The 1 shoe heel that I had him "repair" came off the first time I decided to wear the shoe. I'm at work walking in the hall way next to him hung I know I have a little limp. I take the shoe back to let him know, he tells me I'm mistaken and it's the other shoe that I had him fix and he only charged me $10, which is a lie. He actually charged me $20 cash. Since he said I can pick the shoe up in a hour. My whole thing is honor your work. You know did a crappy job fix your mistake. But what I'm not going to do is argue with someone that obviously doesn't care about the customers. I will not come here ever again and I hope others please read the reviews before taking anything serious o this crook!! read more

Well... my Ecco dress shoes were falling apart due to age. I brought one pair to him and he persuaded me to replace the soles which really didn't need replacing yet, but they were close. On these cheaply made (but expensive) shoes there is a plastic strip all along the top outside of the shoe. It's made to look like stitching. Anyway, this was coming off. I liked the initial job enough to bring a second pair of shoes to Mill's a week later. Well, 1 month later both pair of shoes fell apart again. I went back with a pair and he accepted no responsibility. I asked him to just glue them back together and he sold me a tube of Barge glue. Sigh. At home, I discovered that he didn't put enough glue on the shoe. There was only a thin line of glue on the shoe parts. Definitely not enough to keep the shoe together. Presumably he didn't want any of the glue to show on the outside, but really all you have to do is use a microfiber cloth to wipe away any excess. There's really no excuse not to do a quality job. Unfortunately, cash only. Mill's does not accept credit cards. I gave 1 extra star because the new soles have not fallen off yet. That said, I recommend you find a different place to repair your shoes. read more

While walking around going about my day, I noticed the heel on my tabis was making a weird noise. I check them only to see that the heel taps have fallen off. My usual cobbler is in OC but since I was in LBC my dad suggested this place. I explained to Mr. Kim what happened and he assured me the original heel taps could be put back in place. It took him less than five minutes to fix them and even painted one of the heels to blend in the wear while only charging $16 for both. Having to leave even one star here is a lie. I honestly think the elder "gentleman" (I use the term loosely) running the place should consider retirement very soon! Seriously sub par (almost comical) "work" on my beloved Uggs. I should have known when he literally YELLED at me and acted offended when I asked if the boots could be cleaned as well as repaired, that it wasn't going to turn out so good. I was pleasantly surprised when I popped into Mills Shoe Repair last week. I had been looking for a place close to DTLB. This place is just west of the 710 off of Willow. Seventy year old Mr. Kwang Nyon Kim has been operating the shop for about 40 years, according to the 2021 Long Beach Post article framed in his shop. His wife who used to work with him, passed away a few years ago. He was busy when I came in but he responded when I rang the bell. I had read on Yelp that it is a cash only business; so come with cash! Within 5-6 minutes he replaced my heels on my favorite and very old black pumps. $13! The shoe repair business is challenged by the abundance of inexpensive shoes that folks don't want to repair plus the wearing of more comfortable athletic type shoes. But if you're like me and have a few favorite shoes and boots that you want to keep fo'ever, check this place out. Parking available on the street. read more

This honestly the worst cobbler ever. I DO NOT recommend this place. I took pictures of the reason. So I brought my shoes to KIM the older man who I assume worked in my shoes. I brought them in to wear them for my first EDC, however when I went to go wear them they were damaged so I wasn't able to wear them. I took them back to the original shop (this shop) n asked them if they could fix it since they didn't the first time and he tried to charge me again. So I love shoes, but I am hard on them. I need a place where I can take my shoes and make them look as good as new. I also like that service to be cheap. I have seen this place many times flying down Santa Fe as I was on my way to one destination or another, but on Tuesday, I finally decided to stop in. I have a pair of shoes that I bought at the best thrift store in Retro Row,. They are fab, and cream colored and missing the little tabs on the bottom of the heels. Well, I should say that they WERE missing the tabs on the bottom of the heels. I took my shoes in, put them on the counter. The guy looked at them and asked me when I wanted them back, Tomorrow? Hell yes! Price? $7! (It's actually more than I paid for the shoes), but well worth it.. I got lazy and picked up my shoes on Thursday and there they were, sitting on the rack behind the counter waiting for me like my little one does at Preschool, but only not asking me for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich cut into 4 pieces. $7 bucks very well spent. read more

I brought my Cole-Haan loafers in for soles and heels. They were really beat-- holes in one sole, heels worn down into the leather stack. I was quoted a price of $48 for soles and heels, repair work, and a shine. Seemed a bit high but, I'd rather give it to a little local business than throw down $200 at Nordstrom for new ones. Beside, I can bike to his store via the River trail- its cool. Got EXCELLENT repair- a complete restoration job- they look just like new shoes, only all comfy and broken in. I checked on YELP for a shoe repair in Long Beach. The reviews for this shoe repair were good. So, I asked them to replace the soles on my $200 boots. Within 3 months the soles were coming off! DSW suggested another shoe repair. When they saw what Mills had done, the second shoe repair easily ripped off the Mills soles. It was explained to me that Mills had used a CHEAP sole which should never have been placed on my boots. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. SKIP MILLS AND ASK A FRIEND FOR A REFERRAL. read more

This place is a rip off!!!! I brought in a few of my good quality leather bags and a couple of pairs of shoes based on some other yelp reviews. I asked him to clean and dye the leather bags. When I picked them up they looked exactly the same almost as if no work had been done on them. The cleaning was pitiful and you could still see all the scratches and discoloration. I explained to him all the things that were wrong and that I was dissatisfied because he did not provide the services I asked for. To add insult to injury I had a balance of $82.00 to pay. I had 4 20 dollar bills and gave them to him. He offered no discount for my dissatisfaction and demanded the remaining $2. I asked him two or three times, are you really going to ask me for the two dollars? He then relented. I lost hard-earned money. Hopefully this post will help you save yours. Go somewhere else.
