I'm not sure why it was changed but it does not have the quality of 100% beef. It's has the taste and texture of overly processed meat. Everything else is good to go. Here was my experience with Milo's AMBIANCE: Parking: It has its own plaza so you shouldn't have any issues Seating: Room for about 40 people, all inside seating. Vibes: It's in Homewood, south of Birmingham. The spot itself is nothing too flashy, you're in a plaza with other shops - restaurant, gym, and eateries. It's a spacious spot, that takes pride in their food and history. Great for a quick bite or groups. They got a drive through too! FOOD: Cheeseburger (Recommend) A sizable burger, what I think stood out is the freshness of the beef and that secret bbq sauce they had. Add the onions and pickles and it brought a pleasantful kick. Crinkle Fries (Recommend) Lovely, a good crunch and pretty savory. Chicken Nuggets (Recommend) Good portion, well breaded, crunchy, and fresh! Sweet Tea (Recommend) A pleasantly sweet and refreshing drink to enjoy with a meal or individually. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Friendly people and a quick order. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Awesome! As a Bham native, Milo's has been a staple since I was young. I love the thick cut crinkle fries, especially when they're fresh out the fryer and sprinkled with seasoned salt. I stick with a classic cheeseburger or a double if I'm really hungry. I hate onions so I always opt for extra pickles instead. I'm also a fan of their chicken tenders with boom boom sauce...yum! Service was good and quick. The buns are good, but the burger itself and the seasonings are a no. The burger feels like overly processes mystery meat and is overly salty. The fries were also extremely salty. If you've ever had the crockpot/party meatballs with jelly and ketchup (if you know, you know) that's kind of what the burger tastes like. When it comes to franchises in the state of Alabama, this is quite possibly the worst. Milo's "makes" the only fried chicken sandwich I've ever eaten that was worse than even Burger King and McDonald's. Think chicken that's dry as a bone with the worst batter you've ever tasted and the most pathetic bun the world has ever seen, but decent pickles. The chicken tenders are just as subpar, and the french fries aren't much better, horribly over-salted crinkle cuts with little firmness and possibly the worst spice concoction ever invented. Thankfully, the employees are incredibly friendly and the restaurant is clean. It's just the worst food I've eaten since I dared to walk into a Waffle House in 1999. read more

Being a Virginian I'd never even heard of Milo's so I gave it a try. It's not bad. The fries were well seasoned and are thick amd serrated ... like Zaxbys. The burger was sloppy - catchup spilling out and soaking through the wrapper but the food was hit and seemed fresh. It was also tasty. Less then a 5 guys but better than Wendy's. It's been 90 minutes and my stomach isn't in revolt so for fast food I'm not going to complain. I had their Boom-Boom sauce which was a home run. read more

We ordered the Mega Meal, fries, and chicken tenders. We had the original Milo's sauce, and the original Milo's tea. We also ordered Milo's double cheeseburgers to go. I love Milo's, but this location may need an overhaul. Went through the drive thru a few months ago, but decided to give them a second chance. Drive thru took nearly 15 min, which I could overlook, however my cheese burger bun was SO soggy/mushy I gagged during the first 2 bites. I was able to consume about 60%. After that, before wrapping the remainder up and tossing it. It was soggy and very difficult to eat, texture wise. read more

The only thing I hate about Milo's is the sadness I feel when my food is gone. This is my favorite location. I can tell the employees are genuinely happy and want to be there. The service is consistently fast and friendly, and the food is on-point no matter when you go. They're frequently cleaning the kitchen, the counter, and the dining area. Employees that take pride in their place of work and what they do... I LOVE that. I've been a Milo's fan since 1995 when they had one location in Eastwood. 25 years later the only thing that has changed is its success and continued growth! Okay, okay, and the fact that they now batter their own chicken, have more chicken options, more sauces, AND the most important thing... the famous Milo's sauce is self-serve. Finally, I can drown every bite in sauce and not have to constantly ask the employees for more. I always get the cheeseburger combo with sweet tea. The meat is fresh, never frozen, and tastes amazing. They put an extra piece of meat in the middle so the last bite is the best bite. Brilliant. The diced onions and pickles complement the burger well... and the SAUCE! Okay, here's the thing about the sauce. I need extra sauce in my cheeseburger, and on top, AND also dipped in more sauce prior to putting it into my face hole. I need the sauce on my fries and I need the sauce on my sauce. The sauce makes everything extra FIRE! The crinkle cut fries are SOOO good. Crispy on the outside, soft and potatoey on the inside, and sprinkled with orange crack powder. The burgers, fries, and sweet tea must contain crack because I can't stop craving this stuff. It actually hurts my feelings when I'm finish with my meal because I immediately miss the taste in my mouth. The sweet tea is legendary. I've been drinking it my whole life and it's sold in gallons at most stores across the U.S. I love being able to at least have a small taste of Milo's at home, even if it's only the Sweet Tea. I crave Milo's Hamburgers every time I approach Birmingham. This place got me through MANY meals and stressful college days years ago. Their burgers are AMAZING, loaded with what can be described as a BBQ-steak sauce known as their Milo's sauce. The cheeseburgers they're whipping up has grilled onions, cheese, pickles and Milo's sauce smothered on it, and I swear I eat my burger from here in record time because it's so good. I enjoy dunking my fries in that Milo's sauce too! Most of the folks working here are really nice. My latest visit allowed me the joy of a woman working the drive-thru from their covered awning above an entrance door, and it was evident she was not happy... But everyone else seemed to enjoy what they do and made the visit nice! The tea tasted a bit old, but my food was fantastic! Looking forward to next time! read more

We used to come here all the time pre-pandemic and it was always four stars for me. Yummy burgers, hot fries, great dipping sauces for the chicken fingers, and fantastic sweet tea....not too much to complain about. Today was our first time back since the pandemic hit. Employees were nice overall. The food was bad. Two stars bad. Edible but not something I would ever go back for. I don't know what happened but other than the sweet tea still being fantastic, everything else was just okay at best....even the double-o sauce was just okay!! It's really hard to describe why everything wasn't as good as it used to be.....you would know if you go try it, haha. I probably will go back again.....eventually.....once I forget today's experience. Maybe it'll be better again next time! I come to Bham once a month and havent tried Milos yet. Tried plenty of places for breakfast and was in the area and wanted something local and these guys have a good name. We had breakfast so this review is for Breakfast Only. The crew was very helpful and attentive. The dining and kitchen areas very clean. The food came out quickly. The grits had a few lumps. The biscuits thin. The Dr Pepper was slightly over carbonated. Pricing was on the high side for fast food with no senior drinks. I now realize Milos is a hamburgers and tea type retaurant. I'd probably give Milo's 3.5 stars but since you can't give halves, I'm rounding down not up. We came through the drive thru so i did not go into the store. The wait at the drive thru was okay and the order was correct. However, we were told to pull over and wait in parking area because my chicken sandwich was still being cooked. All the food was piping hot so 5 stars for that. Got a burger for the dogs, they loved it. I ordered the spicy grilled chicken sandwich. I honestly didn't think it was spicy at all and it was actually very bland. There was no flavor to it. It was so blah, I didn't finish it. Hubby ordered a peach pie to try. The filling was not very good and the crust itself was also very bland. I got a free apple pie w my sandwich for having to wait and although it was a little better than the peach, it still wasn't great. I definitely would never get a pie again. If I based whether I would come back on this order alone, the answer would be no. However, I've had their burgers before and like them and their fries are really good as well. When you go in the store, I like all the different sauces they have. So, my advice would be to stick to the burgers. read more

From the reviews that I've read and the many locals I've had conversations with, Milo's was the place to go. Now The burger was perfectly cooked, the bun was just right and now that I've been here twice, I knew to ask for the Milo's sauce to not be placed on my burger. I realize that every place has their thing and the Milo's Sauce is that "thing" but for me it's a No Go. The staff was super friendly and was very patient while I debated what I wanted to order. I had the Double Cheeseburger with extra cheese, fries and a Coke. I'm a fry guy and the fries are Top 5 of any place I've ever been. My suggestion is that you ask for their Milo's seasoning salt and also their Milo's Honey Mustard sauce. I learned about these two items from a prior Chicken Tender meal. (It was great, try it if you come here) All in all I'll have to give them a 5 out of 5. I know folks rave about the sauce that Milo's puts on their burgers... but I am not one of those folks. For me the sauce is a bit overwhelming, so I always order my burgers with out that sauce. I will get the rest of the fixings, which actually puts more of an emphasis on the meat itself. Now the burger is a little above average for a fast food place. However the meat has nothing special about it. With out the sauce to hide it's taste, it is indeed a bit bland. Now the fries, I have to admit the seasoning they put on them is really good, the only drawback to the fries is the unevenness of this seasoning. Some you get with a good bit and others hardly have any on them. For me this is a quick lunch type of place. If I have to work through lunch and just need something fairly fast I stop by here. All of the staff are really friendly and always pleasant to deal with. For me that is what keeps me coming back, the staff and the speed. read more
