I recently bought a brand-new pair of UGGs, and right around Thanksgiving I accidentally got turkey on them. I tried cleaning them myself with Dawn soap big mistake. I ended up making the stain worse and thought the shoes were ruined. I was honestly pretty upset and wasn't sure what to do, so I checked Yelp and found Shoe Wiz. When I walked in, I was greeted by a gentleman named Sam. He was friendly, straightforward, and told me it would cost $35 to restore the shoes. He explained that he would repaint them and add a protective seal so they'd be more resistant to damage in the future. That sounded fair, so I left them with him. A week later, I went back to pick them up and I was genuinely impressed they looked completely brand new. I couldn't even tell where the repairs had been done. In fact, I was so impressed that I literally took off the older pair of UGGs I was wearing (they're about 3-4 years old) and asked if he could restore those too. He did, and they came out looking amazing as well. I've already told him I'll be bringing in my gray pair next, which are 5-6 years old, because at this point I fully trust his work. Sam is patient, kind, and clearly passionate about what he does. He even gave my daughter a lollipop and offered me some chocolate while we talked. These guys did great work - I asked them to take a pair of rubber souled dress shoes and turn them into thick, leather souled shoes so i can use them for dancing on certain dance floors where I need to look formal but the suede dance shoes are too slippery for the amount of traction I need. As of late 2025 that was a $65 operation, but still worth it if inflation kicks that price up a bit in the near future. read more

If you need someone to save your leather shoes, Sam is your man. Had to break out my Cole Hann black wingtips for a wedding. It had been a few years since they had seen the light of day--literally. I had been going to Shoe Wiz for years. I used to go when they were at the Cerritos Mall and I've been going to the new location. I requested some stitching on my boots and new show laces. A #ThankYouThursday2021 this week goes to Shoe Wiz! I wish I took a before and after of the sandal zipper i had repaired, but I am happy to have salvaged a pair of shoes that I really liked. The owner is great at his craft and the turnaround time wasn't bad. 3-5 days depending on what you need. My shoes were done in about 3 days I believe but I wasn't able to pick them until later. The shop sits in a strip mall with Dairy Queen, Thai bbq, the lemon massage spa I think across big 5 sporting goods. Shoe Wiz is near the corner across DQ. Pricing is also fair. I have been coming to Sam since the mid 90's when his shop was in Los Cerritos Mall. He knows this craft better than an Italian cobbler. He is completely honest and tells me what can clients what can be done, what will likely not look like what you expect, and what can't be done. Today's visit was to have a pair of favorite Frye's suede shoes get their annual cleaning I have neglected since pre pandemic. He pointed out the shoes cost $300 new but the sole plate is cracked and this time the repair and conditioning is no longer worth it. He also gave me some chocolate since I was a first time customer. Process took about 15 days BUT he did inform me ahead of time so there was no surprise. I am new to the area and was looking for a show repair service. I went to a couple of locations near Shoe Wiz. In fact, Shoe Wiz was my last location I went to, to determine where I was going to have my shoes resoled, cleaned, and shined. My shoes are expensive so I was looking at products, reading reviews, and wanted to see first-hand the shops. Sam was working on an expensive, high-end purse when I walked in. He greeted me with a hello. I mentioned to him that I was looking at having some work done on some shoes and I was looking at a couple of locations. He set the purse aside and took the time to address all of my questions. It went so well, that I went to the car and retrieved 5 pairs of dress shoes. He walked through he shoe, asked me what I thought may be needed and they he walked me through each shoe too. The prices, like cleaning $20-$25 dollars, or the heel $40-$45, or the sole guard $45-$50 for men's dress shoes was very competitive. Also, I asked him about long-term care to keep the leather soft, so that the shoes would last awhile. My favorite 3-year-old boot got an amazing makeover, and I'm sure they'll last another 3 years.

One of my Coach handbags needed a repair due to a small section on the strap "frayed", went to Coach store and their charge to fix was $200 (half the price of the handbag). Sam fixed it for $18 and you can barely see the fix!!! I also took my wedding shoes from 14 years ago and had heels "shortened" , now I can wear them again Comfortably!!!!! tldr; this place is a godsend and literally saved my vintage bags life. I love them so much and highly recommend this place to anyone who needs shoe/leather repairs. -- Ok story time... I identify as a material girl but I have no $$$ for this lifestyle so I decided to look into vintage bags and splurged on the cutest lil preloved Gucci Jackie online. When it arrived it was fine, but obviously given the age of the bag and wear and tear that I put it through myself through daily use, the leather strap was starting to tear nearly in half and honestly was one bad swing away from breaking in half. I regret not taking before and after pictures because the experts here definitely know some secret magic or witchcraft. They patched up my bag and it looks almost new (you can tell where the new leather ends but that's a given since it was only partially patched). I struggle to even find the areas of original breakage because the repair was just THAT good. It took about 10 days but that includes the entire Thanksgiving week since I dropped it off right before. Considering how amazing of a job they did, I would have been fine even waiting several weeks because this truly is an art and I admire the craftsmanship. Also, the guys here are the absolute sweetest. They even offered me a piece of chocolate from their nice gift box. 100/10 would visit again and the best part is now I can freely ship vintage bags without fear as long as this shop is up and running because they'll save the day!! read more
