    Georgian Salad

A group of us decided to make plans for a Russian supper club for a recent Saturday. We primarily chose Mimino's because it offers an al la carte menu. Most of the other places only offered pricey banquet style options. So, this is certainly a plus of this Russian and Georgian BYOB establishment. I tried calling to make the reservation, but there was certainly a communication barrier. I had a hard time understanding her and vice versa. My friend, who is Russian, then took over the coordinating aspect. She even found it a bit challenging even though she spoke the language. Although polite, the service is on the slow side and not very personable. The food was good and we had the opportunity to try a large section of items with our large group. We tasted the Georgian salad, Russian bread, Caviar with crepes, and various other breads filled with cheese. For my main I ordered the Chicken shish kebab. I found it rather bland and portion size of the main meals is small. Music is offered every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night starting at 9:00 pm. The night we were there it did not start until 10:15, which was disappointing. Tip: Make sure you dress appropriately (no shorts or jeans). One of our friends wore shorts, bad decision, and was asked to leave.

Came here for a holiday function, and despite some annoyances, had a great time at this Russian /Gregorian restaurant. That's more a function of the people I was with than the restaurant itself. My coworker made reservations for about 20 ppl and we were place on a long, but extremely narrow table. It only had enough room to place the dinner plates across the table, so it was pretty hard to find space for anything else once the food was set on the table. Overall the food was good. The prefix menu we ordered had pickled veggies, salad, a sweet potato and beet dish, nova lox, and sliced turkey (I think). The turkey was the worst of the bunch. Their salads were tasty. Next we were served a cheesy bread, which was unbelievably awesome. I could eat the whole circular pie if I was the only one there! The following dishes were fried potatoes, soup dumplings, seafood linguine, and pork shish kebob. Everything was delicious, except the linguine was mushy and the skin of the Gregorian soup dumpling was too thick for my Asian preference. The meat and soup was good though. Definitely it was cool to try. The salmon and shrimp in that linguine was excellent though. I'd eat that again! For the rest of the evening, the dance floor was open and they had complimentary DJ and singer for our entertainment. I think they have this on the weekends for regular diners as well. They were entertaining but they were playing Russian music for part of the time. My major issues was the service, if you can get to one. The main issue with this restaurant is there are no private rooms, so we shared the slave with another party that was double our group! With the music and other patrons it's hard to hear yourself talk at times. We also had to share the dance floor, which is super small! Also, there was a huge wait for our food as there weren't enough servers. Not to mention dessert and coffee came after midnight, when we were done around 10:30! But, the restaurant was still open and the entertainment still happening, so I guess that was a good thing. At least the dessert was delish. It was worth the wait. It was a flaky pastry with custard in it. I'm sure it was packed with calories and I didn't care! Definitely give the place a try though. I'm sure it's nicer when there's not a party happening. There's plenty of parking in this strip mall. You need to check with Google if this place is open. I was told that if there's a party, the owner will close it to the public if the place is full. It's BYOB.

I have been dying to try this place for a while!!! Friday night I was in the mood for caviar and champagne so my husband and I decided to give Mimino a try.. We first called to find out about their dress code and entertainment schedule.. Dress code= causal, (no jeans) and entertainment after 9pm Fridays and Saturdays. We arrived for dinner at 7pm; first impression was "we made a mistake;" there were only two full tables with guests.. and one long table set up for what it appeared a large reservation!!! We were promptly seated, after handing our champagne bottle to the waiter.. we waited a while to be approached again. The waiter came back with our champagne in an ice bucket anxious to take our order. Service= poor, waiter was not very forthcoming on any recommendations or very knowledgeable on the menu .. We ordered appetizers without realizing that bread needs to be ordered as part of the meal... needless to say we were almost done with the appetizers when the bread arrived. The appetizers which were sample platters were okay, the bread was delicious!!! For our main entrée we had lamb chops which came with potatoes as side dish. They were well prepared but we have had better. Food= Okay By now, a male singer and a female singer with wonderful voices each entertained us by singing individually with their own styles and repertoires. We enjoyed them very much! As per an added surprise the long reserved table turned out to be a celebration for somebody's birthday!! They provided the rest of the patrons with a "free show" of the most talented belly dancer I have seen performed!! Entertainment= Excellent time!!!

Absolutely delicious food and incredible service…read more I've lived in this area the majority of my life and only recently dined at this restaurant. I am not an adventurous eater, but I could kick myself for not going sooner. The food was that delicious and very importantly reasonably priced. My husband and I decided to try it during a date night, and I can't wait to go back. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our starter was Tandoori Samsa. Our entrees were the Classic Lamb and Plov Samarkand. For dessert we shared the Pahlava. If I had to change anything I would have ordered my own Pahlava. We are already planning to go back for his birthday with the whole family.

My family and I came here with my father-in-law and absolutely loved our meal. My kid found this…read morerestaurant after searching reviews and we wanted to try a new place. Grand Slam Home Run. We found out that most of the people (regulars) who usually come here are on their vacation season so it was not an issue getting a six-top reservation with only a day's notice. The restaurant is huge with at least two mega rooms downstairs and one upstairs. We actually went to the upstairs door to check in only to be told we had to go to the downstairs door and check in there. Once we did, the staff asked if we would be ok with being in the "party" room where there would be a DJ. We were fine with that and the staff was more than happy to accommodate us. Once at our table, the extensive menus made it almost too difficult to decide what we wanted. May want to consider reducing the food options here. My wife and I split a tomahawk steak. Once we ordered it, we were told we should probably move to an eight-top because we would have more space. The place was almost empty at 6:15pm on a Saturday so we got to move and give us some more room. We also had two serving of Plov, a prime NY strip, a roasted beet salad, and a chicken fingers with fries. We added some bread, too, along with some compote. The Plov was some of the best we've ever had with lots of tender meat. Both steaks were cooked to our liking. Fries were killer and the chicken fingers were fine. I did not care for the compote as I'm used to it with fruit still in the drink. At about 7pm, the DJ started but there was no separate party which is what we thought was going to show up. The DJ sang some and played up-tempo dance music but also threw in some known music like Ob-Bla-Dee Ob-Bla-Dah from the Beatles also in the dance music style. So much fun after drinking a lot of our BYOB alcohol. Service was excellent and more than accommodating for us. He even advised when we were getting ready to leave that it was raining hard and we could stay until it died down. The restaurant is colorful with lights and designs on the walls including projector lights and white linen sheets above. The place was clean and also the bathrooms on the lower rear level. $305 not including tip for six adults which included two steaks, two Plov, chicken fingers with fries, three breads, and a compote. I mention a lot with my reviews that I'd come back to a place. I really can't wait to return to Samarkand! It was just a lot of fun with excellent food and service. I hope it's just as good when the place is slammed and full.
