Friendly service, juicy burger, located in an unassuming convenience store. No frills-takeout only.

Great food, fast. Don't let the exterior fool you. You will get a great meal for a reasonable price. Try the butter beans and pork chop!

The Hungarian Peppers were the star of the meal for us. They were in season so they were perfectly…read morespicy and the sausage was perfectly cooked. The focaccia was so fresh and you can tell it was made in house. It could be eaten alone or dipped in the olive oil/sauce mixture under the peppers. The steak frites was good, but I wouldn't say it was the best thing ever. Steak was cooked well but lukewarm when it came out and the fries lacked any crunch. The hollandaise sauce was very good though. Would definitely try either the pizza or the chicken schnitzel if I came again. The spicy lamb rigatoni was good as well. Could've used a little more lamb but otherwise it was a very solid and flavorful dish. Very happy that we tried the cheesecake. There were layers to the flavor as you got to taste the white chocolate and raspberry sauces first, and then it transitioned into the sweet cheesecake and the homemade crust. The crust really was what made the dish, as you could pick out cinnamon type flavors which added a little spice to balance the sweetness of the cheesecake. Overall I would definitely (and probably will) come here again. The modern and cozy ambiance was great, and the staff was there at every turn to take your dish, pour a drink, or even box up your leftovers.

For my entrée, I had the chicken schnitzel, which was outstanding. It was perfectly cooked, crispy, and packed with flavor. Our server was excellent as well--friendly, attentive, and helped make the evening even more enjoyable. Great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back! Wow! This burger joint is amazing and better than Jack Browns imo…read more We ordered the cowgirl - American cheese, horseradish aioli, bacon, 2 waygu beef patties. Absolutely delicious and crave worthy. The burger was juicy and flavorful everything I wanted. The bun was toasted to perfection. My husband got the regular hand cut fries and I got the sweet potato fries. Literally the best SP fries I've ever had they were crispy and perfect balance of salty sweet. Yum! I wish we had one in HSV guess I'll have to drive back just for the burgers lol. They also serve different styles of hotdogs and fried pies for dessert. They have a few beer options and fountain drinks. Our food came out quickly and the whole place had a funky cool vibe.

They have a wide variety of specialty burgers, hot dogs, and sides, and I feel that I could try something new every time I come here. I chose to order the Vulcan hot dog, named after an infamous monument of Birmingham. I love how they have so many different types of hot dogs with varying toppings to make your order truly personalized. I chose the spicy option with jalapeños and it did not disappoint! Also, these are the best fries I have had in Birmingham if you are looking for a plant-based option here. When I ordered, I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. She told me it would be right out, and my order was given to me within 5 minutes. Besides the great food, the ambience is the best part of this place! There is an upstairs area with additional seating, and the interior of the restaurant is covered with vintage, American decor. The walls and decorations really sell the All-American vibe associated with burgers and hot dogs. If you are looking for a new, local burger spot that feels like home this is a great option!

I'm not a beer drinker but I do respect a fun place to squat and people watch. And this place fits…read morethe bill! Back Forty is huge-with plenty of seating to accommodate large crowds, couples or even families with little ones. There's plenty of big screens to watch the games on, and I would really love to come back during football season to do just that. I ordered their infamous Back 40 cheeseburger on this visit. While it wasn't my favorite, for a brewery it was definitely above average. It was juicy, made to order and fresh. I didn't care for the sauce nor the stringy onions so I would order it plain next time or try something else on the menu. The shoestring fries were well seasoned with something like garlic parmesan. They were my delicious! The staff were friendly and helpful as we placed our orders. This is a cool spot to hang with your friends, drink, eat and watch some sports or watch the trains go by. I enjoyed my visit and I'm looking forward to coming back.

People often host their own little parties and events at the picnic tables here. I came on a Sunday afternoon, and it seemed like a lot of families came for lunch and to hang out after church. The food here is certainly impressive food for a bar to me. I love the wood fired pizzas. I will say, I think the size is a bit awkward. They're a little too big to be a single serving, and a little too small to be for two people. The beer is all good. Service at the bar always friendly. The fries here are some of my favorite in town. Shoestring.
