On the way home the insulation rubbed off of one of the wires for the Dometic water heater and caused it to work sporadically. I spliced the wire and the water heater unit worked for about two weeks. I called the dealer and they said they could not find anyone in our area to come out and fix it. I googled repair services and Teds Mobile RV repair came up. I sent a link to his service to the dealer. I spoke with Ted over the phone a few minutes later after the dealer contacted him. He said he was booked most of the day but had a little time between calls to come out. He was at our property within an hour and done in two hours. Ted had to replace the circuit board, igniter, and a couple of relays. He also handled the warranty billing through the dealer. I was off property during this service call. Ted also called me when he was done to explain what he did. These days it is sometimes difficult to find people that are good at what they do and do what they say. Danny was called to inspect and repair a water leak in her vehicle. He initially quoted $360 via text message--no formal documentation, invoice, or written estimate was ever provided. A few days later, Danny claimed additional parts were needed but failed to specify what those parts were or how much they would cost. Despite multiple requests for a breakdown of charges and parts, no information was given. Then, without warning or authorization for any additional work, Danny texted that the vehicle was "all fixed" and demanded $740--more than double the original quote. At no point was a revised estimate presented, nor was consent given for extra repairs. This lack of transparency and disregard for proper documentation is especially concerning given that the customer is an elderly woman. It's clear she was taken advantage of during this process. Danny's reply was, I can come back and remove all the parts and give your money back, what's an 83-year lady supposed to do? Consumers--especially seniors--deserve honesty, clarity, and respect. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. If you have a like story, please post it to avoid this happening to someone else.
