This is an incredible place. For the location and value there is nothing that beats it. And the service is outstanding. The doormen are friendly and the management team is genuinely interested in their tenants. When we first came to look at the apartments the on-staff consulting agents were incredible. We loved the place and asked to sign as soon as possible. So we were given paperwork immediately, and the communication afterwords was fantastic. DirecTv and internet came with the apartment, which is great. As well as access to a great gym and a pool with a view. Overall, I wouldn't see why anyone would be anywhere else. read more

I've lived at the MPP apartments for a litttle over a month and I am extremely happy. You absolutely cannot beat the views and the loccation for the price. Even the response to maintenance requests is phenomenal. When I first moved and I questioned a floor board and within a week and they completely replaced all of the wooden floors in my apartment. I was completely nervous to undertake this project but after it was complete the maintenance team also cleaned my room and organized it exactly how it was before all of the furniture was moved. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone! read more

I hardly ever take the time to write reviews, but it's absolutely necessary to warn people of the horrible management in this building. The ongoing construction over the last YEAR have revealed a lot of the faults with management. They gave no indication as to the degree or length of inconveniences that we would have when having us sign our lease for the year. When there are elevator outages, the most helpful warning we get is a sign saying that there will be intermittent service throughout the day, please allow 10 extra minutes to your commute. TEN MINUTES spent waiting for the elevator on almost a daily basis. but beyond the construction, because that will eventually (maybe) be finished. The package delivery system is terrible. You are often not notified of packages until 24-48 hours after they are delivered. Almost everyone I know in the building has had multiple arguments with the loading dock, showing them a record of delivery, and having MPP tell them that the package isn't there yet. There have also been multiple instances of lost packages, in which MPP claims absolutely no fault. there is absolutely no security. Absolutely nobody gets stopped by the front desk, and because of the construction there is no need to get buzzed in. Anybody can just walk in with no issues at all. As many other reviews have mentioned, the internet is terrible! management touts this as a benefit of the apartment, but does nothing to ensure quality. In the last 3 months.... The noise and excessive drinking is out of control! Too many college students and underage drinkers here. It's been so bad the swimming pool and sundeck were closed due to all the partying. Front desk was overwhelmed. Some of us work for a living and the parties every weekend are TOO much. I have been living here for almost 2 years, and haven't regretted it for even a day. There are two parts to my review. 1) Ongoing Construction They are renovating the lobby and garage. Construction has been going on for a while and will be completed in a few months' time. Is it inconvenient? A little bit, only because of reduced exits in the building and slightly longer elevator wait times - nothing that cannot be worked around easily. Management lets us know in advance about upcoming work and regularly hold "happy hours" to show their appreciation for our patience. The renovation is actually a proactive step to further improve the building. and I'd rather experience an inconvenience for a short while and reap the benefits of a MUCH nicer living area later on. I'm really excited about the new lobby - the artist renderings look great! 2) Benefits: LOVE the location! Considering that I am living in the heart of the Loop, right next to Millennium Park, the price is reasonable. They have underground valet parking, which is HUGE since I do not have to worry about scraping the ice off my car during winters or worry about finding a parking spot in the city. Everyone in the building is extremely nice, friendly, helpful & cheerful - from the security guards, to the parking attendants, to Management in the leasing office. Maintenance staff is also quick to respond to any issues that we face, 24/7. The building manager, Terry, is super-friendly and genuinely cares about the residents' happiness. Whenever I have approached her with a problem, she has gone above and beyond what I would expect of someone in her position would do to help us out. And THAT, in my opinion is what makes living here a true pleasure. :-) read more

I give this place five stars because the staff is wonderful. Very quickly after moving in, the people at the front desk recognized me and quickly began to always open the door for me (otherwise you need to key in with a card, which can be annoying)--small gesture but on a daily basis, is kind and awfully convenient. Mr. Dormell Rice is the BEST. He's at the front desk and is so sweet and makes you feel comfortable, welcomed, and safe at all times. He's also got some sass, which is just entertaining. What really prompted me to write this review, however, was Mr. Deavonn Jenkins, who is a manager within the main office. I had parked my car in the building, which at a daily rate is in line with the surrounding area but still expensive. I needed a monthly pass not just for the month but for comping my hours of parking form the same day. After procrastinating all day, I had called down right as the office was closing to buy the pass. Mr. Jenkins answered the phone and said that he was packing up to leave for the day but that he'd stay to help me. I was down in his office a few minutes later but had forgotten my checkbook, so he waited patiently as I went back upstairs. He ended up staying nearly a half hour later just to help me out. It was terribly kind and unexpected. Save me a good chunk of change too! On other occasions, I've needed a light fixed and my sink fixed and on the same day, these issues were resolved. Given how large the building is and how many residents there are, this always delightfully surprises me. read more

Living here has gotten steadily worse over the two years I've been a tenant. I expect the construction to get even worse before it gets better. Heading into the most recent and inconvenient phase of construction (during which water service was interrupted and you could wait 15 minutes for an elevator), Management took the initiative to raise my rent by $600 a year. This year, they're only asking for $360 more. Paying more rent is always irritating, but keep in mind that, if the end of the construction were approaching, they'd be increasing my rent by an amount greater than or equal to what I experienced last year (or renting to someone else for that price). Similarly, the 50% increase in the size of referral bonuses isn't Management being generous (satisfying tenants really isn't their thing). They're having trouble keeping tenants in this building, which makes sense because, you know, it is under construction. I am genuinely curious with regards to what horrors await the residents of MPP in the coming year, but I won't be sticking around to find out. read more

This place has gone downhill quickly. Management will blame the construction, but in reality the problems existed well before the construction team rolled in (and then stayed... for almost a year now with no signs of ending any time soon). I don't know what's more annoying - the maze of hallways we have to go through to get into our building, the lack of building security (8 employees positioned at various corners gossiping with themselves or reading a book is NOT security), or the lack of any sort of accountability from management. Apparently, when internet is included in your rent, it doesn't need to work. Ever. I know the price and location will sound enticing. Trust me, you get what you pay for. read more

Worst payment system ever - we're not in the 20th century, please update it. Staff in the parcel room aren't always friendly or responsible: sometimes they just aren't there. The front desk also isn't always friendly, for example, while carrying groceries they won't open the door for you, they won't recognize you and treat you like random people from the street and being very unfriendly even though you live here and that's annoying. read more

Abysmal place to live- look somewhere else. Having had the opportunity to live in a couple buildings in the near north area this takes a commanding spot number 1 as worst building I have lived in Pros: 1. Location: you are on Michigan ave near the lake so all of downtown is at your finger tips and the blue, red, and brown line and the metra are all extremely close 2. Rent: somewhat reasonable for the location 3. Semi-decent gym but no free weights Cons: 1. Staff and Management are not responsive to renter needs. Workorders take forever to get done. 2. Elevators are extremely slow 3. Internet ("included" with rent) is terribly slow 4. Walls are thin 5. General maintenance in the building is poor 6.Laundry room machines or card machine are often down 7. Location- being on Michigan Ave is also a downside as you can hear noise from the street given that the windows are not well insulated 8. Right now the building looks like war zone with ongoing construction. Residents were not notified about the full extent of the construction until after respective leases were signed. 9. Package delivery is absolutely horrible with missing packages, staff that generally dont want to work, and a pick up location that essentially means you need to budget 5- 7 min one way to get there. read more

I'm going to second Irene's feedback below and give MPP positive marks. I am also a Chicago Booth student, and I've been content with MPP during my two years here. Pros: - The rent is the cheapest you'll find in the loop (although they may have increased rent over the past two years - we got locked in for the 2013 rates). - The amenities are decent; if you want, you can go and pay a premium at Tides, Shoreham, and Columbus Plaza, and you'll get a better gym, a larger swimming pool, and private laundry. You get what you pay for. - Ultra convenient: LA Fitness is about a stone's throw away, the Metra station is right across the street, and there is some decent food within 200 meters on Michigan Avenue. - The construction is done and everything looks really nice. - The staff has generally been really friendly. Shoutout to Erin at the front desk, and Art, the maintenance guy who used to deliver my packages. Thanks for being so pleasant! - Just like Irene said, each time we've had a maintenance issue, it took less than 24 hours for someone to show up and take care of it. Cons: - Yes, the elevator waits sometimes get long when us students have class. Avoid 8am, 11:30am, and 5pm if you can. - The internet sucks sometimes if you're a gamer. If you hardwire it (don't use a router), it's a lot better, and generally serviceable for HD movies on Netflix and gaming. No, MPP probably doesn't deserve 5 stars. If I were being honest, I'd give it a B- or B for my time here. However, I thought MPP deserved more than 2 star rating, so I'm giving it a bit of a bump. My stay has been pleasant. read more

I feel like a lot of the reviews on here speak to the inconsistency of the management at MPP - all the better reviews are FILTERED, check them out too. I however, probably lucked out and got the better end of the deal. The thing you need to know about MPP is that it's an inconsistent building, so best of luck to you. I lived in Chicago for 2 years to go to grad school. I jumped the gun on my apartment search early and was #2 on the waitlist for apartments opening up in September. As a result, I got one of the most newly remodeled apartments (formerly a corporate apartment). Dark wood stained kitchen, new appliances, plenty of closet space. CONDITION OF APARTMENT - Like I mentioned before, my apartment was a bit on the newer end - The floors were warped - I was on the Beaubien side. I rarely got noise in my apartment - The heating / cooling system had a small switch problem, which I tolerated until 1.5 years when the freon ran out. I immediately got a new AC installed the next day - Compared to what you could pay in nearby buildings, it may be a little more dated compared to Aqua, Tides, Shoreham, but you can't beat the proximity to Metra, CTA, Mich Ave FRONT DESK - Some of the people who've worked at front desk are REALLY nice. Super super nice. Once, one of my friends needed something from their apartment, they've already left the city, but I was able to run into their apartment. I know that was a huge security risk, but Sam knew me and all - Some of the newer hires are more stickler to security. You know what, I don't mind, they're doing their job. SERVICE CALLS - I really like the service guys at MPP. You will get a within-24-hour fix of whatever is wrong with your apartment. Lightbulbs, toilet flush problems, you name it. Great people here. INTERNET - The internet in this apartment is NOT managed by Millennium Park Living LLC. It's managed by a separate company, and in my first year, was extremely inconsistent. You know what I noticed? Of nearly 100+ of my classmates who lived in this building, I was one of the few who had the phone number to the internet company and called the company, not the management, to complain. And once you call them, after they realize you're a person who knows how to run IPCONFIG and is plugged into the wall, they'll realize that their own signal is down, or their antenna isn't that good on my floor, and will fix it. My biggest gripe about this building was about the internet, but I also think half the onus was that residents don't complain about the internet to the company that actually fixes it, so the system takes a while to restore - The internet also slows down during peak use time when everyone decides to fire up Hulu/Netflix/Youtube. That's expected PAYING THE RENT - Oh gosh this was a piece of headache. I tried to pay via credit card, the system wouldn't take it, and I got that fun please-pay-rent-in-5-days or you're evicted notice. Afterwards I had to pay by cashier's check for the remainder of my rental lease agreement. Not the most fun thing in the world, but cashier's checks were free from Chase RENEWING THE LEASE - It was my fault that I didn't respond soon enough, and I wasn't able to renew my lease through June 30, 2012. I had to take the July 31, 2012 lease renewal instead. HOW TO STOP LEASE SHOWINGS I never had a problem with MPP asking me to show my apartment. Why? Because I simply said no from the start - they cannot show my apartment until I moved out (and I moved out earlier than my lease termination). So again, I lucked out, but I've never been asked to show my apartment. ever. PACKAGE DELIVERY - My boyfriend (who lived in a different unit) had issues getting packages delivered . Just make sure that you're having your packages addressed to you and that your name is on a lease. SUBLETTING - Subletting the apartment can be a bit of a process as officially, they need to go through MPPs leasing process as well (application and everything). If you want to make it easy on yourself, you can, just let them know that some amenities such as package receiving might not be available as that is only available to people whose names are on the lease. All in all, I was very happy with my stay here, some minor gripes aside. read more

I lived here for two years and especially regretted living here during my last year. The first year was marked by the apathy of the managers and the second year by massive amounts of inconvenience and poor treatment. I remember waking up to jackhammers in the early morning, having several entrances blocked preventing me from exiting the building, blocked off elevators with extremely long lines, and horrifyingly bad internet service that would consistently drop. I am extremely glad I moved out of the place and would suggest other people to find other living situations that are better. read more

I have lived here for the past 2 years, just happy that I'm leaving here in two months time. I picked this place for budget reasons, being the most affordable around the area, but didn't expect the living conditions to deteriorate this much. I could certainly tell that all the negative reviews below are true. The management is spending a lot of money improving the LOBBY, not where people actually live. And probably they will raise the rent next year for that. I don't know how this makes any sense. Fair to say, I have been warned about the on-going renovation, but that was supposed to be a month or two, not an entire year..now sure when this will be over eventually. And the other issue is internet. The building provides internet to its residents, which is only working 25% of the time. And even when it is working, it is too slow to even watch a short clip on YouTube without stopping..The Service floor has a study lounge, which gets packed every night as people struggle with internet. Overall, don't come here, it is not worth the money you are saving. read more

Millennium Park Plaza (MPP) has been my home for the last two years. My time at MPP has been a pleasant experience. The customer service from the property management office to the concierge front desk staff to the facilities management team has been first class. Whenever I have placed a work order to have something repaired or replaced, it is completed immediately without any follow-up on my part. The ladies in the property management office are super responsive to emails and are always accommodating when I have an ask of them. The gym, laundry, and business center are always clean and tidy. Sam at the front desk is the best. He makes it his priority to know each tenant and recognize them by their first name. He made coming into the building feel like home. Additionally, MPP is central to all parts of Chicago. There are many trains, restaurants, grocery stores and parks close to you. If you like to shop, River North is a 5 minute walk north where you can find great stores. If you are into art, you're surround by museums. If you decide to move to Chicago, specifically in the Loop, I highly recommend Millennium Park Plaza to be your next home - trust me you will not regret it. read more

I really enjoyed living at MPP, the staff was great and management was beyond responsive and accommodating. The doormen get to know you well and are all great except the one that works Tuesday mornings. I would walk my dog and he would see me walk out and I would say I forgot my fab and he wouldn't let me back in without signing paperwork. He was the only one out of all of them that I was not a fan of and didn't take the time to accommodate people. As for the property manager Terry she was a gem to deal with very easy to get things done and very pleasant to be talk too defiantely one of the best. Yes the building is old and could use some sprucing up and the laundry room is a bit of pain charging $1.25 a load and they are getting ready to raise it, but the location and price is great so I can't complain. I was very happy living there and you can't beat the views from the building (rooftop deck) and they do have some nice amenities. I will for sure miss living there and the only reason I am leaving is because I am moving out of state otherwise I would stay! read more

I am moving out in 1 week...Here I have discovered more things that don't make any sense. 1. Booking the elevator. Due to all the bad aspects I've mentioned above...everyone is moving out...so forget about booking an elevator in weekend. I tried to book it 2 months ago and still didn't get it for the time I want...so they arranged me a small elevator (acceptable but I will find out how it works)... If you are a prospective resident, please check with the elevator before you sign the lease. 2. DirectTV...another service that they provide to you without asking for your approval, which is nice if you really enjoy the limited channels everyday. But I don't need a TV so I didn't activate the account. However, I found out when I received the "Move-out Letter" that, I need to return the "receiver", which was in my unit when I moved in and I never used, BY MYSELF. HEY MPP, ADDING more inconveniences to your residents! I know you don't care us anymore. If you are considering this place, I recommend you to knock a door and talk to a current resident. I heard complaints everyday in elevators (especially when the elevators is down...and it happens pretty often). Talk to them before you make the final decision. read more

I just moved here a week ago and have gotten nothing but good services from management and the front desk! I had tonnes of questions the first day I moved in and Erin, DJ and Katie in the management/leasing office patiently answered all my questions! The front desk is also very helpful and always keep an eye out for when people are coming in; they constantly open doors for people when you have a huge load even without asking. Also the issues I noted when i moved in were promptly fixed once i reported it to the front desk. Looking forward to spending the next 2 years here!! read more

I'm creating an account on Yelp just to warn away anybody who might be thinking of living here. All the other reviewers are spot-on about the endless renovations and management's complete incompetence. They lean on their location and several hundred locked-in students to let standards plummet while steadily jacking up rent. Now, the leasing office might try to claim that the renovations are nearly over and the new lobby looks really nice. And maybe that's correct. But that still won't change the fact that they will continue to treat you like garbage. Case in point: they changed the keys to our mailboxes, and told us that we would have to collect the new keys from their office during work hours. Because obviously, I should take a day off from work to collect a key rather than them having to spend two extra minutes to think of a solution that doesn't greatly inconvenience every single tenant. Until then, they're holding my mail hostage. And this is just one of many examples of how you will get treated by the apathetic, patronizing jackasses that run this place. You'll also see management's replies to all these negative reviews is to provide a phone number to "resolve these issues". Firstly, good luck getting anyone even remotely helpful on the phone. Secondly, what does it say about a building management that sees all these reviews, all with the same themes, and still hasn't fixed any of the "issues"? In fact, when a bunch of residents sent a collective letter of complaint, management dawdled and then refused to meet in person. In short, don't get taken in by the glitzy new lobby - it can't shine up the turd that this building is. read more

I have really hated my experience living here. Although "construction" is supposedly finished, everything MPP does is a band-aid over a crumby old building that is poorly managed. Things you'd only know from living here: -The doors and walls are paper thin. People in the hallways literally sound like they're in your living room. At a quieter building, that might not be a huge issues, but with the noisy booth students all around you it's unbearable. -The management is totally incompetent. They put in a security card system that's total garbage and hardly works, split the package room across two floors so that you need to cross the building to get your packages (did I mention that your key card won't work on the group package floor because it's within the commercial elevator bank, so you need to ask the front desk to open it). -Many buttons in the elevators don't work so you literally need to slam them to get to your floor. - Most of the front desk people are ridiculously unfriendly and unprofessional. You feel like you're being actively ignored when you walk into the building. They don't seem to mind as they're typically listening to music, on the phone, or playing games while they're working. The one positive is the people in the loading dock and maintenance. They're genuinely nice and you can sometimes tell how frustrated they are with how poorly the building is managed. In regards to price, you can get a much better deal by renting from park millennium or Columbus plaza. Don't be scared by the list price, CP frequently does a month free and PM is negotiating with owners. It just takes a little more work. Hope you find this helpful before you make the same mistake I did. read more

Apartment is nice but the staff isn't orginized

This review is specifically for some help that we received today from facilities. Steve (facilities employee) came to help with sealing our windows/window edges (which had eroded over the winter and had gaps in them) and updating our screens. He spent a long time fixing each window in the living room, kitchen, and bathroom. The attention to detail was impressive, and we really appreciated his thorough work. While here, he also offered to help change our light bulbs, which is apparently covered by the building and was above and beyond our request. Overall, Steve was really helpful and worked hard to help us resolve our work order issue (and prevent additional issues from recurring). read more

This update is in response to the Owner/Management of Millennium Park Plaza (Kearby K.): Thanks for your note. I really hope you mean what you say because I just got a notice on my door that Management is showing my unit on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11am to 12pm. I understand Management is trying to fill their vacancies and showing apartments is part of the long and tedious process I just hope you stay true to your word and will only need to show my unit once or twice. If I get a third notice to show, that's not ok. On a separate but similar issue, I just spoke to a friend who is moving out at the end of June and she told me she has shown her apartment no less than 20 times since April. That's just unacceptable, MPP! Her requests to stop the showings on one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) since her family will be in town for her graduation was rejected and Management quoted the clause in the lease that pretty much allows unlimited access to show apartments in the name of filling vacancies. I understand we as leasees must show our apartments because we are bound by the clause in our contract but I really do think opening your doors for 3 months/over 20 times is BEYOND reasonable. I remember reading that very clause, but I had no IDEA how many times we'd have to open up our homes and lives to strangers in the name of filling vacancies! SHAME on you MPP! read more

By far the worst experience I have ever had with a management company. Very questionable management practices involving last minute notices in terms of water shut-off, LACK of notice for window-cleaning, and worst of all hiking up rents on leases RIGHT BEFORE a year-long construction project. The front desk folks are nice, but Terry Patrick is quite rude. She puts up a front when you're looking to lease, but as soon as you are signed up, be prepared for the lack of response in relation to referral bonuses or anything in regards to the building. Save your money and go elsewhere. Given the trend of horrible reviews except one, I wouldn't be surprised myself if the management wrote the last positive one. read more

First of all, in my book, Four stars is very high....I reserve 5 stars for perfection and nothing ever is. My family moved into Millenium Park Plaza on very short notice recently and have really enjoyed our stay. Megan S was extremely helpful and patient as we sorted out our move as we are now in between homes. The apartment is very clean and quite spacious with good storage, large bedrooms and a comfortable living/dining area. The pool and workout room are a real bonus and the location is excellent, particularly considering access to lakeshore drive, the EL lines including Blue/Brown/Pink/Red lines. Doormen are very friendly and the parking attendants have been very helpful. There are a lot of young students here but also some families and we feel like we blend in just fine. While at first we were concerned about the entrance to the parking, its really not a big deal....and its not MPP's issue, its a city issue. You zip in and out quite easily underground and we've had no problems. For all the amenities, we feel the price is very fair and we've enjoyed our stay. All staff members have really been helpful so I'm not sure what the complaints are about. If you are nice to these people, they are nothing but cordial and helpful in return. I've had no problem at all with the management office, in fact they've helped us rerrange furniture in a furnished apartment and have been quite responsive. read more

When I was looking for an office space, Kearby, the manager, was so helpful and helped me find what I needed. I've been in the building for over 6 months and am very happy. If there is ever an problem, which is rare, management is always quick to resolve the issue. People mentioned that the internet service is poor but it's been perfectly fine for me and my office. Additionally, I love the security! There's always someone on staff and during off hours, peripheral doors are locked. I definitely feel safe. I happily recommend Millennium Park Plaza. read more

You are right across from Millenium park (which my apartment happened to overlook). This made for a great view every single day, and for an easy walk around the city. The staff including the parking garage valet workers were always very friendly and helpful. Due to my busy schedule, I needed a place with a gym and the one on the top floor here served its purpose well (it's not just treadmills). Never used the pool but it was very nice along with an awesome view. The rooftop was cool for the summer months, and I actually watched the air show from it last year. The apartments themselves had all new appliances and maintenance was very quick to fix any issues. I see people complaining that the apartments are a little outdated- while they may not be as new and as fancy as some of the other buildings nearby, I don't see how someone can complain when the price is so much cheaper (over $1,000 less/month compared to 2 blocks away). The pricing was one of the most important things to me, since I was a student and could not afford a place at the trump. Well worth the money, and I would highly recommend this building! read more
