It was supposed to be hot but was lukewarm. Who wants to eat lukewarm chicken? Yuck! Chicken was also bland in taste. Rice and mixed veggies were lukewarm. Taste and preparation of this whole dish (chicken, rice, vegetables) was extremely boring. I also got a small beef and barley soup. The soup had pieces of beef, barley, mushrooms, etc. Soup was a good hot temp and tasted good. Why anyone would get their lunch elsewhere in downtown Boston is beyond me. Hands down the best quality food in the city. Their soups range from Italian Lentil, sweet potato carrot, chicken orzo, or beef vegetable. All food is kosher so you're not getting hormone injected bleach washed meat or chicken. Their salads are fresh and their tuna is from Wild Planet sustainably caught and not farm raised. Because of how busy this place gets during peak lunch hours, I went around 1:15pm and it was way less busy than if I went at 12-1pm time. I was able to get my buffalo chicken wrap right away and they put a good amount of chicken in it. I was able to substitute spinach for the carrot slaw. The chicken was spicy and flavorful. It was not fried which is great. For a $10 wrap, I was actually very full. There were plenty of seating this time because I didn't go when it was busiest. We came here to meet a friend who is Kosher. It was busy and had outdoor seating but we chose to sit inside. We took turns getting food and figuring out the layout (pick the line with lemonade samples if you can) but everyone was friendly and helpful. I got the Milk Street Cobb salad (turkey bacon or tofu bacon) and it was good. Watching them prepare it was a treat too. IF we are in Boston again I'd love to try a dessert. Sitting was more of a challenge, they need more space between tables, I agree it's kind of cramped if you are not a kid or super small. The goals most places is MORE people, not more comfort. Very disappointed in my most recent visit to Milk Street. I heard they were serving the Impossible Burger, which is made with no animal products for a reason. When I went to grab one, they only had it with cheese on it. I asked for one without cheese, waited for the chef who told me it was too difficult to cook without cheese. It was absolutely freezing cold and we had walked several blocks to go to a different salad joint , called Tossed. When we got there, they had decided to close early so we bent our heads to the wind and headed back to the hotel, quite unhappy. When we got back to Devonshire, we saw Milk Street Cafe and decided to go there instead. Great choice! The servers were friendly and efficient and the salad was amazing. I eat there a few times a week. Most because it's convenient. Salads and sushi are reliably good. I never get entrees but they look good and I hear good things about them. Breakfast is also quite nice., The ambiance it somewhat chaotic. Every station has it own cue line and registers are separate. First few time it was confusing but most peeps are regulars so they know the drill. Although I have eaten at their tables once or twice, it's loud and a bit cramped. I was ready to shell out the usually $10-$15 for my meal, and ordered a garden salad and a cup of soup, and a drink. Much to my pleasant surprise, I only paid $6.72 for everything! I think it was because of their 20% deal (which I just realized, looking at their Yelp page), but awesome nonetheless! The garden salad was exceptionally good for a standard salad. The honey balsamic dressing was delicous! I also loved the soup. I order from Milk Street for meetings/events at least once a month, and more frequently during the summer. I'm definitely swayed by their brownie point reward system, I haven't found any other places that offer perks for using their services. The Kosher kitchen is great, I need Kosher meals for a lot of events so Milk Street is my 1st choice. Regarding their food- Hot food - all pretty good, sometimes lacking in flavor. I loved the harvest chicken but that was removed from the menu :(. Sandwiches- all the signature sandwiches are pretty good, and the salads/dressings are great too. The sides I could do without - potato salad, pasta salad, and bread (doesn't come with butter, only margarine is allowed). Desserts- GREAT. Love them all. I tried the gourmet granola bars a few weeks ago and they were amazing! Breakfast- the smoked salmon platter is to die for..the cheese plate and all the other breakfast combos are great too. The bagels do not come toasted so that is the only item I try not to order. Overall, I like Milk Street a lot. It's pricey but they are always on time with deliveries and they always include free totes (only for orders over $200)/small gifts for whomever places the order. read more

The worst thing about Milk Street cafe is that they close at 3pm. Everything else is either fantastic or par for the course with a cafe-style eatery of this high caliber and excellence. The fantastic things are the selection and the quality of food. From the bakery up front and the "hot selections" in the middle of the cafe, to the sushi and deli selections towards the back of the cafe, you will have a pretty hard time deciding what to try when you first get in. My recommendation? Start with one of their always-delicious soups and then continue your culinary journey from there. You will not be disappointed by how flavourful, filling, and, oftentimes, healthy these things are. Now, the "par for the course" things: seating can be a little limited. So, if you are expecting to just walk in during lunchtime (or almost anytime, really) and not have to search for a seat, I encourage you to lower your expectations. Also, some patrons may balk at the prices. Perhaps it's my own privilege of being able to regularly eat healthy foods (and I recognize that privilege) but MSC is actually very reasonably priced for the area. Also, spare your diet and spoil yourself with one of their desserts. Go for the chocolate peanut butter bar for something super-rich or the pecan bar for something with a sweet, sticky edge to it. read more

Had an awesome experience here while visiting Boston with my boyfriend. There is a crazy lack of kosher restaurants so we were really happy to go here for lunch. We decided to start off with some dairy stuff before getting a meat lunch, so we got coffees and a sticky toffee bun and a s'mores bar. Sooo good, and incredibly reasonably priced! ($5 for a coffee and dessert). Then we moved on to the "real" food but we were so stuffed from that. I got a large chicken rice soup, which was great and filling. We came back the next day around 10am - we wanted an earlier start because we had a lot of sightseeing to do. Unfortunately, everything but the breakfast station is closed until 11, which is kind of annoying. We ended up getting prepackaged sandwiches, so not as good of an experience, but there were definitely breakfast options for those who pop in before lunch becomes fully available. read more

I can't believe the positive reviews here. My work caters a lot - and when I see bags of sandwiches from this place, my heart (and stomach) drop. Hands-down, the WORST sandwiches of all the places we regularly order from. I would call their food edible, at best. When I get a sandwich from this place, I eat it only to sustain my body - there is no pleasure given by the food they make here. There isn't much to their sandwiches - meat and cheese on bread - maybe lettuce - maybe dressing. Dry bread. Dry meats - especially the chicken. You could make a better sandwich than this at home. Their prices are very reasonable, and the food is all good, soups in particular. And all food is ORC Kosher certified. Now here's a special hint: Since they close at 3:00 PM, all food is discounted 20% off after 2 PM. Double yum! Take a late lunch here. For the record, this is the location that handles all of Milke Street's catering. At my old job, we used them for pretty much all of our catering needs, and it was always delicious and on time! My office gets breakfasts from here for meetings sometimes, I really dis-like what they offer. I am just not a fan but they are always so busy, especially at lunch time. The muffins, danish, breakfast sandwiches are nothing to write home about and are usually dry. They offer plenty of seating inside and there are what seems to be two entrances but there is really only one public entrance. The other one is for the people who work in the building above, they get some special, secret door that looks like it should be the main door. That's whatever. read more
