We were going to pull into a riverfront site but the ones on the end were the only ones open, and the grass was covered with so much duck poop - BAD! We chose a site across from them instead which was perfect! No duck poop there... As beautiful as it is to see all the duck's congregating there on the grass on the ridge, it truly is a disgusting mess. Still, it's a beautiful place and I'd recommend camping here.

The road to get in and out is terrible. They have painted blue/white lines on the grass to outline your site and god forbid you accidentally run over the line with your rig Jim the "owner" will come out and lose his s#*t. Laundry room/ bathroom smell terrible and could be maintained cleaner. The whole campground is crusty... the "owner" Jim is an ass.

The big knocking Folsom and Not Cal is their lack of water and most times the boat is dry docked by July 15th. The recent rain has allowed us to have access to the boat in late August and with a last minute summer vacation I returned to my roots and we went out on the boat. We were able to book our campsite only two weeks in advance while many other campgrounds in the area were already fully booked. The price was reasonable, especially considering that bathrooms and hot showers were included. We chose a campsite close to the shower building, although the campground map on the website doesn't provide much information about the surrounding areas of each site. Upon arrival, the access code had already been texted to us, making check-in quick and hassle-free. Our campsite had several trees that provided plenty of shade, and there were BBQ grills available for use, although campfires were not permitted during our stay. The campsite was also conveniently located near the lake access area for water activities. The water gets noticeably cleaner as you move into deeper areas. There is also a small convenience store located at the far end of the campground for basic supplies. The biggest drawbacks were the shower and restroom facilities. The shower stalls felt somewhat run-down, with low water pressure and water temperatures that were excessively hot. After dark, there were a lot of bugs and spiders around the facilities. The bathroom lights were not working during our stay, so we were thankful to have a powerful flashlight with us. Another challenge was the local wildlife. There were quite a few skunks roaming the campground, and they seemed very interested in digging through trash and food storage areas. We ended up storing our food and snacks inside the tent every night and whenever we left the campsite for water activities. Cell phone service was also a major issue. We have T-Mobile, and despite showing 1 bar of 5G, 2 bars of LTE, or even satellite connectivity, data service was essentially unusable. Apps like Facebook, Instagram, and even basic web pages would often fail to load. If you need reliable connectivity for work or communication, be prepared for limited service. Overall, it was a positive experience. It's a campground, not a luxury resort, and it provided the essentials we needed for a comfortable stay. Having running water, hot showers, lake access, and decent campsite amenities made it a worthwhile trip. We would consider staying here again. Pros: Easy booking, reasonable price, shade trees, lake access, convenience store, and included showers and bathrooms. Cons: Run-down showers, poor lighting in restrooms, bugs and spiders at night, persistent skunks around campsites, and very limited cell service.

The lady who manages the Marina store is so sweet and I dunno if it's the office manager or boat rental manager but she also helps with managing the cabin rentals and was very kind and refunded us a portion of our last day. Have now done this hike/loop a few times now and it's definitely worth the drive and parking…read morefiasco. The trail is about 4 miles long and takes just a couple hours to do at a slow/medium pace. The trail is pretty wide, there were people with their dogs, a few little kids, and lots of groups enjoying the beautiful day. The majority of the trail is shady and covered by beautiful trees, some spots are under the direct sun so bring a hat or sunnies. You'll see tons of butterflies, wild flowers, birds, and of course will see the spillway. Parking is $10 cash paid to the park. This most recent time that I came it was very difficult to find parking, so if you plan to come on a weekend plan ahead and come early. I would also recommend bringing bus spray and being cautious of the poison ivy along the sides of the trail. Overall it's a beautiful hike and I'd recommend it!
