Milo's use to be one of my favorites. It has quickly become one of my least favorite. Let me just say that the young lady who took my order was nice. I believe her name was Ulanda. My Milo's experiences have unfortunately been filled with bad fries & sloppy burgers lately. It doesn't matter which location I go to. So disappointing. One bright spot is that the sweet tea is good. The burgers here are excellent and the restaurant itself is clean! Whether I go through the drive thru or inside I always receive great service. One thing I will mention is that I'm not a huge fan of their signature BBQ sauce so I normally get the kid's burger which comes without it and it's so delicious! Here's the thing. I work as a server/bartender and I have experience in fast food as well. If you work in the service industry, you MUST provide a LEAST some customer service. The bare minimum includes counting money correctly and being sure customers are given their change. I was almost stiffed here my money because my cashier in the drive through, didn't agree that I gave her $12 but instead she thought I gave her $11. I politely asked for my change $.98 when she then YELLED at me saying "I ain't get no change". This is not the economy to be stiffing people their money. Thankfully her coworker was nice enough to return me my change. As I drove off, the cashier continued to adamantly yell to her other coworkers "that b* ain't give me no $12". I am extremely upset with the service here and I will NEVER be back. I only gave 2 stars because the food was fire. read more

The whole place is tiled in kitchen tile (has the diamond plate ridges) so unless you have flat bottom or non slip shoes you are going to feel like you are sliding all over the place. Milo's is a Birmingham institution that people either love or hate. I love everything about Milo's. The classic patty and a half hamburger comes with only two condiments: pickles and Milo's sauce. The fries are crinkle-cut and are doused with an (un)healthy amount of seasoned salt and the sweet tea is the sweetest around. As I have now spent a good portion of my adult life in Birmingham, I am ashamed to say that there was once a time that I thought Milo's was "overrated". But the hype made it a little disappointing" Friends: (Punches me in the face, throws me in the parking lot, and tries to hit me with their car as they leave me there in a pool of tears and sweet tea) Well that might be a bit dramatic. But to begin with I was not a huge fan. That is perhaps why it took me a while to go back. But as my love for Birmingham has grown, so has my love for Milo's. It is a staple of Birmingham. But it can be so much more. There are so many things they do well. And coming from a fast food place, saying some of the things they do are the best, is a hard concept to come by. First of all, BEST ICE IN BIRMINGHAM. I am somewhat of an amateur sommelier of ice. Their ice takes the cake. And did you know you can buy bags of it?!? My mint juleps for this year's derby were 100x better because I had a bag of that amazing ice. And nothing goes with amazing ice better than some of the best sweet tea you can buy. I am not a huge fan of the tea from the jug. But straight from the store, outrageously good. The burgers are good. But what separates them is not the burger itself, but the sauce. The crinkly fries are always seasoned well and taste great. Can't go wrong with some good crinkle fries right? The chicken fingers are probably what they do best. Always fresh and taste cooked to order. Definitely some of the best you will find. This location is updated, clean, and friendly. Its location is the biggest appeal to me. Milo's is the Highlands Bar & Grill of fast food. The used to serve only burgers, fries and tea. By "tea," I mean the sweet iced tea that used to be a staple of any southern meal. Milo's tea is so good that it is now sold by a separate company at every grocery store and gas station within 100 miles. The fries are coated with popcorn salt, and THEY DO NOT NEED KETCHUP!Only a heathen would contaminate the flavor of the Milo's fries with unworthy condiments. The burgers come with only four possible toppings: cheese, pickles, onions and Milo's sauce. The sauce has some relation to barbeque sauce, but the exact recipe is a well-guarded secret, much as the Coca-Cola formula. It arrives at the restaurants already mixed and ready to be served, so the employees have no more idea what's in it than you do. I don't know what's in that sauce, but I have long suspected it must contain something both extremely tasty and extremely addictive. I used to work a half block from a Milo's. We ate there three times a week. Sooo good! Milo's has added more mainstream products to its menu over the past 15 or 20 years, including chicken, pies (much better than their McDonald's analog), Coca-Cola drinks, and now even milkshakes. I don't order that other stuff, except for the occasional apple pie, but I imagine they're probably pretty good. They just aren't what makes Milo's so unique and attractive. To be honest Milo's isn't my favorite place, but I do welcome an occasional meal there out of respect for a Birmingham staple. They have thick crinkle fries that are very well seasoned and the sweet tea is pretty good. They have what I call a one and a half patty model on their burgers. Honey, you have to try it to understand! Now, I do LOVE the Milo's sauce which comes generously slathered on your burger. Today, I had the chicken fingers which were made fresh from real chicken breast. (Instead of that pink stuff that some other burgers places use... ehm, ehm) I will say that it's either a place that you love or hate. I'm one of the rare expectations, because I'm in the middle. Went to drive thru before getting kids from daycare. Ordered spicy grilled chicken sandwich and they asked me to pull forward because clearly people don't order these often. 4 cars were served behind me in the time it took for my order to be delivered. It didn't come as a surprise when I opened the container to discover the bottom bun completely sight, even though it had been less than 5 minutes. I can't believe I've never written about a Milo's experience. I've been going to Milo's since I was in college when my wife (then girlfriend) introduced me to it. This experience is representative of most every other time I've been to a Milo's, which ever location I dined in. I remember the very first time I had Milo's. At the time, they sold burgers and fries. Since then, they have expanded the menu with chicken, breakfast, and more. Although they have changed, they haven't lost site at what made them successful from the beginning. Their burgers. I still remember when I was eating my very first burger, I noticed an extra piece of meat in my sandwich. I thought to myself, "man, how luck am I to get an extra piece of patty?" Little did I know, they make everyone feel special with what they call their LSE, or Little Something Extra. I still think about this every time I get their burgers. The signature burger comes with onions, pickles, and special sauce. Of course, you can order it without any of those items, but you can also ask for your onions to be grilled. That's the way my wife and kids like theirs. The sauce is great. I wish I had the recipe...but it's probably a good thing I don't as I would put it on everything I could. Their crinkle cut fries are also great. They don't skimp on season salt which makes them taste amazing. I dip mine in their Milo's sauce. They are also 'famous' for their sweet tea. If you haven't had it, then I don't think you are officially from Alabama. I've had their chicken and it's been good, but their burgers is what I come for. It's fast food, so don't think your getting something else. But as fast food burgers so, this one is on the top of my list. Great experience at this location. Wouldn't hesitate to come here again. This is probably the most inconsistent Milo's in town. Every time we go there is some problem with our order, food forgotten, and time manner. Most recently we went and ordered three meals, which needed to be repeated five time because her headset wasn't working. Frustrating! Then we go to pay and realize that she didn't make one meal mega after asking multiple times and telling us she did and paying for it. Then I seriously felt that she was irritated with us and was shoving the food into our car. Well we didn't drive off immediately because the cashier couldn't figure out how to run the gift card. I was looking in the bag I noticed my chicken sandwich wasn't in there. When my husband said this other lady went back got the sandwich threw in two more small fries I guess to make it mega. My husband and I visited Milo's after hearing great things about the burgers and their secret sauce. Since we are new residents to the state of Alabama, we were quite excited! Unfortunately, a couple things were disappointing and I doubt my husband nor I will visit an establishment again. We went through the drive thru; we specialized our burgers to our liking and gave our complete order. The person taking our order was rudely rushing us, as if our order was an inconvenience to her. When we got to the window, again the customer service was less than satisfactory. It honestly left a really bad impression and before even trying the food, we already questioned whether we would even try to return again. Despite the short experience, we still wanted to really like the food. I'm disappointed to say that it did not meet the hype. The meat patties were dry, flavorless, and barely warm. The special sauce nor the fries were that great either. Overall, even though we really wanted to like this Alabamian staple, and although I would like to also try the other menu items, the experience paired with our food means that we are highly unlikely to return. read more

Worst customer service ever! On multiple occasion I've been to the milos in crestwood and I have waited at the drive through monitor for several minutes before closing for no answer and upon arriving to the drive through window they they tell me their closed. I've ordered one simple order and after they repeat it to me still give the the wrong order and when I bring it back they make me wait longer then I did when I originally order. The girl at the register got so tired of looking at me wait she walked to the back. I received raw chicken finger, Lemon pies in apple pie boxes when I actually ordered apple, and countless other Mistakes that I don't even have the energy to write about any more. I will never in my life go back to this God forsaken place and deal with the horrific attitudes of the employees ever again and I suggest anyone who is reading this not to either ! read more

So, today I took off from work to do chores and keep a few appointments near home. Around 12:30 on this very hot day, I got a specifically Alabamian craving for some sweet tea and salt. Gross, and dehydrating, huh? Of course, Milo's immediately came to mind, so I hopped in the car and cruised to one near my neighborhood. Double cheeseburger combo (includes fries...salty) and an upsized sweet tea (the MEGA size). There is a heavier sweetness to their tea that tastes sinful and very unhealthy, but oh so good. The burger today had a noticeable shortage of pickles (just two tiny slices), but the "chef" was more than generous with onions (chopped, as Milo's always provides). Could've used more pickles, please. The sauce was gooey and drippy, as expected, and the sandwich was HOT! The fries today were a bit oversalted and there were only 8 of them. -.5 for pickle shortage, -.5 for lightness of the fry order. MAJOR PROPS for the tea, and the temperature of the sandwich (by the way, the meat was very fresh). read more
