I was shopping for a self proclaimed maximalist who loves vintage everything, and Farm Antiques was a unique stop. Beverly, the amazing 92 year old who runs the shop, is a treasure and a sweetheart. She knows her merchandise inside and out and is a wonderful storyteller. The shop is attached to her farm, that she brought her kids up on and still resides in and she has some remarkable frames and vintage artwork, plus some unique finds and local artwork and embroidery, that make it worth a browse. I was looking for a nightstand and found one I loved, along with a farm bench I was not currently shopping for, by the same vendor. Though both were very reasonably priced, it was a little more than I had planned to spend this day. I asked the owner if she would see if the vendor might consider a bundle discount. She was very sweet and quick to consider and follow through with my request. The vendor also quickly offered a discount for which I was extremely grateful. During this chat I had measured and was sad to figure out the bench would be too big. I happily took the nightstand and meanwhile the owner followed up with the vendor and me to hook me up with a brand new bench the vendor had been working on that was exactly the size I needed. The owner stayed in prompt and consistent touch with me, and I now have a bench that I adore, perfect size, and the store and vendor still honored the initial discussed discount without my asking again. She walked away and helped a different customer out to their car. She came back in, no greeting, and said "Well? Did you fill out the paper?" I said no, you didn't give me one to fill out. Weird. She text me the next day saying she wasn't going to take anything I brought because she wasn't ready for summer? I had plenty of pants and shirts and shoes that were not summer items. I had to go back and pick it up again. Such a waste of time. It was an unpleasant experience from beginning to end. Won't be back.
