Casual and cute little diner with inside and outside seating. Parking was easy! Came in when it was fairly busy and still had very quick service! Food was out in 5-10 mins once we placed our order. Everyone was very attentive and kind.

Alice's special (subbed toast for english muffin) and no frills French toast
    Isabel T.

Ordered: Alice's special with scrambled eggs and subbed the toast for an English muffin, and the no frills French toast. Also got a coffee. Highlights: No wait around 11am on Friday. Servers were nice and quick! Food was straight forward and just what we needed after hiking Muir Woods for a bit. Notes: I'd say it is pricier (about $40 for everything) but overall good. I'd come back if I were ever in the area (seems like a classic local spot)!

The place was bustling as we came in, seems to be a local favourite and on a nice warm morning the vibes are great to stop for a bite Hash browns were pretty standard, what more do you want from it? My main was the pork belly salad. Unfortunately this is a pretty small dish to be considered with the other breakfast mains, and for its price tag. This would make side salad at best, ingredients wise there are few, the pork belly either was too small to get a good mouth feel or just lacked flavour. Wolfed this down with the hash browns and was still very hungry, I'd recommend another dish

Just outstanding! Came here after hiking with a few folks and we were able to get a nice table on the patio. The service was excellent, everyone was very friendly. I ordered the Mexicali Blue Burger and it was probably one of the best burgers I've eaten. The meat was perfectly cooked, the cheese sauce was just incredible, and even the bread was the right texture. I got a chance to taste the Smash Patty Melt and it was extremely flavorful, great texture as well. Shoreline Coffee Shop is just a sweet spot in a great location with an incredible vibe. I will absolutely be back.

One of the hidden gems in Marin. This is my must stop breakfast stop whenever I'm in the area. The place is no frills; just pure good vibes and amazing food

Had breakfast here during my stay in Mill Valley and loved the old school diner feel. Got quickly seated in a booth, diner coffee was great and had a classic American breakfast with eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast and a pancake. Service was friendly, food came out hot and fast. The bacon here was exceptional. Will definitely return when back in the area. They also have outdoor seating. Seems like it gets really busy during peak hours, we got lucky and arrived just as a table was leaving. No complaints and really enjoyed it!

    Kale Salad

The first thing that strikes you walking through the doors is the exceedingly charming retro diner vibe. That aesthetic alone makes a meal here worthwhile. Luckily, the service and food largely lived up to that initial impression. The servers made me feel like a regular on my first visit and I felt right at home amid the old school diner trappings. My kale salad did almost everything well, but 1) I wish they offered a vegetarian protein add-on; 2) I wish the tomatoes were cut more thoughtfully than what you'd find at a cafeteria; 3) the dressing wasn't spicy as advertised on the menu. Despite those nits, I'd wholeheartedly recommend a trip to Shoreline and look forward to returning.

Man, I love this place. It's my go to breakfast place. The breakfast sandwich and breakfast burrito are amazing. But my fave dish is the meatloaf with softly scrambled eggs plus the jalapeno hash browns. Plus the lattes here are top notch, and the friendliest staff you can imagine.

I ordered the taquitos, which were described as such: "pulled chicken in corn tortillas, dip-fried, with salsa roja, queso cotija, sour cream and guacamole." I was charged $17.98. This may have included a small tip. I received two taquitos which had been chopped up into six pieces and placed over a few ounces of shredded lettuce, topped with about a tablespoon of guacamole, a tablespoon of pico de gallo, a more ample tablespoon of cotija, and a ramekin of salsa roja. All of it was quite frankly bad. For the price, it was borderline offensive. I challenge the assertion that the taquitos are handmade or dip-fried. They taste exactly like the frozen taquitos from Sam's Club. For the amount I was charged, I expected five, or at least three, but two? Really? None of the produce was fresh. The lettuce was browning. The salsa was going acidic. The guacamole was browning. The cotija was okay. Customer service was okay, but no level of customer service could make up for this terrible of a value, as far as the price and quality of the food.

Ambiance is 5 stars, fire pit, outdoor seating, great location. Good wine list. Menu is pasta, pizza, salads, and pasta. The pizzas are thin crust and "fancy". They feature things like feta cheese or carmalized onions. We all agreed that the crust was amazingggg. But it was so thin and floppy that ingredients just slid off. But here's a hot tip- the kid menu pizzas are totally full size pizzas, which the waiter failed to mention. So 1 cheese pizza could easily feed 2-3 little kids. We ordered one for each kid and went home with a TON of cheese pizza leftovers. The zucchini fries are tasty but served with an aoli that tasted like straight mayonnaise. Dinner for 4 , plus tax and tip came to $150. We're going with a solid 3 stars. An overall decent experience, but nothing to get too excited about.

We started with the chips & salsas- the chips were just as I like them; thin, crispy with salt. My sister had the vegan enchiladas and her husband the vegan pozole which he raved about. My son had the trio of carnitas tacos and was quite satisfied. I thoroughly enjoyed the veggie (not vegan as I love my queso) chile rellenos - they were divine. The sauce was perfectly flavored. We shared the churros for dessert- a bit disappointed as they were not crispy & a bit doughy on the inside. Our server was friendly and the prices were reasonable. After waiting in line,…read morereviewing the menu, and finding options that worked with a temporary diet I'm on, I placed my order. Only when it came time to pay was I told they couldn't enter my order because I didn't already have a table. Apparently you're expected to secure a seat before ordering, and there was a wait. I don't understand this policy. One of the advantages of counter-service restaurants is that you order first, then find a table while your food is being prepared. That keeps things moving. Requiring people to occupy a table before they can even place an order seems like it would make everyone's meal take longer and reduce table turnover, which seems counterintuitive and inefficient. The bigger problem is that this wasn't obvious to a first-time customer. I had no reason to think that this restaurant operated differently than virtually every other casual counter-service restaurant I've been to in my life. You only find out after you've already waited in line and are ready to pay. To make matters more confusing, my husband had eaten here before and simply ordered first and found a table afterward, just like he would anywhere else. He had never encountered this policy. If it's only enforced during busy periods, that's exactly when customers should be clearly informed before they spend time waiting in line. I'm sure Hook Fish is popular with regulars who already know how the system works. For a first-time customer, though, the experience was confusing and frustrating. I live nearby, but this was such a poor first impression that I won't be back.

I came around 4:30pm, and the restaurant was empty, so we were seated immediately. Service was quick and efficient. I did hear a lot of the loud conversation between the two girls at the register about Instagram and TikTok.... I ordered the super burrito, which was nicely toasted, but overall it was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't stand out either. There was no real spice or bold flavor, and I couldn't quite figure out what it was missing. The horchata was pretty basic. It tasted more like plain milk with cinnamon sprinkled on top rather than the richer, more flavorful horchata you'd expect. I also tried the Baja fish tacos, which were disappointing. The fish wasn't crispy enough and lacked flavor. The tortilla was easily breaking apart. It's like they took the tortilla straight out of the bag because it was cold and didn't look cooked. It came with tortilla chips that were over-fried and borderline burnt, though I wasn't sure if that was intentional. Another reason this ended up being a lower rating for me is the owner's response to feedback. As you can see in other reviews, Tommy tends to get very defensive when customers leave criticism, which I found pretty unprofessional. After I posted my review, he actually messaged me directly (see screenshot), which was honestly off-putting. Yelp is meant to be a space for customers to share their honest experiences, whether positive or negative, and responding in that way doesn't reflect well on the business. I also live in San Francisco, where there's no shortage of authentic and high-quality Mexican food, so I stand by my opinion. Being told my palate isn't "on point" felt dismissive rather than constructive. If anything, I'd just caution others that if you leave feedback here, be prepared for a defensive response from ownership, which may impact your overall experience beyond just the food. Overall, I was surprised given the strong reviews. The meal felt pretty bland across the board, and unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. Also the owner's attitude doesn't deserve any business. After the owners negative and defensive responses, I know I won't come back.
