If golf is your life, you might be looking forward to the post-round meal here. And even if you don't dream, eat, think or have that perfect golf swing like us, you could still enjoy the comforts and meal Millstream Tavern in Woodstock has to offer- because it isn't just for the 'must play' folks. Except, double-check in advance because there was one Saturday in July where Millstream T. was closed off for an event. We all know we can't judge a book by it cover. Millstream T. fits that ticket. The outside front patio is done with large cross-hatch bluestones and some outside seating(?). A variety of plants and shrubs are used to almost soften the area and distract from the parking lot. But the inside is where the magic is because it opens to a well-thought bar area with none of it being cheesy. Followed by an intimate area to the back left and another dining area towards the back right with an airy feel facing the creek. But if you want even more 'oomph', go one step further to enjoy your meal and live music on the deck. The hostess was super sweet, attentive and watered our glasses. Starters include oysters, salad, grilled veggies, etc before the focus turns to the heavenly sounding mains comprised of Salmon, Cod, pork chop, etc. Cocktails were done creatively and with strength. Our asparagus starter was grilled perfectly and the romesco's heat was an eye-opener to put it mildly. Not horrible. Just unexpected. Our Little Gem Caesar was excellent and wanted to eat a whole crate of it. Hubs salivated over their peach+maple glaze pork chop with broccolini. My cod was done PERFECTLY and boy was it juicy. The Moroccan Chickpea stew+dukkah spices was an interesting addition and I ate some- but I picked up on a considerable amount of cinnamon(or another spice?) that took over the dish. Oh, and leave room for dessert. They're small touches- but they'll seal the deal. My pot de crème was chocolatey and topped with a refreshing strawberry+rhubarb compote. Hubs liked his unconventional Key Lime Pie and wished for another. Service from Debbie was also friendly and gave us the heads up on Music nights, Happy Hr schedule, 'Music Brunch', etc. We enjoyed everything Millstream offers- but I personally appreciate the fresh local ingredients and produce used from many of the farms in the area. This isn't a one-and-done for us. The meals are tasty and the energy is casual- but fun. Talk about a finale. read more

Booked this for my family of 6 for Easter brunch buffet yesterday and honestly a big disappointment. While a beautiful setting and well appointed, the buffet was surprisingly meager, especially considering the cost. We could only see 3 or 4 other tables seated, but when we ordered a glass of Prosecco it took 15 mins to arrive. There was then an added 20% gratuity on the bill, for a buffet!!!! This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience I've ever had. I came to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday, and we waited over an hour and 45 minutes for our food, all while watching multiple tables receive their orders much faster. We called ahead to let the restaurant know we were coming and that it was a special occasion. It felt like they took that as a challenge to provide lackluster service and very little hospitality. The vibe was atrocious--no music, flickering lights, and a general sense of neglect. To make matters worse, I had to send my soup back because it tasted overwhelmingly of salt. The food overall was mediocre at best. I ordered the tagliatelle, which was just bland cream and grainy cheese. After such a long wait, we regretted not just staying home and cooking. Visited this past Wednesday night, and left rather disappointed. While the venue itself is super cute, the food was lacking. We ordered the chicken ceasar salad, and the beet burrata salad. The grilled chicken on the salad tasted very, very cold and as if it came out of a bagged chicken you get in the grocery store. The beets were undercooked and very hard. The dressing on both of these salads was Decent however. Also my wife said her martini was was solid. Don't think I'd come back - also need to be clear that the happy hour only applies to the bar. We came for the HH specials with our kid, but because we were sitting a table they did not apply. read more

Took my partner here for her birthday. I will say the service staff was kinda and accommodating -- so I don't want this review to reflect poorly on them. That said, this place markets itself as relatively upscale due to the location, but the quality is not at all in keeping with that. Place was poorly lit, windows were dirty which obstructed the view of the stream. Food was bland, dry and tasteless. I hardly ever leave reviews on Yelp, but avoid this place if you're looking for a date night. Not worth it. read more

Very good! We got the salmon and a pasta. So, so good. The new chef is awesome. Outdoor seating and indoor atmosphere is great too.

We had friends up for a visit so we went to dinner last weekend. We sat outside which was delightful. We had a great meal under the stars listening to the stream. Had high hopes for this restaurant but really disappointed. No kids menu which is fine if you don't want to cater to families so we ordered my son the $27 tiny plate of salmon. The buratta didn't come with bread - extra $7 for 3 pieces. Chicken didn't come with any sides. Food was ok but not worth the prices the mussels were not that good. What a gem by the creek on the Woodstock Golf course in Woodstock. Lovely setting and terrific food. Four of us enjoyed our meals- pork chop was delicious and moist. The vegan pasta dish was very good and the gem salad topped with grilled salmon was excellent. I asked for the salmon to be prepared medium rare and that it how it was served. The fourth person enjoyed the gem salad topped with grilled chicken. we also enjoyed their specialty cocktails. The portions were large and the prices reasonable. Phenomenal in all ways! The food is superb, creative in the best ways. My friend I shared a creamy, freshly made Burrata . I had a risotto with garden fresh vegetables, she had wild salmon on a bed of wild rice. The flourless dark chocolate cake was sumptuous. The wait staff were perfect, always helpful and delightful. First; the food was delicious. We were there for the NYE celebration and ordered the prix fixe menu. Each course had two options and my wife and I each chose differently so we could share. The Long Island Duck and the Scallops were perfect. Now for the areas where there is room for a lot of improvement. We arrived 20 minutes early for our reservations in the club room. We were however seated in the bar area. After speaking to the hostess for a second time, we were moved into the club room... the wait staff was inattentive, disorganized and ineffective. Food was brought to incorrect tables, failed to ask if we wanted another drink and didn't provide the complementary champagne toast at midnight. So while the food was amazing the overall experience left me feeling like I wouldn't go back. We were offered 2 drinks in 5 hours. read more

Went here for a special event recently. Was slightly disappointed. Some dishes (brussel sprouts, sausages) were great. Others (salad,chicken, flourless chocolate cake) were frankly awful. Chicken was way too salty, salad had no flavor, and chocolate cake was served with a cream that tasted like sour cream. For the price...not worth the money. But very hit or mess. read more

We attended an event here, where the Brussels sprouts were divine, and we had dinner there tonight. The vegan sparacelli was delicious, as was the burger. The two drinks were also great - a Cherry blossom and another drink with blackberry. Our server, Kate, was super attentive and helpful, and the view of the stream out the window was really nice. I am really sorry the new Millstream Tavern isn't better, but it's just not. We ate there last night, and I had some issues. First, the service was REALLY slow. A group came inn after my wife and I and seemed to be waited on by what looked like 3 different servers, and got their food LONG before we did. Our appetizer, which was burrata and a tomato, took more than 30 minutes to arrive and there is absolutely nothing to munch on while you're waiting. No bread, ar anything like that. So OK, it was very good. My main dish, selected from the 5 they have to choose from, was roasted chicken. I thought it was WAY over seasoned(LOADED with taragon), but it was OK, until I realized it was totally undercooked. It was actually bloody by the bones and the blood mixed with the pan juices on my plate and almost made me sick. At that point I had eaten almost all of it but I did bring it to the attention of what looked like the manager who apologized and then gave us a $5 discount of the $28 price of the meal (REALLY?). (The meal is JUST chicken. Nothing else.). So while I appreciate the modest effort, you would hope with 5 things on the menu they would be done perfectly. All in all a major disappointment. I went home feeling sick. Not what you want when you spend over $100 on a meal. The first time we ate here when they first opened we really liked it. So maybe they have a different chef. Who knows. We are crossing this place off our list, sadly. We live close and its a nice setting. I NEVER post bad reviews - unless the food makes me sick. read more

My husband and I returned to this lovely restaurant after a break because of Covid but also after a short stint they did with an all-small-plates menu. They're back with a new chef and better than ever. We both had delicious meals on the relaxing deck with wonderful service. We were regulars before and plan to resume as such. Had an amazing dinner here. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. During these winter months the chef is doing more tapas style plates. The menu will change each weekend so we'll be visiting often. We tried about 50-75% of this weekend's menu. Bar atmosphere is non-existent. Felt like being in a cafeteria. Drinks are mediocre and small for the price. Cocktail arrived only half full in the glass. Either change the glass or change the drink. Appetizers were disappointing, tuna crudo was tasteless (other than the olive oil it was sitting in). Chorizo was dry and chewy, potatoes were soaked in oil. Would not recommend either. Nice setting on a golf course by a stream. Attentive nice wait staff who was eager to please; small menu but variety and nice choice of wines and cocktails. We shared a good salad; one of us had the halibut which was superb and the other had the buckwheat lasagna with spinach which was good but not great and not particularly pleasing visually. We didn't save room for dessert but several choices appealed. We definitely would go back and give the restaurant another try. read more

We have eaten at Millstream twice now and the food is excellent. Fluke crudo one night and tuna crudo another and both were superb. The spring salad was also delicious. The halibut, pork and hanger steak entrees are also superb. The staff is attentive. The sun room with the view of the stream is lovely but the dining room is gorgeous and not to be missed. This place really knocks it out of the park for 'fine dining' in woodstock. We really love it. read more
