I trusted their professional judgment and agreed to the recommended treatment. During the procedure, the numbing injection was incredibly painful. I've had fillings before, so I knew this didn't feel normal. I remember thinking maybe they just used a different technique, so I trusted the process and didn't question it. Looking back, I wish I had advocated for myself. Ever since that filling was completed, that tooth has been in pain. I lived with that pain for the next 2-3 months, hoping it would eventually go away. Instead, I pushed it to the back of my mind and convinced myself it would get better. When I finally flew back to the D.C. area, I went to the dentist I've trusted for the past 10 years. He took new X-rays of the painful tooth and diagnosed me with pulpitis, an inflammation of the dental pulp. He also showed me that the new filling extended beyond the previous filling. He expressed concern about whether that additional drilling was necessary. He couldn't say for certain that it wasn't, but the look on his face and our conversation were concerning to me. I'm not accusing anyone of wrongdoing. I'm simply sharing the facts. During my comprehensive exam and X-rays at Smiles of Eastlake, there was no indication of inflammation in that tooth. After the filling was done, I developed constant pain in that same tooth and was later diagnosed with pulpitis by another dentist. My biggest issue with Smiles of Eastlake was that the office felt rushed and impersonal. It felt more like a high-volume practice than one focused on individualized patient care. Once my trust was broken, I wasn't comfortable returning. This review is really about two things. First, if you choose Smiles of Eastlake, proceed with caution. Ask questions, advocate for yourself, and don't be afraid to get a second opinion if something doesn't feel right. Second, listen to your body. I ignored persistent pain for 2-3 months because I assumed it would get better. It didn't. Whether this outcome could have been prevented, I don't know, but I do know that ignoring my symptoms wasn't the right decision. I hope my experience encourages someone else to trust their instincts and seek care sooner.

To all new patients that are looking to choose Otay Lakes Dental Group for Dental Care. This bad review is regarding Dr. Quan Alex Lui. I have been a patient at this office for more than 10+ years. During that time, I had no ongoing conflicts, no unresolved issues, and i was never informed that I was considered a problematic patient. On June 17, 2026 I went to the office for a scheduled dental cleaning appointment. I checked in at the front desk and was treated respectfully and professionally. I was then taken in to take x-rays and moved to another area where a dental assistant polished my teeth. After that , I was asked to wait for Dr. Lui to complete my teeth cleaning. I waited for approximately one hour without complaining. After that wait, Dr. Lui approached me abruptly, rudely, and disrespectfully and told me that he refused to provide treatment , that I was a bad patient, and that he did not want to see me ever again. He said this was because of my past complaints about the quality of teeth cleaning not meeting my expectations. I calmly explained that this involved a single incident approximately 3 years ago, when I believed a prior cleaning had not been performed properly. At that time, I had requested that my teeth be cleaned again because they still felt dirty afterward, The office honored my request, the matter was resolved, and I was really satisfied. In fact, Dr. Lui personally re-cleaned my teeth at that time. After that incident , I returned for additional visits and specifically requested that Dr. Lui perform future teeth cleanings. I was never informed that there were concerns about my behavior, character, or patient status. This incident was especially upsetting because my 8 year old granddaughter witnessed the interaction. She became frightened, distressed and concerned by the way I was spoken to and asked why I was being treated so rudely and aggressively. My granddaughter texted her father to informed him that Grandma was just kicked out of a dental office, my son Jorge Martinez my granddaughters father became very concern by text sent to him. Mr. Martinez called me on my cell phone in the middle of my conversation with Dr. I expressed to Dr. Lui how I didn't appreciate in the way he was handling unresolved issue based on a past incident, and the way I was being spoken to in a very disrespectful and humiliating way. I felt like I waisted my time and I couldn't believe he was refusing services to finish my teeth cleaning in the middle of treatment. Dr. Lui didn't care or display any remorse or compassion to listen or understand me to look for better way to resolve the problem or misunderstanding. Dr.Lui walked away, another staff employee had heard the conversation. I explained the truth of what had happened, but instead of trying to resolve the situation. I was told that Dr. Lui was the boss and that what he said was final. Mrs. Gretchen then asked me to please leave, escorted me out, and told me that the office no longer accepted my PPO insurance. Afterwards I checked the office website and it clearly stated that my PPO was accepted. This left a concerned that I was being treated unfairly and possibly given inaccurate information while being removed from this office.

Dr. Kint said I did not need deep cleaning and proceeded to give me a normal cleaning. Sure, some work will be expensive and it's to be expected but why do other dentists hand you a bill before work is even done? 10 out of 10 with Dr. Kint. His assistants and front desk are also wonderful people. Look no further if you need a good dentist.

Luckily my masters roommate at UCSF had just finished dental school (best in the country) so I asked her and the dentist at family first dentistry and they couldn't believe that they had told me fillings weren't standard of practice anymore. Seeing that I was in pain (those things dig into the upper palette), the doctor stepped in and used bite wings, standing directly next to the x-ray machine while he gave orders to the hygienist to operate the x-ray machine. No problem for me, but it seems weird for the doctor to expose himself to x-rays like that on a daily basis. I at least had the lead bib; the doctor had no protection and was standing right next to the x-ray. Onto the cleaning, which didn't amount to much. They didn't clean my teeth. The hygienist polished them, but did nothing about tartar. No scraping, which I'm accustomed to at all my dental visits. The doctor told me that I "didn't have plaque" which seems suspicious to me, as I hadn't seen a dentist in about 8 months at that point. I *always* have tartar that needs to be scraped off, and my understanding is that tartar is what plaque becomes. I do take care of my teeth but tartar has always been a problem for me. The hygienist seemed new to the job and the doctor was extremely dismissive of my medical condition which is why I'm on Medi-Cal. They scheduled me for a full-cost cleaning for 6 months later, which I'm about to cancel because I simply don't trust this place. Again, maybe it's because I'm on Medi-Cal. If you've got money, your experience may be different.

Cant feel that though since my mouth is numb. Had to reschedule to have that fixed. Went back in months later for a cleaning and again have a different doctor who does my care. I prefer to have the same doctor all the time, but having a different doctor each visit left me disappointed. To make matters worse, I write this a couple years after getting the fillings. The filling from the second doctor cracked and pieces broke off while eating. Went to a different dentists office who fixed the cracked filling and made mention that the other filling which wad done here was done poorly and re-filled that knew. No problems with that procedure at all.

So, I wasn't going to leave this review- I was just never going to come back…read more So I was getting Gel X done with extensions, the girl who helped me trimmed my cuticle and caused me to bleed a lot. In her panic, she put super glue on my cut to stop the bleeding, then put a washcloth back on it to stem the bleeding but ended up supergluing the washcloth to my finger. She then ripped the washcloth off my finger (which HURT) and had to spend 5min tweezing off the bits of washcloth that were not glued to my finger. She also gaslit me and said my skin was so thick, so it was my fault. Not only that- but she often applied too much glue and had to keep redoing her applications. Even after that horrific experience- I was going to let it go. I even tipped her $30 because I'm too nice and hate conflict. But we're barely 3 days in having these nails and already my thumb nail popped off in front of my friggin boss. Beware of this place. There's a reason why some people never return.

I went to Millenia Dental the other day for my dental appointment and Dr. Kim recommended some dental treatment. After Dr. Kim did my diagnosis, Jose the Treatment Coordinator explained all my insurance benefit to me and my patient portion. It really was like nobody else explained before to me. He even went the extra mile with my case just the way how he explained to me about my insurance and my payment portion of my treatment. Really it was a very nice experience and I was able to afford my dental treatment. I really recommend this place 100%. I am autistic and have always struggled with the dentist as a kid. I went a long time not going because I was so scared. Millenia Dental is right by my house so I thought I would give it a try. I recommend this dentist to everyone!! All of the staff is so nice and caring. I am very sensitive to things and they let me take my time. I love this dentist and I never thought I would say that about a dentist All of the dental hygienist of very kind and good at what they do. The dentist is very fast and always does a good job. I have been going to the office since it opened. Dr Yamil Reeves has been my dentist ever since. He is EXCEPTIONAL! Hard to find a dentist like him nowadays. Last time I came in there was a new doctor at the office. I think she has been there only a few months. I have requested to only be seen by Dr Reeves.Everyone has come and gone but I am happy Dr Reeves is still there. Wherever he is I will go. I had a dental cleaning with Gabriel on Aug 29, 2025. He was highly professional and made sure I was comfortable and at ease throughout the entire process. Great dental office!!! Very professional and efficient in all ways. Dr. Kim is outstanding. He does the work that other dentists can't do. I had a bridge done with Dr.Kim where other dentists cannot do. Jose and Rachel do great work in the front office with appointments and arrangement of payments. Where do I even begin? This place is amazing ! Rebecca and dr. Sharak have been so great to me and they care so much for us as patients. My family and i have continiued visiting Millenia Dental for a long time. If i could rate this office 10 stars i would. What really made me loyal is that everyone would answer all my questions and made me feel really comfortable! Ive always had a fear with the dentist, but all the staff made me feel safe! Had my first dental visit at this office. Let me first say, I used to have a huge dental fear, but after this visit, I don't think I'll have a problem anymore! Both Rebecca and Rachel are outstanding in their field! Rachel made me feel comfortable going over my financial information and never put me down when asking about payment plans. Best dental office I've been to! Definitely will recommend to my family and friends! Rachel welcomed me very nicely and made me feel comfortable! I had a great experience at this office from the Front office Yovanna and Rachel are Very generous and explained everything I needed to know regarding my treatment and Finances. Erica and Mayte Dr. Kim's assistants are Very nice. Dr.Kim who is Very professional and educated me on my dental work is so wonderful I had no worries after my first appointment I would highly recommend this office to friends and Family. read more

I've been going here for a few years now and have had some issues in the past. Last week was the first time I was with Rebecca. She was by far the most kind and personable hygienist that I've interacted with at millenia. Afterwards she offered to schedule my next appointment when she is working. I can not tell you how HAPPY I am with Dr. Kim and his staff. I FRWAK out at the dentist office but the staff made me feel VERY comfortable. I had to make an account just to give these ladies at Millenia dental some recognition! I have never been with a hygienist that is so thorough and explains everything as she's doing it. This place needs to hold on to Rebecca! The girl in the front, I think her name was Rachel, was just as inviting and the dentist, Dr.Sharrak, had a calm presence. Nice people, terrible dentistry…read more Originally went in for tooth pain and a cleaning, and ended up getting a terrible, 2-session cleaning and a possibly avoidable root canal. First, the cleaning. I'm nearly 50 and have been receiving dental care since I can remember, so when they stated it would take 2-sessions I was skeptical. The tech stated it would take a couple sessions because they had to numb me due to the extent of the cleaning needed. The first session they numbed one side of my mouth and then performed an extremely light cleaning, to the point I wondered why the need for numbing. The second session I requested no numbing and the same, very light cleaning was performed. This was 3-sessions, which took nearly 6 months to complete. Perhaps if they didn't bring people in 3 times for something that should only take 1 visit they wouldn't take so long to perform simple cleanings. Second, the tooth pain. I made it very clear to the tech and dentist where the pain was and what it felt like. After the x-rays, the dentist came in and said, "Not sure where the pain is coming from. There aren't any cavities, see?" and showed me the x-ray like I knew what I was looking at. I never said I had a cavity, just pain. Turns out after an excruciatingly painful weekend it was determined the tooth had cracked and become inflamed from infection. After getting the root canal at a different dentist (Endodontist) and returning to Otay Lakes Dental Care, they informed me they would put on a temporary crown and the permanent crown wouldn't be ready for another 2+ weeks. I would also have to chew on one side for 2+ weeks with the temporary crown and then another week with the permanent crown, to which I responded with some frustration that they had missed the cracked tooth and the rest. The front desk representative took immediate offense and basically showed me the door. The dentist did contact me and express concern for my experience, and explained the 2+ weeks for a crown is standard. I also own some responsibility for not pressing the issue, so I've updated my review.
