the George Clooney and the Occidental Oriental. Both were fine, and may even be considered excellent in other cities, but in this town, we're used to more flavor. We've got a dozen sandwich & poboy shops that are way better. The Clooney was just boring. The oriental was a bit more flavorful, but nothing that I'll be craving or making the trip back uptown for a second visit. read more

Ordered what is considered the sandwich to order: Occidental Oriental. They seem to specialize in coffee and milkshakes though, looking at the decor. The store is part of a corner plaza in the edge of east Carrollton. The sandwich came hot with melting cheese, but it was just toasted banhmi. Bun was light and crunchy with peanut sauce and same trimmings just with chicken slices. It was good, but not best in state. Holy Cow! I've been working near this place for the past two weeks, and kept meaning to try it, but it closes at 5 PM, when rehearsals end. Today, though, I came out early to ensure I had a chance to try it, and it was very much worth it. It was hard to choose from a selection of sandwiches that all looked so good, and just as I finally decided on a chicken parm po'boy, I saw the daily special, a pork banh mi. I couldn't resist and I'm glad I didn't. This was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The bread to filling ratio was perfect. The bread was wonderfully crusty, but not too dense. The meat was tender and flavorful. The sauce was delicious, and just the right amount. I didn't eat in, as I was ordering just before closing time, but it had a relaxed, funky vibe that I really liked. I am one of those possibly unhelpful people who only writes a review of it was AWESOME or AWFUL and this was the former. I came in on a Tuesday around noon and it took about 5 minutes for my sandwich to be ready. They offered me a cold water while I waited. After 5 minutes, 9 people came in to get in line so be prepared to wait s little. This place is always booming. I got the clooney's choice and it was great. Clearly Milk Bar turned this location around since my last review (in 2014). When my first lunch choice was unexpectedly closed, I was hunting around for a new spot and this popped up in my Yelp search and I immediately started thinking about my favorite sandwiches. I had the always yummy Shirley Valentine AND a cup of the soup of the day which was tomato basil. The SV was delicious and filling as always and the soup hit the spot. I need to get back over there for a Shrimply the Best soon. I miss having them closer when they had a spot over on Prytania, but then their milkshakes were dangerously close to my house. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Most folks take out but there are some tables to dine in but don't plan to linger. The parking lot for the strip mall usually has spots but there is also off street parking. read more

Fun moo cow art decorates the walls and a good amount of rotating self seating. I ordered the Aubergenie and Occidental. On this trip I added, chips. Both sams came bagged individually with an added lolli for dessert, it was perfect for my impromptu picnic. My sandwich was so juicy and big that I shared it with another friend and was more than full on just 1/2 a sam. So, I have a story for you. This place used to be downtown- by Tulane's Tidewater building. I went in one August afternoon for a sandwich. Got it wrapped up and took out my wallet to pay. Credit card machine was down and I had no cash. Guy behind the counter said- 'get me next time.' Two days later, Katrina shut NOLA down. We moved away, but we have a college student who decided to go to NOLa. I'm driving around and I see 'The Milk Bar' on Carrollton. Can't be. I go up, see the menu on the door- it is. I'll be danged. I go in, order, eat- sandwich was fantastic- and the place starts filling up. They start running out sandwiches and there's the guy. I go up to him, $20 in hand and tell him the story. He won't take my money. He just laughs. I leave it on the counter and start to go and he says, 'Wait, I'll get you a shirt.' Ignore the strip mall location. This sandwich shop is one of the best uptown. The bread is made in house and the different kinds of sandwiches- all are good. A really great spot for sandwiches! They have a great selection, with my favourites being the Sweet Thai Chilli Chicken and Christmas in July (pictured). The portion is quite large so it can be split across two meals, and they accept NOLABUCKS, which makes it a really great option for Tulane students.
