This place was absolutely amazing. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. The cone was so fresh. The milk and cereal tasted so good like it was just an amazing time. Been here multiple times and it always hits!!! I love trying the new seasonal flavors which are always unique and fun to try. My favorites include Thai tea, ube, horchata, and their newest flavor, hello summer! The service is good and they let you try a lot of flavors. My favorite location is the westheimer one because of how cozy the interior is!
Definitely my favorite spot to end the night after dinner. Always good and never disappoints. Milk + Sugar offers a wide variety of unique flavors and rotating monthly seasonal flavors. Thai Tea is one of my favorites. They offer cups and waffle cones. You can even split half and half flavors in your cup if you're feeling indecisive! They have private parking and large tables. Definitely a must-try in Houston in my opinion!

I ordered scoops of the yum cha (chrysanthemum and pandan) and Thai tea ice cream and really enjoyed both! I'm so glad the yum cha is a permanent flavor now. The pandan part of the yum cha was better than the chrysanthemum, but both were good. It was smoother and melted a lot faster than the Thai tea. The Thai tea was rich, thick, and slightly grainy but not in a bothersome way. It had a nice amount of Thai tea flavor. Both ice creams were pretty sweet (as expected). The service was fast and friendly. They have some long tables to sit and enjoy your ice cream at. There's also Lactaid pills you can buy for 50 cents. It was a little dark at night. There is a small parking lot behind the building and street parking.
Came to Milk & Sugar for a sweet treat, and it reminded me why this place is one of my go-to spots in the city for ice cream. They consistently deliver some of the most unique and thoughtfully crafted flavors--definitely not your typical "vanilla and chocolate" lineup. You can tell they put real effort into creating combinations that are different but still delicious, and they really do it right. The servers here are always so helpful and genuinely sweet, which makes the experience even better. There's also a good amount of seating inside, so it's an easy spot to hang out with friends or just enjoy your ice cream without feeling rushed. If you're in the mood for something a little different and seriously tasty, Milk & Sugar never disappoints
Everyone should come here at least once. Their flavors are so unique and refreshing. They are mostly east Asian inspired. I had a hard time choosing between them. I ended up getting a panda/ chrysanthemum and happy wife with a cone on top. The staff were amazingly just as sweet as the ice cream. The place was cute and decorated. Great for an after meal dessert or a short date/hang out. You can smell the hint of brown sugar from the waffle cones in the room. There is free parking behind the store.
LOVE THIS PLACE! I cannot begin to say how much Ice cream I've been eating since finding out about this place. From the friendly service, bright and clean interior to the absolutely incredible creative flavors, you cannot go wrong. While I enjoy the more traditional flavors (who doesn't love chocolate?) it's the more unique flavors that truly have me sold. The Yumcha, Hojicha and Thai Tea truly are a perfect match, with authentic and addictive flavors that complement each other perfectly. The rotating seasonal options are also amazing, including the truly revelational corn one. The portion sizes are also very generous, and the split scoop options allow for trying more than one flavor even when you only want one scoop. Another standout factor are the employees. Everyone is always so friendly and helpful, which just makes the entire experience pleasant!
So delicious, the service was nice and it was a line but it went by fast , they let me try some samples , and the homemade brown butter cones was amazing I had the split ice cream cone and it was delicious and reasonable
I loved how creative and unique their flavor profiles are. I went with the yum cha and the ube (vegan option) and was very pleased. My only minor note was that the ube was a touch icier in texture than I'd have liked, but honestly still very good and worth every bite. Looking forward to trying more~
Milk and sugar is my favorite ice cream shop in Houston and I went to their Montrose location on two different occasions the first time I went I got the limited time xoxo flavor, which has a white chocolate base with red velvet gooey butter cake. This was so so gasssss. Very creamy like the happy wife flavor but with red velvet cake bits inside instead. Both times I also got their happy wife flavor, which is one of their signature ones. It is a sweet cream ice cream with almond pound cake. Really similar to the xoxo flavor but with a different cake. I also got the Thai tea and their Thai tea flavor is stronggggg. You can distinctly taste the depth of flavor. This place has never let me down. They have such unique flavors and make them all in house.
Seriously the creamiest ice cream I've ever had! So delicious. This place also seems to take covid precautions seriously, as evidenced by their signage and providing hand sanitizer. I highly recommend the butter pecan streusel. They have such unique flavors, I wish sampling was allowed, but I respect the fact that they're not bc of covid. For my first trip to Houston, I wanted to grab dessert from a few local favorites. I had looked on Yelp about some of the best dessert spots in Houston and came across milk + sugar. I absolutely love homemade ice cream and the flavors I saw listed sounded delicious, so after walking around downtown Houston for a couple hours, I came here and rewarded myself with a cool, sweet treat! I arrived on a Friday around 8:00pm and managed to park in the small parking lot in back of this cute shop on the corner. I walked around the corner into the main entrance and saw it was pretty busy, which made sense since it was a beautiful, but hot, Friday evening. Many f the tables were filled but there were a few seats open so I wasn't too concerned. I didn't get straight in line as I wanted to see and read all the flavors! I had a hard time making a decision as all the flavors sounded great and I really appreciated the young gentleman who took my order for his patience with me! The ordering and cash out process was seamless and quick, which was good as I wanted to dig into the ice cream. I wound up ordering split scoops of "pb cookies & cream" (top scoop) and "happy wife" (bottom scoop) in a brown butter brown sugar waffle cone. Talk about wow! Cookies and Cream is my favorite Hershey's bar and one of my favorite ice cream flavors, but adding peanut butter to it is genius. The whole Oreo cookie pieces were a very nice touch too. The "happy wife" was the perfect way to finish off my waffle cone. I love sweet cream anything, but then adding whole pieces of their home-made almond pound cake sent it to another level. I was so impressed with how creamy their ice cream was but it didn't turn into a melty mess. What really surprised me though was how I didn't feel like I needed to drink a bottle of water afterwards, weird I know, but I've been to a couple homemade, local ice cream shops and it's like they added salt or something to their ice cream and I end up getting really thirsty afterward. Not here though, milk + sugar's ice cream was incredibly refreshing. The brown butter brown sugar waffle cone was excellent too, containing all the ice cream without a problem and not breaking apart at the slightest touch. I thought the prices were very much in-line with the quality and quantity I received. As I was walking out, I saw a freezer where they were selling pints of their flavors - I know that if I lived around here, I'd have one or two in my freezer at home. I'm glad I made it out to milk + sugar! The ice cream they're scooping up here is incredible, probably the best home-made ice cream I've had and that's a big deal coming from me. If/when I'm in Houston, I will definitely be back to try a couple more flavors! read more

TL;DR - very solid ice cream spot that I go to very often. Rain or shine is one of my favorite flavors here. Food - great ice cream selection with my personal favorites being Sunday Funday (hot fudge brownie), Rain or Shine (earl grey lemon), and Thai Tea. The ice cream is very dense and has a smooth mouthfeel, but the amount of heavy cream needed to make it so dense yet scoop-able makes the ice cream pretty heavy. I usually just get a split (2 smaller scoops of different flavors) in a cup or cone, which is the perfect amount for me. Service - pretty standard Ambiance - plenty of seating inside. read more

I would give it a 4.5 The flavors are very creative. Creamy. Not too sweet. Nice balance in flavors. Nothing overpowers one another. I have gotten the "the city that never sleeps", "rain or shine" Honestly "rain or shine" was probably my favorite so far. Earl grey, lavender, lemon. What a fricken combo! Sounds strange. But amazing together. Good balance. Very tasty. I enjoyed myself very much. Would I come back? Yes! There are so many different options that I need to try. And they all look so amazing! Whenever i am in Houston, this place is a must!! The flavkrs of ice cream were so delightful. The bitter pecan was the absolute best. Did I mention the waffle cones, it was so good, i could put it on a plate, add syrup and eat it like breakfast. The prices are very reasonable as well. I will definitely be coming back. read more

Cute ice cream shop with specialty flavors. You walk in and the brown butter sugar waffle smell hits you with its glorious bouquet. They make them fresh daily. "Earl Grey" flavor ice cream is really spectacular, the lavender and lemon is a subtle flavor combination that is perfect. Definitely a late night snack spot!! The ambience definitely gives a late night post-date vibes. Or even if you go alone it's definitely worth a visit, the staff is super friendly and welcoming. I personally added this to my late night snacks list. They have plenty of flavors from cereal milk (tastes EXACTLY like you imagine) to double chocolate, all the way to Thai tea. Personally got the strawberry almond cheesecake and it was so good. Parking is limited but people come and go so no not too much of a problem. Definitely give this place a visit. read more

Milk + Sugar is THE top tier ice cream spot in the area. I don't know how I've overlooked it for so long?!? Ice Cream elders, forgive me! If you've had "normal" ice cream (I'm looking at you Häagen-Dazs, bluebell, or Marble Slab), then prepare to be spoiled. You will not want to go back once you've had a taste of this. Upon entry, the ambiance felt more like an active bar than an ice cream shop. There were tons of people! All with their own cone in-hand. The line took about 10 minutes to get through. Servers are friendly & will let you try a few flavors to find the right fit! Some of the names are deceiving as to what they contain - and you don't want to hold up the line, so PRO TIP: look up the flavors in advance to know what you want to try. Ice Cream | 9.6/10 It's SO creamy. It's almost too good. I chose Rain & Shine along with a scoop of Cereal Milk. Rain & Shine is Earl Grey tea flavored with hints of lavender. It's light & floral. Cereal Milk is absolutely delish! It tastes like the bottom of a cereal bowl with chunks of frosted cone inside. And NOTE: their cone is absolutely FANTASTIC! I've seen this place often on Instagram and was glad I came out to try it! There's a couple of parking spots in the back and plenty of seating indoors. I got the cereal milk flavor which has Frosted Flakes inside and their coffee icecream called "a city never sleeps" . Loved both and they still offer tastings right now so you can sample different flavors before you commit. $5.50 for the split scoop option which is very worth! I also splurged on the waffle cone and enjoyed it very much. Will be back to take family or friends and try new flavors. read more
What's not to love about this place?? Milk + Sugar is such a cute and delicious ice cream place and if I'm ever in the area, I always have to stop by and grab a cone. I love that they can do a split scoop for those like me who have a hard time making a decision. They have plenty of unique flavors and prior to covid- you can try samples of it, but when I went back during covid times, there was no samples available (for good reason). There's not one flavor I would recommend because they're all delicious! The descriptions are really helpful when making a choice, even if you don't get to sample it. You could still sit in an eat your ice cream, but they do require social distancing. I do appreciate the availability of hand sanitizers and their cleaning procedures. Parking can be a bit tough, but sometimes you can get lucky and find a spot around the area. read more

So this place was so good we went two nights in a row! It was so good, we got the same flavors...twice! They do some kind of sorcery because the fruit loops stay crunchy in the "cereal milk" flavors. There's two, we didn't get the one with Frosted Flakes. Between the 5 of us and half scoops we got half the menu. So we can vouch for half of them. Literally one of my most ABSOLUTE favorite ice cream places in houston! For this month, they had a special limited edition ice cream called YUMCHA. It's a mix of pandan and chrysanthemum - it's not too sweet and has the essence of pandan flavor. It's probably one of their best flavors yet! read more
I love this little spot. Okay, so it's located on Westhimer Rd between Shephard and Dunlavy. I'm usually the food guru, but my friend is the one that recommended this place. He knows what I like so I allowed him to pick out my two flavors. And he never disappoints. There is a seating area and a couple of chairs on the side. There is a small parking lot shared with another business in the back, and street parking is available as well. Check them out. I'm definitely a fan. The husband & wife team that owns this unique place, have turned it from a boutique to what appears to be a hot spot in the Montrose area of Houston. Surrounded by estates and houses built for the very wealthy, they make and serve up premium ice-cream in uniquely mixed flavors. The Happy Wife with vanilla pound cake, Follow Your Nose, City that Never Sleeps, Rain or Shine (lavender based), and Heart of Glass are among a dozen flavors that tantalize the taste buds. They also cater events and parties. And while they are open daily from Noon to 9:30, and 'til midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, they also make their business available for private parties from Monday thru Thursday. As far as the customer service, it is nothing memorable either way. The traffic of customers is ongoing, and finding a seat can be quite challenging. Also, their parking lot is pretty small, but you can always park across the way at another business. I don't know that we will specifically return when we're in town again, as it is quite far from our family's home, but as for this experience, it was delightful and we recommend them. read more

I was in Houston, Texas for a few days and after doing some light shipping and sight seeing, a few of us wanted some ice cream. We looked for a few local spots on Yelp and Milk + Sugar popped up with good reviews. Upon walking in, we were greeted and looked at the specials and menu of flavors available. Once at the glass display of all the ice creams, it was too hard to decide so the cashier asked if I wanted to sample a couple different flavors and I'm so glad she did. I actually tried 3 different flavors and ALL were so good making it hard to decide but I finally decided on two and got the split option which allows you to split two flavors for folks like me that can't decide ! Flavors- I had the Strawberry Almond Cheesecake, which was exactly like it sounds. Creamy cream cheese flavored ice cream with amazing swirls of strawberries and graham crackers. My 2nd scoop was called the Happy Wife, which was similar but slightly more tart, great texture with almond pound cake pieces. Service - I am a sucker for great customer service. Although I cannot recall her name, she was the only employee working and was AMAZING! She went out of her way to ensure I got the flavors I wanted and did it with a smile. No complaints what so ever. Be sure to bring your credit cards as this place is a cashless establishment. read more
