Received a card solicitation in the mail from this shop and after a few months of the card sitting on my desk,I decided to try this place. I drive a 2013 Volvo s80. They kept my car for 4 days. I rented a vehicle while they worked on my it. They gave the car back to me not 100% the problem was solved. I was charged about $800 pretty much for a tune up because all they did was replace the plugs and change a filter. 2 weeks later. Exact same problem with my Volvo. Brought it back, they still couldn't figure out the problem, after keeping it two more days...never even bothered to call me...I had to call them. So, $1200 later, because the rent-a-car from the previous time they had the car cost me about $400., the car is the same. Don't claim to be a specialist if you can't solve the problem in the first place. read more

My daughter has a Land Rover LR3 which are tricky cars to work on. Crazy British engineering. Rob has always been extremely professional, very knowledgable as well as thoughtful with any odd job we have brought to him. Rob always explains the details of why the repairs need to be done as well as how he will complete the job. Always with a very accurate quote. I brought my car to Milton Auto Repair for a coolant leak. This was my first time using this shop since they changed owners a few years ago. The issue was diagnosed very quickly and Rob called me with a reasonable estimate and breakdown before he started the work. He took the time to patiently answer a few of my questions, and I gave him the go ahead to proceed with the repairs. Within a couple of hours I got a call from Rob saying that the work was complete. Instead of replacing the expensive coolant tank, they were able to replace an inexpensive pressure valve, at a savings of about $120 below the estimate. These technicians are easy to deal with, honest, and capable. The shop and waiting area are very clean. Another aspect of the service that really impressed me was the communication. Where many shops wait until end of day to let you know what's happening, or worse, and my biggest pet peeve - wait for you to call them, Rob called me as soon as the car was done so I could pick it up and get on with my day. read more

One of the tires on my Subaru had a slow leak. I knew that if I brought it to the dealership or a tire shop they would try to sell me a new tire--or more likely a set of four. The tires have only 25k on them, and they're still in good shape. I didn't want a new tire, I wanted to get this one fixed. I live right down the street from this shop, so I decided to give them a shot. I'm glad I did. It's a father and son operation (Ed Sr. and Jr.), and I dealt with old Ed. They previously had a shop in Needham, and have been in Milton for two years. When I drove in, he said I could either wait an hour or just come back. When I came back in an hour, he drove my car right in, fixed the tire, and I was out of there in less than 30 minutes. A minor fix, but I had enough of a conversation with Ed to tell he's a straight-shooter. I'll be back next time. read more

My car needed a sudden repair and as someone who drives 50+ miles a day for work I needed it done ASAP- I didn't say this but Rob still had it fixed by the end of the day that I brought it in!! He was so kind and even offers a 10% discount on labor for college students, such as myself, which was amazing. read more

These guys completely saved the day for me twice. I had gotten a flat tire on my way to work one day and came to these guys after word of mouth said they were good, and they did not disappoint! Got my new tire after a few days (it had to be special ordered to match the treads since it was a snow tire) and couldn't be happier. Then a few weeks later I developed a coolant leak and was in serious danger of overheating my engine so I went back to them, and when they checked it out they told me that I basically would not be able to drive it without risking serious damage to the engine. So I was trying to figure out how I'd get home since I live in Boston when one of the guys (I believe it was Jack, but I'm terrible with names) actually gave me his car to use! I was floored but he insisted. So I drove it that night and brought it back the next day to pick my car up after everything was fixed. These guys get my highest recommendation. read more

Avoid this place! My daughter, a student at Curry brought her car in after a fender bender. It was on a Thursday. They told her $550 and it would be ready on Mon. They first looked at it on Mon and wouldn't give us a ready day. Suddenly , there was a lot of costly damage from this small fender bender. They lost my trust and my daughter picked up her car now in worse condition. They left the car open with keys on the seat. Don't use these guys...the definition of untrustworthy read more

This place is fantastic!!! Had a flat on the way to Boston and found Milton Auto Repair doing a google. He got aus a new tire and had us on our way in no time. The interesting part is that upon arriving back in NYC, my purse was stolen with the receipt from Milton's that I needed for reimbursement. I called Jack and he immediately sent me a copy and when that one was lost in the tangle of a group fax machine he resent. The point is Jack really went out of his way to help me out after the fact and we soooo appreciated it. read more

Rob took over this place a few years ago, and he and his crew are awesome. They are super easy to work with and most importantly they offer me options on how to fix the car - for example, I have an older car that I don't want to put a lot of money into keeping, and so when my exhaust rusted they offered to cut, replace and weld the part instead of replacing the entire thing. Time and time again - they go above and beyond. Awesome crew that I highly recommend. read more

I have been using this shop for many years now. I used to go there way before these guys bought it, and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of work that they do. For starters, they are honest. I can tell you so many stories with examples of work that they performed and they saved me a lot of money. Once I went there with a strange noise coming out of my SUV, and after they investigated they told me that I didn't have to worry about it immediately, and that I could go back at some point later if it got any worse. I was a little skeptical and I decided to take my vehicle to another shop for a second opinion. They told me that the problem was "very serious" and that the cost of the repair was about $700. I told them that I would go back later that week, and I went on to yet another shop to verify the severity of the problem. This time the issue got upgraded to "extremely dangerous" and the price went up to over $800. I decided to go back to the Milton Auto Repair and asked the guys to explain to me what the problem was, and what it would cost me. It was the front end stabilizer (was a little worn out), and it would cost me $325. I had the work done there immediately. This is just one example of their honesty. I would strongly recommend that you give them a try. read more

Just went there to have them press a bearing off of a knuckle. Simple job. Would have paid them but the lazy jerk wouldn't do it. He was just sitting at his computer when I went in. If they wouldn't take money to do such a simple job, I sure wouldn't trust them with a big job. He straight up lied to me too. Told me the only place that could do such a thing is a bearing company. Needed a garage close to my mothers apartment. She had something hanging from her muffler. Stopped in and they took me in quickly. It was just an un necessary metal shield. They just pulled it off and I was on my way. Some garages would have charged me and tried to upsell me. They were great. I had to fight with him to take any money for it. Place was clean and I had a conversation with another customer who lived close and he goes there for all his car needs. He said they were great as well. Great find. Jack couldn't have been more helpful. Came in as a new customer to get a flat fixed and Jack observed (accurately) that the tire was irregularly leaking air from a dried and cracking seam in the rubber. Also observed very uneven ware. I asked Jack to add some air to get me to my morning appointment and I made a future appointment to replace the old tire. I tried to pay Jack for his effort but he refused payment. Said he was building his business and in any case never charged for small incidental repairs. This is the kind of shop and owner attitude I will definitely continue to support. Rob is wonderful. Kept getting battery light coming on, in my car. The light would come on out of nowhere and then all of a sudden go out, but I have a new battery and Alternator. This was worrisome cause I didn't know what the car was trying to tell me but I knew something was wrong. I also wasn't able to pass inspection for inspection sticker. I wasn't passing for Evap, O2 sensors and CCM. I had 3 monitors that were not ready to pass. You only need one monitor to not be ready in order to pass inspection. Which I did not know all this. Called the registry of motor vehicles, to ask what can I do, the car has been well maintain even though I have over 100,000 miles on the car. They told me to bring the car to these Emission shops where the technicians specialize in emissions and know what to look for. My closet shop was Milton Auto Repair. Took car in and was greeted by the nicest guys. Rob asked what parts did I replace recently. I told him I replaced an Alternator with an aftermarket name. He told me to start out by replacing that aftermarket Alternator with one from the Dealer. The Alternator is the Brain of the car and don't ever put a cheap one in. The aftermarket was $ 380.00 dollars and the dealer one was $ 800.00 , so yes , I was trying to save some money. And that's not including labor, those prices are just for the part ! Huge mistake. I will never go with aftermarket again ! Once I put in dealer Alternator all my problems disappeared ! Battery light never came back on, all the monitors cleared for me to pass inspection ! I couldn't believe it ! I was so happy. And yes I did get reimbursed for the aftermarket alternator. Thank You Rob so much for figuring out what was wrong with my car. You are the best. Horrendous! Told me I needed all this work done but wouldn't call me back. Said i needed to replace three very major parts of the car when i finally got sick of the run around and took it to a different garage I infact needed a few MINOR repairs, nice try! After weeks of trying to get this place to fix my car the new garage had it fixed in a day and a half! Stay away please since telling friends about this they have told me so many horror stories even a local law enforcement personnel told me to never go there again! Even when picking up papers a customer was really upset that he had breaks replaced but they didn't even bleed the breaks.... Pretty standard no? read more

Most of the other mechanics that have serviced my car in the past, have guessed at noises and bangs, and I always had to leave the car for days on end. Here, a different story, the mechanics took a real look and wasted no time fixing the thumps. No delays and the 1996 Olds works as good as a 2012. read more

I called Milton Auto Repair to get an estimate/quote on my grandmother's car. The car was dead and I suspected it was a dead battery, but wasn't sure. My grandmother can be difficult and was very hesitant to pay for a tow. Rob was friendly and patient on the phone. My grandma requested that he come by to test the battery (she lives less than a mile away) and he agreed! I know he was super busy too, but he still made the time to go to her place to test the battery. Of course, the car ended up having to be towed anyway, but I know my grandmother really appreciated his effort. Whenever I called he picked up and he kept me posted on my grandmother's car throughout the day- great communication. The quote he gave me in the morning was accurate to the price it came out to be after the work was done. I felt like Rob and his crew were honest, reliable and knowledgeable. I used to go to this place when it was under different management and the service was no where near this good. I am super impressed with the new leadership here. I'm glad I had my grandmother's car worked on here and if I need anything in the future, now I know a good spot! Super thankful for Rob's help today. read more
