What? Expresso?! The equipment was there but some 'understanding' was lacking. The interior was well played and they had a nice river view.

I really wanted this place to be good, I really did. Based on location and decor, this place is a 5/5. Beautiful views of the river. Very sleek and airy design. Coffee is lackluster and food is limited and unimaginative. Sandwiches are served in plastic containers with no sides. Chicken salad was loose and bland. Bread was almost moist. Coffee is watery. Hummus is OK but not served with enough pita bread. I hope the food and drinks improve, because the new WIU campus is gorgeous and the building is very nice. Staff were kind and helpful. Menu needs some work. I wish them the best! read more

This place is a gem. It's got a great atmosphere- quiet, good lighting and a beautiful view of the river. I got a drip coffee and it was the best I've had in the city. It was smooth, not acidic or bitter. There's plenty of seating too. It's a bit out of the way, but it's worth it to get the great view of the river. read more

Great atmosphere if you're going for a cup of coffee with friends, or even going to study. The staff is very friendly and helpful when trying to decide what to get. We had the apple cinnamon scone and they were delicious! We didn't get the have the breakfast bowl but will be returning soon to try it! read more

Had the peanut butter banana bacon sandwich... Definitely a good choice. Also had an iced cup of their Costa Rica coffee and it was incredible. Coulda sipped it all day. The space is comfortable and modern, with a high ceiling and a huge wall of windows that fill the room with natural light. Wish I lived in the area so I could hang here on a regular basis. read more

I started going last summer and am a huge fan of the chicken apple salad. I could eat it pretty much every day and not get tired of it. They also have an AMAZING gluten free chocolate chip cookie. I don't have a problem with gluten but have friends who do so we tried it. The cookie, gluten free aside, is a pretty damn good cookie. Try to get one that's on the under-done side and you won't be sorry (if you like that kind of thing). The cookie is pricey but the salad is reasonable. My only "complaint" is it's unpredictable when they will have the cookies. read more

I am solely writing this to just let it be known how my experience was, in hopes something will improve with my next visit. I had a short visit to the coffee shop recently - when I arrived, I stopped by the counter & nobody was to be found- I saw some employees in the back sitting down, however. This doesn't bother me personally, but I do know that in all my customer experience, this isn't the most attractive thing to be doing on the job from a customers standpoint. One woman came & asked me "can I help you?" I had only ever ordered food here once before & had no idea what I wanted but I certainly felt rushed. The woman was partially rude in her presence & obviously didn't want to be there. I was overly nice, as I always am because I have only ever worked in customer service positions. I think she noticed it was a little off putting to me how she was acting & somewhat recovered in her service after I ordered, letting me know that she could bring the order to my table. I ordered a 16oz hot vanilla latte, as they do not offer hazelnut. Apparently their largest size in hot coffees is 12oz, which was a bit disappointing because the woman didn't tell me & I was left with less coffee than what I wanted. The "vanilla" taste to the latte was absolutely nowhere to be found. But I don't complain about these things often, so I drank it. It was still somewhat enjoyable, just not what I asked for. This visit won't keep me from returning - I love the ambiance & it is a great place for me to work. However, I hope your establishment takes these things into consideration. read more

I've yet to have a coffee here that wasn't delicious. That includes both hot and cold pour-overs, which is my favorite method of making coffee. The cafe has that cool brick-and-steel post-industrial design to it, and feels plenty big. Not nearly as crowded as some of the other coffee shops around here, plus it's right off the Moline bike path if you're feeling green. WiFi and power plugs are available too, and the baristas are younger--so they don't seem to mind the laptop nomads. Definitely recommended. read more

Coffee was fantastic and the food was tasty. We had breakfast wraps and sandwiches. This is a very nice place with an urban feel and big windows overlooking the river. It would be nice if they added orange and other juices to the cooler to round out the breakfast selections for those who don't drink coffee or tea. Wanted to write a quick review before I forget. Milltown is my favorite coffee house in the QC. Everything about it is fantastic. Right on the river with windows for walls, completely industrial feel(from floor to lighting, great music, BEAUTIFUL latte art with every cup I've gotten, fantastic quality espresso(I'm from Seattle so I know what I'm talking about), even espresso magazines on the tables, you can even get a beer if you want. read more

While visiting the Quad Cities, we looked for a place for breakfast that wasn't one of the chain restaurants. Saw this place on YELP and thought it would be an ideal place to go. We were not disappointed. Food, though limited in options, was delicious. Coffee was great. Atmosphere was inviting and relaxing. Our only complaint was the loud heavy rock music that played most of the time we were there. Will definitely go back during our next visit to the area. read more

I usually am pretty strict on reviews and totally straight forward and for this I will be the same. This is a phenomenal little coffee shop. The decor and view make it one of a kind but the taste of the food and coffee/espresso make it over the top. Many people are all about the "paleo" lifestyle and after trying the paleo cookies at Milltown, I may also be. The baristas and owners know their coffee and can select a great beverage to your liking. Though I have not had it yet, I have heard positive vibes about a special wrap sandwich they serve as well. 5/5 stars. read more

I have been going to this place since it opened. Over time I have only seen this place going down. My review is based on my experience over the last 3 years. There is certainly no comparison of the space and view. It is just a very nice, big, and beautiful space. However, it the worst place in terms of being a coffee shop because: their staff is just awful. I used to go there almost every day. Now I go there once a month. There are windows of time (over 20 minutes) when there is no one at the counter. The staff just likes to chill in the back room. There are times when I paid and they forgot about my food. I got sick three times after eating their famous Breakfast Bowl! Sometimes, the staff talks in a very strange style (kina like speaking unclearly and intentionally trying to look cool). If you order a coffee in a ceramic mug, the person (server) will literally touch all over the edges of your mug! And this is a usual practice at this place. I don't expect them to wear gloves but atleast show some hygiene when you handle a cafe. The last time I went there, the server actually used his hand to wipe the mug while passing it to me! I was seriously shocked but the server behaved like he is so chill. Their employees also don't stay with them for too long. Three managers in three years... The only saving grace for this coffee shop is their space, location, and view. If you are into coffee shops, it is not the place to go. You may like it the first time but over time it will put you in a bad mood. I travel internationally as well as domestically and seriously know about coffee shops and their culture. This place is just a wasteful investment. I wish they put their act together and actually care about offering efficient, responsible, hygienic, and caring service along the lines of a regular coffee shop. read more

Went July 3, food wasn't anything to shout about, the breakfast bowl was basic, the Caprese Sandwich was essentially a chicken sandwich on bread, very bland. The beer wasn't very cold. Have had the coffee here twice. The staff were nice and polite. However, the coffee was not what I was expecting. I was expecting a smooth flavorful gourmet coffee, and what I got both times was an average tasting coffee. And to make things worse, it was very overpriced, especially considering I was expecting a high quality coffee. So instead of just being disappointed I feel totally ripped off by somebody that thinks it's okay to misrepresent their average coffee as something of much more quality. read more

Today was my first time coming here. The staff was extremely welcoming and very helpful. The interior is beautifully designed and has that perfect coffee shop feel. There is a beautiful view of the river from inside the shop. I stayed here about two hours to work on homework, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommend and I will be back! read more
