Millie's in the perfect location right next to market square. I walked in and was able to sample two flavors which was super helpful because they have so many good flavors to choose from! I ended up getting half and half of the vanilla coconut (I believe this one was dairy free) and then also backyard s'mores. I added caramel and hot fudge. The store is very clean and cute and is an instant mood boost with the bright colors. The staff member was extremely kind and helpful. I will definitely be back! read more

It was my first night in Pittsburgh, so I thought it would be worthwhile to explore the downtown area. There was hardly a soul on the streets. Oh, did I mention it was 28 degrees and that the wind was whipping me around like I was Auntie Em's house in "The Wizard of Oz"? Instead of searching for hot cocoa, I came here mostly because it was one of the few businesses that looked open, and who doesn't like ice cream in below freezing weather? The place was busy, though I figured out it was one large group of entitled people who insisted on ordering together to get everything on one bill. They were indifferent to my withering patience at their insistence in sampling flavors. Finally my turn, and to the server's credit, she apologized even though it wasn't her fault. There was quite a selection of flavors that required a speed reading course as they were on individual placards on the display case window. I went for the $8 Classic in a cup because it came with two flavors (Photo 9). One was a hit, the other a miss. The hit was Coffee Dream, a no-brainer that combined coffee beans with sweet cream. The miss was Cannoli where I should've gotten a clue from the description "cannoli-inspired". It was an unwieldy mix of pistachios, waffle cone bits, and chocolate chips. The texture was strangely grainy. I ended up throwing that scoop out. Sorry Millie. Always gotta stop by here for ice cream when I'm staying in downtown Pittsburgh. Usually I get the pistachio, but they had root beer float so I decided to try that along with cookies and cream. The root beer float was amazing!!! The cookies and cream was different from any I've had before. I don't know quite how to describe it but it was deliciously addicting. Really wish I'd had time go there again before leaving town, but there's always next time! read more

This is the Millie's location I visit the most. Each time I stop in, the staff are always kind and helpful. It's a small location, but there are some tables and there is a freezer which houses their available pints. As far as the ice cream: I haven't tried a flavor I didn't like. They also have different topping options such as waffle cone pieces, sprinkles, and marshmallows. read more

My family and I stopped in here when we were in Pittsburgh for some late night ice cream. The lines were out the door so I knew it had to be good. We go in there and it's a small little shop and we got the counter. the lady that gave me my ice cream was nice, and the ice cream that we all had was really delicious, so I definitely recommend it. read more

On our vacation in Pittsburgh we went to Millie's homemade ice cream and it was one of the most enjoyable ice cream cones I had. I chose the tea berry flavour. I did not know what it was but I chose it anyways. It tasted like root beer and had a purple-ish colour. The texture was nice and it was not too sweet. Every time I looked up things I NEEDED to try in Pittsburgh, this place popped up. Who am I to deny Google the satisfaction. I walked in on Easter Sunday with my mom to check out what this was all about. My mom got what she always got: coffee on a sugar coffee. I decided to be festive with the pistachio and carrot cake. Both of my flavors were fantastically balanced and incredibly creamy. There nice, big chunks of nuts and cake, respectively, in the scoops, and I just can't get over how friendly anyone is here! Are we just jerks in California? I certainly don't mean to be. My only complaint is that I wish the ice cream was a bit more firm. I like to bite into my ice cream. That small fault was made up for in the adorable decor. Fun, bubble, clean, and PINK! Gotta love it! Would definitely come back to try other flavors. read more

I am visiting Pittsburgh. The ice cream was creamy, flavorful, and the variety was simple but can satisfy anyone's ice cream cravings! I ordered the best chocolate and honey cake. The honey taste was mild but sweet and it tasted closer to vanilla. The service was clean (they put gloves on when passing out samples) and efficient. There's even a little water station when you are done. Must try, especially since there aren't many places to go for dessert in this area!!! read more

Delicious chunks of pistachio and the flavor doesn't have that artificial tang that pistachio ice creams sometimes carry. We booked Millie's Food Truck for our late night treat for our wedding on October 18th, 2025 at Bella Sera in Canonsburg, PA. Aimee was incredible to work with, she was a great communicator prior the event. At our event she was incredibly personable and professional with our guests. The milkshakes were a perfect way to end our night and were delicious to enjoy. Milkshakes were incredibly important to us as our first date was to get milkshakes. While walking around the streets of Pittsburgh, we came across this small but cute ice cream shop. Millie's had a variety of flavors with gluten free options. When it comes to ice cream, I love flavors that have toppings in them, and Millie's had flavors with a variety of toppings and chunks in them! I got the single of the backyard s'mores and cannoli flavors. The s'mores had chunks of chocolate and bits of graham crackers. Of the two flavors I tried, it was my favorite. It was creamy but not overwhelmingly sweet. The cannoli flavor had chocolate chunks, too, along with pistachio pieces and cannoli pieces, but it was not as creamy as the smore's flavor. The single size was perfect sizing for me and left me satisfied. I got my ice cream on a cone. They had three options for the cones: waffle cone, sugar cone, and gluten free cake. Overall, Millie's has a lot of great flavors, and I would definitely come back! read more

I'm honestly really surprised by our experience given the great reviews! We ordered 4 different flavors between the two of us and every single one was chalky. Some of the flavors disappointed as well - the pistachio tasted strongly of extract and the pretzels in the strawberry pretzel were soggy. The chalkiness was the primary issue though - we actually ended up throwing our ice cream away after a few bites which we've never done before. It's a shame, because the shop is really cute with friendly staff and I like their flavor ideas! I just don't understand why it's so chalky? Maybe it was a bad set of batches, because I know a lot of people do really like their ice cream? read more

I love how Millie's always has suck a great variety of flavors that's always changing, and that they always have a few dairy-free options available. This was my first visit to Millie's, and I went solely for the dairy free options! Upon entrance is smelled WONDERFUL!! We were kindly greeted by the woman working, and she waited patiently while we asked questions and decided on a flavor. I ended up choosing a single scoop of the dairy free dark chocolate on a waffle cone because who doesn't love a homemade waffle cone?! Of course, the dairy free ice cream wasn't as creamy as typical ice cream, but it was rich and flavorful. The cone wasn't overly sweet, which I really enjoyed - they even stuffed little marshmallows in the bottom of the cone to keep it form leaking! The only complaint I have were the prices. It was almost $13 for two single scoops, which honestly aren't very large. It's a little out of my price range for ice cream. read more

Millie's is a great place for ice cream after a nice dinner! I ordered a single scoop of honey baklava because it seemed rather unique and I'm so glad I did. It tasted exactly like baklava which is one of my fave desserts. I also really liked it because it wasn't too overly sweet. The inside of the shop is cute but rather small. I had a wait outside for other customers to come out before I can enter. I would definitely come back to try other flavors when I visit Pittsburgh. read more

I was having a real "Pittsburgh Proud" moment at this ice cream spot. My first thought after visiting was that I should have come here sooner, and my second thought was already deciding what I want to order next time. I am already planning to order the peanut butter soft serve with warm fudge and a warm cookie after being inspired by their chocolate chip cookie sundae advertisement and will need to ask about what the strawberry shortcake situation is all about as well. For years, I watched the long lines outside and wondered what all the hype was about. Sometimes you don't get it until you "get it" - and now I get it. Fortunately for us, there was barely any line when we arrived even though it was a hot summer day. Even better, it's only about a one-hour walk from my house. The service was also fast and friendly and the employee who helped us was pleasant the whole time which added to the overall experience. I was especially impressed by the peanut butter soft serve. The flavor was rich and pronounced without compromising the smooth, creamy texture of the soft serve. It was everything I would want peanut butter soft serve ice cream to be. I was also surprised by how many soft-serve flavors they offer. Most places have only a few options, but there was plenty to choose from here. That said, it's hard for me to order anything other than the peanut butter soft serve now that I know how much I love it. One thing to know is that they do not offer free samples because the flavors are made to order. Something else to know is that the small sized cone held noticeably more ice cream than the small cup despite being the same price - so if you can I suggest the cone over the cup if you want more ice cream for the same price. I originally chose the cup because my hands weren't clean, but I later realized the cones come with a plastic protector around them anyway. All in all, this is one of those places that lives up to its reputation, and I highly recommend coming here if you are an ice cream aficionado.
