Millie's is a Nantucket gem that is worth the drive no matter where you are on the island. This Tex-Mex restaurant is not what you expect to find in Nantucket, but you will keep coming back each visit. It isn't much to look at, a large old house converted into a restaurant, that lacks atmosphere. There are also 4-6 picnic tables outside. Great if you are covered in sand from the beach, or you want to let the kids run around (you can have your dog with you outside). The menu is nothing fancy and presentation is simple, but good food none the less. While sipping beverages from a mason jar start with chips and guac, it has a good fresh flavor. They have a good menu selection filled with favorites many with a Nantucket/seafood twist. read more

Went here on Father's Day with my old man. Had the Millie's Bridge Po' Boy for lunch. Excellent whole belly clams with a very good coleslaw. The rice salad was a bit cilantro-y for my liking. I'm a native of Nantucket, but now I live in Austin. Unfortunately, every time I get back I get shocked at how expensive it is on the island! So, the food at Millie's was fine (though Mexican food in Texas certainly sets my expectations higher for me) but it was just so expensive for what we were getting ($16 for a vegetable quesadilla, $18 for fish tacos)...it was nice to have a place to stop in Madaket, but I couldn't afford to stop very often. read more

Millie's is a great casual option on Nantucket. The tacos (strongly recommend the Tuckernuck) and drinks are great and the staff is friendly. Also, the restaurant has a great location near the ocean on the western side of the island in Madaket. It's an excellent spot for catching sunsets. If there is a negative it's that a lot of people share my favorable opinion of Millie's so it is usually pretty busy. Finding a parking spot can get a little bit tricky, but I've been there many times and it's never taken more than a few minutes to find a spot so don't let that stop you. read more

Avoid!!! I don't even know where to begin with my experience at Millie's so I'll just start from the minute we arrived. This was a Wednesday evening, not a Friday or Saturday. I tried to put my name in at the hostess outside but she cut me off to say "you'll have better luck upstairs". So we proceeded upstairs and as we were waiting at the host stand to put our names in, a waitress slammed into my husband spilling red wine all over his back (fortunately he was wearing dark clothes) but it also splashed on my white jeans. She did say a quick sorry, but that was it. We put our names in, and after seeing people who came in and out their names in long after us get seated, we talked to the hostess (who was very nice- the only reason I'm not giving this place 1 star - and she apologized and seated us. We had no forks, spoons, or napkins, just knives where we were seated, so I asked the waiter if he could bring some and said, "I think so". The food was sub-par at best, and the guacamole was browning and hard to eat. It was also so dark half the people there had their phones out to see the menu. They also charged us for a beer that they never gave us. Overall, one of the worst restaurant experienced I've had in a very long time. Just do yourself a favor and don't go there. read more

This place is as good as it gets in Madaket. Met some friends there early evening to watch the sun set. The upstairs bar is where you want to be. We talked about old times over Corona beer and chips & salsa. The place gets really crowded so get there early. I have eaten here a few times, the lobster roll is really good. read more

A great place for families as their tacos and quesadillas range from chicken and steak to shrimp and tuna. Need to arrive early as reservations are not accepted. Be there before 5:30pm in June, 5:00pm in July, and 4:30pm in August. Worth the wait. Signature drink is the Madaket Mystery (rum runner/goombay smash). Millie's Market next door is great for ice cream or snacks to take down onto the beach for sunset. read more

I am so glad we took the shuttle out to Millie's. The clam chowder is different than every other location on the island. It's good! One of the shuttle drivers recommended the quesadillas. LOVE THIS PLACE! I look forward to coming here every summer when I'm on island with family! The food is so fresh and local and the portions are just right. Salsa is fresh and complementary and helps to start of the night with a delicious margarita. I always send up with one of their quesadillas since its like two meals on one! The Starbuck Road, Steps Beach and Brant Point are my favorites, but you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Good Bar, Good Bar food. Don't expect an Exegent meal. It is WAY out there on the island. But, the bar on the second floor is fun, but usually crowded. The food is good, but it is sandwiches and bar food- wings, hamburgers, sliders, etc. Still, it is a happening place, and has outdoor seating. Great place for lunch or an early meal. It is a renovated house, with the outdoor seating in front or on the porch. Their desert shop, Millies Market, is right next door for ice cream and cakes. Hint to my followers: The beach is 100 yards past the restaurant, so come early and make a day of it. Lifeguards are on the beach, along with the seals in the water. Take the first parking spot you see that is empty. This place gets CROWDED!! Make a reservation!! read more

the good: casual spot. awesome view (sit upstairs) - warm summer breeze blowing through the very airy dining room. fish tacos - YUM. had the scallop tacos and the shrimp tacos, both were very tasty. very reasonably priced. there's a free shuttle that will bring you from town all the way to the restaurant (about 15 min ride) and back. it's a very short walk to the beach, the waves were ferocious the day we were there. breathtaking. plan your night there so you can watch the sunset. the bad: the location is not convenient but the shuttle helps. the service was so-so. waitress forgot a few minor things. I could not have been more disappointed with anywhere I ate on island than Millie's. The experience was absolutely terrible across the board. I'm not sure if it was the surly hostesses and waiters or perhaps the overeager busboys standing on the porch looking bored, but nobody did anything to make us feel very welcome. Ordering a drink at the bar during our 45 minute wait for a table was unpleasant, as the wait staff directed us to move several times without offering to take our drink order because we were standing too close to the service corridor. When we finally got to sit and eat, they appeared to forget we were even there. After being seated we weren't able to order for about 40 minutes because the waiters claimed to be busy, and while I tried to order another drink during the wait this too proved a task too difficult for the wait staff. After literally 2 hours of this poor service, I was not even served my starter nor were several of my friends served their entrees. For the amount we paid and the time we were forced to wait, I am appalled at the awful service and lack of professionalism. This was honestly the worst dining experience I've had on Nantucket and I will not be returning. read more

We absolutely, totally, love Millie's. Just opened for the season and we've already been three times. Tacos. Po'boys. Our favorites - the steak taco (Tuckernuck) and the scallop quesadilla. Great salsa. Fresh summer rice. Road bikes to madaket last weekend and ate lunch here on way home - what a surprise! This place was fantastic...360 views are unbelievable from the second floor, completely beach casual but good is top notch. Literally the best guacamole we've ever had, very innovative and delicious taco ingredients, kids meals were excellent, very good portions, and can't say enough about the location. I've been in this area for many years, and when the Westender closed down I was very disappointed. The food here is definitely lacking and I do not recommend coming here at all, especially when you compare its quality to all of the other amazing restaurants on the island. The only thing that's good here are the tortilla chips and the sandwiches in the take-out window, which they only serve from 12-3pm. The service is also good and the people who work here are very nice. But is way too overpriced for the quality of the food, even for Nantucket prices. I got a chicken quesadilla and it was full of rubbery meat and gristles, while my sister got the blackened mahi mahi. While she did like it, she ended up having a very upset stomach the next day or two. If you want to see the sunset over the water while having dinner, I recommend packing your own food and heading down to the beach with a bottle of wine and a towel. The sound of the waves is incomparable to the sounds of screaming children in Millie's, and the view is much better. read more
