The 4 of us ordered our main courses, plus we got the brussel sprouts. Those came out way too quick and must have been under a heat lamp, but weren't hot or warm. Our main courses were okay, but everything was super spicy. Everyone commented how their lips were on fire. Have had fantastic food here followed by spotty service- wrong dishes brought, long wait after sell-out then offered a sub while everyone else at table is eating, etc. Thus, we had not been back in a long time. Well, our service this time was outstanding. Our waitress was witty, cool, fun, and attentive without hovering. She paced the meal from mimosa flight to appetizer to entree perfectly. Corn rib appetizer was a treat for eyes and mouth. The four of us shared the four flight mimosa which we enjoyed. We all are some bites of each other's meals. We all agreed that our least favorite was the burger and fries which was under seasoned in our opinion. The fries seemed like frozen bag fries. On the other hand, the breakfast potato's with the chicken bene were fab. The presentation of the loxy toast was a delight as was the flavor. I had to get away from basic b hell over at SiloFest and took the recommendation of Milo's from a coworker. I really, really wanted to like it but it fell flat. We were there at the weird linner time in between lunch and dinner. I really also wanted to like our server (originally from Chicago with the skyline tattooed on his arm) and he started off good then ghosted us and kept promising our food was coming when it wasn't. I got the Cobb salad with roasted chicken and it was good but nothing memorable. My niece ordered Mac and cheese and they didn't bring it out with our food and Chicago server kept saying it was coming, "They're finishing up the pasta right now", "They're adding the cheese sauce right now" but it turned out to be lies and we were more than half way through our meal when it came out. My daughters and wife picked this as a spot on our way back home to Frisco, and I couldn't have been more pleased. We also had my "buddy" Duke along for the ride, and being able to have him join us on the patio was great. Our server Jonathan was a wonderful host, and recommended some great dishes. We were in a "tapas" mood, and the combination of Deviled Eggs, Brussel Sprouts (which were phenomenal), Lamb Sliders and Elm Salad made for a great set of dishes. We also had the local Coffee (I forgot it's name) but if anyone asks Andy (the wonderful owner), he'll let you know. It was great talking to him and learning about his special rescue dog, Sadie! His heart is as big as his knowledge of locally grown food-to-table, and we look forward to our next visit! Went here on our anniversary and had an average experience. The service was great and the dining area was beautiful and clean, and best of all not overcrowded. With that said, the table in which I was seated, though aesthetically pleasing, the style and function of the table legs made for an uncomfortable seating experience as I could not find a comfortable way to position my legs. We started out with a few appetizers, the Buffalo chicken dumplings and the spinach/artichoke dip. The dumplings again looked amazing, but could not taste the blue cheese drizzle and the Buffalo flavoring was almost an after taste at the end. The artichoke dip was delicious and right on par with any I've had. For the main dish we ordered the braised spare rib that came with a carrot puree and roasted broccoli. The rib itself was cooked tender and paired well with the carrots had a nice flavor, but by itself was a little under seasoned. There was a Dr. pepper glaze that was present but unnoticeable in flavor and the broccoli completely ruined the plate, it was burnt and bitter and I think a different vegetable would better accent the dish. I also ordered the bacon cheese burger which came with Parmesan fries and a jalapeño ranch. This was delicious and beefy, and came with a chimichurri aioli but again while present lacked the bold flair I am used to with a traditional chimichurri. Such a great find in Waco! We dined in with our pup on the dog friendly patio. We enjoyed the corn ribs to start and they were SO good!! We also had two great cocktails! The whisky from the old fashion is from the distillery across the street. Entrees we had the burger and the hot chicken tacos with a side of Brussel Sprouts. Honestly, some of the best ones I have ever had! They were crispy and also had a light drizzle on them- but the perfect amount! I came across Milo while planning our Texas trip, and the modern twist on American classics paired with the "farm to table" concept had us excited. Visually, the restaurant is very welcoming and fresh, and added to our anticipation. The waitress was an absolute champ, she was there when needed and knew the menu in and out, 5/5 for her work! We went off her recommendation to start with the Brussels. They're fried and tossed in a chile sauce. I really enjoyed them, my significant other wasn't a huge fan. They were good though! For entrees we went with the Cooks Venture Chicken Breast and the Bo Ssam Lettuce Wraps. The Lettuce wraps were a 5/5. The pork was spot on with perfect flavor and perfect texture. The lettuce wraps clearly had been chosen carefully, each beautifully green and fresh. We both agreed that this was the star of our dinner. So far everything was excellent until I got to the chicken. The chicken breast was cooked beautifully, moist, crisped skin. Although the breast was beautiful, the flavors weren't there for me on this dish. The chicken was under seasoned, and the sauce appeared broken (creative choice?), but lacked a punch of flavor, mostly bringing a spice that didn't fit with the bland chicken and mushrooms. The mushrooms were possibly the biggest disappointment for me. As an avid fresh mushroom fan, cold, undercooked mushrooms missed the mark by a long shot. Overall, I'd give them a 3.5 if I could. I believe that Milo has some very good food, and love that they have a scratch kitchen with local ingredients. With the small selective menu Milo has, I'd expect every dish to be fine tuned, and executed nearly perfectly every time. I'll likely give Milo another shot in the future, and hope that the rest of the menu will satisfy better than the chicken dish tonight. read more

I am giving it 3 stars but had it been slightly more reasonably priced, it would have been an easy 4. The food was very yummy but $5 for 2 scrambled eggs is a bit much. And a small piece of French toast with nothing on the side for $13 dollars is also a bit much. The food was very yummy and the place was very cute and well decorated. I noticed the waitress filling some bottles with water from the sink and some with filtered water, probably to save time. Just be advised, you may get filtered water but, maybe not. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The space is very loud because of the warehouse-type ceiling so be prepared for sound to carry. Great music choices! They played Taylor swift the whole time we were there! Gluten Free Review: I was in Waco for the weekend with some girlfriends. Two of them went to college in Waco and raved about Milo and their food. We had a reservation and unfortunately when we got their they instantly warned us they were closing soon and to order as soon as we could. I was surprised they even offer reservations at that time to just rush the customer. Anyway, they were nice. I have celiac and they didn't have a gluten free menu but they told me verbally what they could do. I got a burger with no bun in a lettuce wrap. It was the same price as most burger place meals but didn't come with any sides. Which was a bummer. So I ended up getting potatoes on the side. Nothing was bad but it wasn't AMAZING and for the price I wouldn't go again. We also got deviled eggs and they were good but VERY heavy in mustard. I loved it but my friends did not. read more

Maybe the problem with this place is it has become so popular the management doesn't seem to be able to handle the overflow or maybe it was especially busy because the Ironman Triathlon was in town. We went on a Sunday and granted not the best of days but if the management were more consistent in their time estimate for seating this would have gone better. We put our name in and they said the wait would be 1.5 hours and they'd text us when our table is ready. So being tourists, we went to see some sights and planned to be back within an hour and wait there a bit. Well, within in 20 minutes they texted that our table was ready. So we called and told them we'll be there in 10 mins can they hold the table. They said for only 10 mins. We rushed over there then had to wait another hour before they would seat us. Beyond this, while we were waiting, there were several open tables that said "reserved" that no one sat at even after we were seated. I think had they not been so far off on their original time estimate we would have been happier with waiting. We just had the eggs Benedict and and 2 egg breakfast. Being a committed Yelper, I always use my Yelp app to find restaurants when I'm traveling. I was excited to try Milo after finding that it was easily accessible from I-35. The decor is clean and crisp, and the greeting we received was both friendly and comforting, after a long day of travel. We had the Crispy Brussels Sprouts as a shared appetizer, then hubby had sides of eggs and bacon, and the granddaughter and I both had the Farmer's Daughter. Everything was delicious. However, both the grand and I thought that the sweet potato hash in the Farmer's Daughter could have been cooked longer; the sweet potatoes were somewhat crunchy, and we like them softer. But we all ate our food. Every bite. I encourage you to visit Milo. They're doing lots of very right things. And, I can definitely see us visiting Milo again when we are in The Waco area. read more

I thought the design of the restaraunt is lovely. You could walk around and think you're in Austin or California. I really like the look of the bar with the liquor bottles arranged just so. Ordered a Corpse Reviver #2 and a whiskey drink made with a Balcones whiskey. For my entree with a chicken sandwich that mentioned Nashville, it wasn't spicy in the least bit which I didn't care much for. Shared some appetizers like the Gouda grits and nachos dish. We ordered the sic 'em on a chicken to share. I am sad to say, I did not get a picture. It was well presented, but we were starving and it looked so good we just dug it. And it was good.
