Interior is small, but the food is amazing! Stop by if you want Mexican food without a super steep price tag.

But every customer I saw here was treated like family! Most importantly - I had the best pork tenderloin sandwich I've ever had in my life. Having moved from Indiana to Michigan 22 years ago - I can't find a decent one and have resorted to making my own. Although I'm doing a decent job - this is a "next-level" sandwich. My party also ordered a burger, some country fried steak, a breakfast combo - everything was fantastic. My kids, myself, and my wife keep mentioning this meal even a couple months later. I rarely say this - but to me, Iron Kettle is a destination dining location - worth driving half an hour out of your way just to give it a try. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere "casual diner" but comfortable, and the food exceeded my expectations by far. I am already planning a visit back to the area. Not just to see family, but also to see my new friends at Iron Kettle again and sample more of their menu!

Seating is somewhat limited but they are exapnding. They are also known for their pizza and burgers although I've heard everything is great. Indeed, the tiny restaurant on Main Street in Markleville (population 484) is filled most evenings and weekend lunch with guests anxious for the hand breaded sandwiches, hand cut fries, burgers, wings and more. The owner, Doug, began restoring the historic building in 2019. Now he is working to add dining space upstairs for another 15 tables to help accommodate the demand. I was steered to the restaurant by a fellow Yelper from Virginia. I did not hesitate to make the 90 mile round trip drive for lunch. The dining room is small with a couple cloth covered tables and a bar seating. Soft country music fills the room and a gorilla hangs from the ceiling. The tenderloin is incredibly tender, fresh, juicy and hot with a perfectly seasoned breading. I ordered the regular size tenderloin, Doug also serves a larger version that is about a pound of meat. And don't skip the fries - hand cut and crisp. The fries are 5 star too. The service is impeccable, the kind of small town service that makes you feel special. We loved hearing Doug's story. There is street parking on the side of the building. They do a robust carry-out business, as well. They are not currently serving alcohol. They are not opened mid week for lunch- check the hours. It's worth the drive, even from out of state. So good!

They have all the choices of steak but the King and Queen options for prime rib was the path I took. It was top 5 best prime ribs I have ever had. The horseradish cream sauce that was served with it was also to die for. Make sure you have room for dessert because they have many options. I settled for the Grasshopper Pie which was an explosion of different flavors in my mouth. In summary, The Fountain Room stands decor and atmosphere but honestly the food is want you want in a high end place. The bar area itself was really nice with an elegant ambiance, comfy swivel bar seats, and a more upscale vibe. I also have to mention the restroom because it was impressive. Very clean with thoughtful extras like complimentary mouthwash, tampons, and a vanity area. Small touches like that stand out to me. I ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and it was delicious. I would absolutely order it again. My husband got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccolini. He said the meatloaf was okay but not the best he's ever had. I tried the broccolini though and really liked it. For drinks, I had the Wildfire Smash cocktail which I thought was good and my husband had the espresso martini, and he said it was decent. We enjoyed our experience at the bar and appreciated the friendly service. I'd definitely like to come back and experience a full dinner here sometime, noting that it's probably best to have reservations.
