Customer service was nice. I'd actually ordered on DoorDash thinking it would be delivered but I later realized it was pickup only but that's my fault. Once I picked up the burger it was pretty cold but I still took a bite and it was juicy, flavorful, but the texture of the meat didn't do it for me. My mama was feeling sick a couple of weeks ago. When I talked to her on the phone, she sounded really pitiful. So I grabbed my GrubHub app and ordered her some food from Wayback Burgers. I looked at the menu and decided on chili dogs and onion rings (two of her favorites). GrubHub took her food to her house around 35 minutes after I placed my order and made her feel SO much better. She said her food looked really delicious, and was still warm. Her beef dogs topped with chili and mustard were super tasty, and the onion rings were big. The onion rings were a bit cool, but warmed right up in the oven. She said the WayBack sauce was good and wondered what the sauce contained. She had enough food with the two chili dogs and onion rings to eat for three meals and was happy about it. She highly recommends it and said that she wants to go in person one day. Decided to go here while on lunch, despite the bad reviews. I mean, how can you mess up a grilled cheese and fries? Well, I found out. I walked in to a restaurant with an odd smell. It doesn't really smell like the food or even cleaning supplies. Just..odd. I can't describe the off putting scent any other way. Ordered my kids grilled cheese and fries. It came out pretty quick! That was exciting, til I ate some fries. They were bland and cold, tasting almost like cardboard, even with condiments and salt. Next the grilled cheese. Randomly popped in one Saturday as I was running some errands and had been prompted to try this place as I kept seeing ads on my social media. Lol big brother is always watching. At any rate I tried the big easy burger, it has pepper jack cheese which I love and a creole remoulade sauce that I wanted to try. This was actually just a quick stop for some dessert. We had already eaten lunch, been on a bike ride and were craving a shake. Now back to the task at hand, getting something sweet. They have about 8 or 9 different shake flavors. First thing you notice, they are proud of their shakes, ringing in at almost $6 each. I had a classic vanilla, my wife had the cookies and cream and her son had the mocha. Took them a bit to make them, and noticed that they kept adding milk and mixing....add milk and mix ... add milk and mix. They finished them up and brought them to us. They were barely thicker than regular milk. Would have preferred to have had something with a little more thickness consistency. Next thing I noticed (really easy to tell when you have vanilla) is that there was cross contamination taste from the other two shakes that they made for us. Really they should have made 1 then cleaned the machine and made another, etc. Overall they were ok, but, I've had much better and at a better price point. I ordered a single burger and O'fries on Grubhub to pickup quick for lunch. The order was ready pretty quick and service was friendly when I arrived. The food was "okay". The burger barely had any ketchup but had lots of mayo and mustard though. Lettuce was tough and wilted, not nearly enough grilled onions which I ordered on it. The O'fries were also "okay". The fries were dry as if they had been reheated and had no salt on them. The onion rings were alright but were all stuck together from not being separated when put in the fryer. Overall the meal was edible nothing to write home about or make me want to pay the ridiculous price again. Less than satisfactory food at an astronomical price. Wayback has been in the area (UAB) for a few months now. Somehow, I forgot it existed until we were set to eat at another restaurant today and it was crowded. We walked a few steps to Wayback and walked right up to the counter and were greeted by the cashiers. When I called Wayback burgers, the woman I spoke to was incredibly unprofessional and extremely rude. She said the only way I could get the burger, which I had paid for and which I had paid to have delivered, would be to come to the restaurant and pick it up myself. She said she couldn't drive it to my house herself, which was completely asinine. When I said I just wanted the food I had paid for, she hung up on me. Literally, hung up while I was speaking. Do not order from Wayback burgers. They will mess up your order and then argue that you are responsible for fixing it. In addition, the overall quality of the food was poor. The fries were cold, limp, not crispy at all, and did not have enough flavor, i.e., very little salt and no other flavoring. The soda was flat, and they didn't even include napkins or a straw. The hotdog and burger that were delivered were average. I also requested utensils for the burger and hotdog, but none were delivered. The burger had very little sauce. I ordered the hotdog because the office was raving about it and onion rings. the onion rings are real onion rings not frozen from a bag, so good. the hotdog was good, it had a few too many onions. I love Wayback Burger. And they have the best thickest Milkshake. My favorite is the chocolate banana milkshake. I also always get the Double Bacon Burger with pepper Jack cheese made all the way. Curb appeal-yes. Food quality capital NO. So customers are flocking into the newest burger place in downtown Bham, Wayback Burger. It's theme has 1940/50's type pictures on the wall once you go enter. Customers enter the restaurant and immediately get in line to go up to the cash register and place their order and pay. Everything fine and dandy there. Food doesn't take long to be served to them at the tables, even during a lunchtime rush. Still good. Ordered food for three people from Wayback Burgers through DoorDash yesterday.. food was ok...our order included chicken tenders, their fry/onion ring combo, an impossible burger, and a buffalo chicken sandwich. Onion rings were very good, tenders were better than ok but not fabulous. My problem with the order is that neither the chicken tenders nor the rings/fries were wrapped!!! This was obviously an order for more than one person...why would anyone put food in a bag without some type of wrapper? The fries were everywhere and so were the tenders. Neither person appreciated pawing through a bag/having another person paw through a bag to get their food. Don't know that we will need to order again. read more

Not a review about the quality of food, but difficulty ordering. Placed an order with work colleagues through Waitr around 7:30 PM on a Sunday. The restaurant called us back at 8 PM to cancel our order, claiming they were closed and didn't know why Waitr "let us order" even though I'm sure we just got it in close to the cut-off time. Also, their website says they close at 9PM. Being a Sunday, the 30 minute delay in refusing us totally screwed us for making another order as other restaurants also cut off deliveries early. Nothing special it was ok. I got the cheesy Burger was ok cooked right fresh but it was missing something besides cheese. A special sauce or something could have elevated it. I have seen Covid-19 precautions vary from restaurant to restaurant during the pandemic and at this location it was no different as the employees wore masks and followed Covid guidelines.
