Nestled in the village of Millbrook, right along the main roadway, Is the warm and wonderful Millbrook Café. Nothing fancy, but when you walk in, you feel right at home inside. No matter where you're from, it's definitely worth the ride. We were greeted by two young gentlemen, courteous and polite. I could tell the evening would be enjoyable--it just felt so perfect, so right! My bourbon Old Fashioned was one of the best I've ever had. My friend ordered a Montepulciano; one sip in, and he was glad. The waitstaff couldn't have been more pleasant, patient, or kind. In all the years I've lived here, I'd never been, so this was a rare find. The food and presentation were outstanding, from the pork shank to the broiled fish. Cooked to perfection over a wood fire, each meal was a very special dish. The portions are generous--I devoured every bite of my dinner. If you haven't been, give Millbrook Café a try. Went to the Millbrook Cafe on Saturday night with a family of 7 including 2 daughter in laws. Started off with the French onion soup which is always good, just wish it had more cheese. Everyone had the house salad with creamy parm house made dressing which was excellent. Wife and my 2 sons had the Danish baby back ribs with red potatoes and mixed vegetables which they all loved. One daughter in law had the rack of lamb cooked to perfection. The other soon to be daughter in law had the salmon with a hollandaise sauce which she enjoyed very much. My gran had the salmon in a garlic sauce which he cleaned off the plate. I had the seafood #1 which is sole,shrimp and scallops with red potatoes and vegetable which is always very good. The table shared 4 desserts, I don't remember what they were but everyone loved them. (I'm not abig dessert person). The restaurant is cozy, service is always very good. Prices could be a little lower but you do get consistent food quality and service. Yes, we will return. read more

I purchased a $250 gift certificate and gave them my debit card. I was shocked when I looked at my receipt. They charged me $259 and change. I asked why I was charged $259 and the owner told me because I used a card. If I paid cash it would have been $250. I believe it is illegal for them to do this. I went back and returned the gift certificate. I don't want to do business with someone who is trying to rip me off. I purchase gift certificates all the time in different places and have never been charged a surcharge. Enough is enough! read more

Oh my goodness! If you're ever even close to the area do yourself a favor and have dinner here. Classy place. Reservations are a must because it's so good and small. Everything is cooked old fashioned with wood. So far I've had the chicken breasts, Cajun tilapia, and pork chops. Everything was AMAZING. Great bar as well, my Moscow mules and wine were perfect. Worth the drive, wait, and price. It's 4 star instead of 5 because they didn't have ranch or Italian dressing for the salads, I asked for no onions and got them, and the entire experience was great and high end until you got to the cheap crappy cookies at the dark chocolate dessert fountain. Wow! I had the opportunity to sit at the bar and watch the meals being prepared and cooked. This alone was amazing it was just unbelievable to watch the passion of the chef and synchronization by everyone. I ordered a steak and it was awesome & better than Ruth's Chris or any other premier steakhouses. My other observation was the behavior of entire staff seems to be program for 100% to satisfy the customer. (No Karens's here) Then comes the best part..I did not bring my reading glasses so really did not have the slightest clue what the bill would be for this awesome food, service and atmosphere, It turned out to be less expensive than appetizers and beer at the neighboring pub. read more

Stopped here with a reservation with a friend for dinner. Though you wait a little longer than usual for the foods to come out, it's certainly worth the wait. Appetizers were unique, dinner was great, and the crème brûlée was possibly the best I've ever had. The medium rare char that they achieved on my ribeye was first class and very hard to find. Think cozy, warm, and inviting. This is my favorite intimate dining spot in the area. My husband says the food is wonderful. They don't have a vegan menu (barely any restaurants around here do), but they are happy to whip something up for me, usually involving sweet potatoes, roasted vegetables and such. Visiting from Florida and wanted to enjoy a nice dinner with friends. The moment you enter this restaurant you are met by the owner. She welcomed us as if we were visiting her own home. The ambiance of this place is so relaxing and the food is even better. The chef (her husband) was amazing to watch shifting the food in the stone oven. It was definitely a craft. Made reservations a day in advance as I was celebrating my birthday. Arrived for dinner a few minutes early and was advised that the table wasn't ready and would likely be 10-15 mins. The woman proceeds to tell me that "it's beautiful weather", and basically take a walk. It's 7:30pm on a weekday during a pandemic in November, really? Now I understand small restaurants and their constraints during Covid, completely understandable. What I don't understand? No regard for your customers trying to support your business during a pandemic. We come back 15 mins later only to be told: sorry, not ready yet it'll probably be a couple more minutes. Does not even care to ask to give a call when ready but actually expects me to come back a third time? I don't think so. What a shabby, poorly run operation. We ended up going to Barbaro's which had a more expansive menu and enjoyed a very lovely birthday celebration! This cafe never even bothered to call back and follow up about our reservations. We had reservations at a popular restaurant in Rhinebeck but cancelled to eat closer to where we were staying. We are so glad we did! This quaint little restaurant is a gem! The husband/wife team are spectacular with food and service! Everything is cooked in a wood fired oven which adds to the charm. You can see the chef preparing food from any seat in the restaurant. The chefs wife was our server. Very friendly and accommodating. I require gluten free and ordered the surf and turf. She said most everything can be prepared gluten free. The chef did not disappoint. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious! My partner had the lamb and raved about it as well. Dessert was creme brulee! Fabulous! Would definitely return. While the food, which is cooked in a wood-fired oven, is good, the service is poor, mostly because of how long it takes to get your meal. It is not uncommon to wait longer than an hour for the main course to come. The place cannot handle more than a few people at a time, and if they have a large group or party, everyone else has to wait a very long time. They don't even apologize or give you anything to ease the pain. You just have to wait and listen to the owner make the same excuse over and over again. We've experienced this many times, yet they will never tell you when you call for a reservation that they have a large party and you may have to wait to get your dinner. Well, we've decided enough is enough. They've now lost our business and you would be wise to look elsewhere for dining options in Millbrook. read more

It must be nice to be a local, because that appears to be the best way to get good service at the Millbrook Cafe. We are traveling through and stopped for a warm meal, and we were ignored for most of the evening. The locals around us were receiving warm welcomes, hugs, drinks, and food while we wondered how to get the attention of the waitress. Once the food finally arrived, it was very good, if a little overlooked. Paying took as long as ordering, and this restaurant should have three $$$ and not $$. We finally stood up and put our coats on, which finally got the waitresses attention, and she ran over with our check. It was a very expensive meal that should have come with better service. Or at least not a struggle to get any attention at all. We'll find another restaurant on our return trip. read more

The owners are super nice, and the staff always professional yet friendly. Only downfall is if your going out to eat you are scheduling some time there for dinner. Usually in and out within 2 hours. We had dinner here last night and were very happy with it. It's warm and cozy and has some real personality. We stuck with seafood and some white wine and it was all good. I highly recommend it, especially as the nights get cool. Their wood-fired oven makes it feel warm and friendly. My only suggests are to go a little heavier on seasoning - nothing too over the top but I think a few more pinches would add more nuanced flavors to some of the dishes. Fresh herbs probably the way to go. Also I'd add a few more wines to the list and go a little bigger and richer in terms of body and style. Definitely a special good place in the hood! read more

We went to the Millbrook Cafe after a hike at the Dover Stone Church thanks to Yelp. The atmosphere is quaint, inviting, and warm. The watiress was courteous and made every attempt to attend our needs, which she did well. The food was fresh and tasty. The open face Reuben and Salmon sandwiches were great.
