What a great little place. The vibe is nice, the decor is cute and 1950s diner-y and the staff are lovely. I had a great patty melt (bread nice and crispy around the edges as it should be, patty nice and thin, lots of grilled onions, a very good sandwich) along with excellent shoestring fries. For me, fries need to be very thin. These are terrific. Hubs and my mother in law had the chicken and biscuit which is a Sunday special. Both of them liked it but said it was a little too salty. The piece de resistance was the soft serve ice cream at the end. They make their own mix for this and it's TERRIFIC. Sometimes soft serve can be a little icy, but this is creamy and very very smooth. They offer diner food options and ice cream which you can swing by and take to go! What finally got me here with the Chicken and Dumplings dish that they only had on Sundays after 4pm. I arrived a little early that day having of come from the ferry. So I got the burger while I waited for 4pm. The burger was decent, a match for a diner burger. The fries were fine as well, I do prefer mine crispy. The chicken and dumplings were worth the wait and brought back fond memories of this yummy dish. Service: I sat at the bar and was served by several staff members. They were all really nice. Had to come try the new kid in town! We arrived right at 5 p.m. on Sunday--good thing, because the place filled up fast, fast, fast! It's got a cute little diner atmosphere, a total change from the previous restaurant, and definitely more family-friendly. They're still on their soft-opening menu, but I started with the Gin & Celery--wow, what a combination! Hard to describe except that it truly tastes like celery. The gin isn't overpowering (which I liked). I'd love to try it again with a splash of tomato juice. Maybe I'll sneak some in. My son went for the burger and fries, while I chose the Tuna Melt with side salad. Not much commentary from him, but the burger disappeared quickly--always a good sign. I stole a fry--perfectly cooked, hot, and crunchy. The tuna melt was nicely toasted; the tuna salad is more on the savory side (I usually prefer sweeter), but that's just personal taste. The salad was a standout--baby greens in a delectable garlic vinaigrette. I'll definitely order the full House Salad next time. We wrapped things up with two ice-cream sundaes topped with chocolate sauce and adorable autumn sprinkles. Nice touch, Drift Inn! This place feels like it's going to be a great neighborhood addition. So glad Drift Inn is open for lunch now! We both got the lunch counter burger, me with cheese, and the matchstick fries. The Orange Juliet is the perfect memory of my mall experiences. Seamless service, didn't hurry us out when we hogged the table for almost 3 hours (I kept an eye on surrounding tables and the wait, so hope not too much of a jerk). We got there like 25 minutes before closing, and they still let us sit and order. We ordered the deviled eggs and floats. Both were delicious. My sister said the eggs were the best she's ever had. We each ordered a different sandwich (the burger, patty melt, and grilled cheese). All were great. We came from TikTok, and it looked and felt exactly how the posts made it seem. The only thing we wished we could change was: there were very few modifications we could make like a true diner. And they should add a fried chicken option and shakes to the menu.
