Mimi's Bride here!! ‍ First off I'd like to start by saying that I'm SO glad I didn't allow the negative reviews to deter me from giving this place a shot. Not only did I find my dream dress here, but from the minute I came in I felt like family here. I highly, highly recommend this bridal boutique if you are in the southeast MI area! All of the employees are so sweet and genuinely invested in giving every bride the perfect bridal experience. Being a plus size bride, I struggled to find shops that carried dresses in my size and Mimi's is one of the few where I was able to actually try on dresses that fit. I ended up going for a dress that my mom found (mom always knows best!) and they worked with me as I turned a couture gown into a custom design specially made for me. They offer in-house alterations at an added charge and even though the prices are steep, the quality speaks for itself. For reference, my budget was $3,000 -my dress & veil combined ended up being just under $2,000 and I paid $900 for alterations (keep in mind I re-designed the whole top of my dress and had 15 bustles!) so I still came in under budget and ended up with a unique one of a kind dress that no one else has. While I went the extra mile for my dress, I can confidently say that all the gowns here are amazing quality and do not need any alterations apart from tailoring it to fit your body perfectly so many brides from my community have chosen Mimi's bridal in recent years and they all looked stunning in their gowns! read more

Mimi's was an excellent experience all around. I was looking for a specific dress and had a short timeline, so I did verify they had the dress in stock before making an appointment. Once I was there, they listened to concerns I had with how I would like the dress to fit and asked questions to make sure they understood the type of dress styles appealed to me. Lots of options in all price ranges. I liked that they do all alterations in house and I met the seamstress to speak about changes I wanted to get a price idea of alterations ahead of time - I wanted to stay within my budget roughly including alterations. The employees were all so sweet, on the phone and in person. In the end I chose a different place/dress because I was starting to feel pressured to make a choice on the spot. I did find a dress I liked and they kept saying it's good to dress search.... But in the next breath would mention how I should get the dress now. There were all these small comments about why to get this dress now, nothing obvious or outwardly pushy but after about the 10th time of hearing this , I already decided that I would purchase from here regardless of the dress. As far as dress selections, I was also a little annoyed that all dresses looked the same from other stores/designers, but the quality of dresses did seem better here. I love my dress I got here! Absolutely beautiful! However, I don't like how much alterations cost here. I was quoted $500 to take my dress in, and another $500 to hem the dress. They also were going to charge me $30 a button for my bustle, and mine had 5 buttons. I ended up taking my dress to a private seamstress for less than half the price Mimi's was charging. They were being really vague about pricing during my consultation as well. Brides, please don't feel pressured to pay a crazy alterations price. I rarely leave reviews on Yelp but this Boutique was simply phenomenal. I came in not having any idea of what kind of dress I wanted. Cat was so sweet and helpful while I was picking out dresses. Upon picking the dresses I was asked if I wanted help getting in the dresses or if I preferred doing it myself. I tried on several dresses before I found the one. They were extremely helpful with my timeline. I came in 2 months before my wedding to pick the dress which I found out later was very late, and learned some brides do this a year in advance. But they worked with my short timeline and I was just left speechless with the end product. Alterations took about two weeks and the price was reasonable for the work done. I worked with Cat, and she was amazing! I'd been to two bridal shops before this, and the stylists at those places kept making me try on things that they insisted I'd like once I tried them on, despite having details that I very specifically did not want (eg, excessive beading and sequins). Cat, on the other hand, listened to me, suggested dresses that actually worked on my body type, and even pulled a window mannequin so I could see the dress side by side with the one I had on. There was no pressure to buy, even when I told her I had another appointment at a different boutique. I ended up coming back that same day to purchase a dress, and she seemed genuinely excited for me when I walked back in the door. I also got to meet the owner, Yvette, who was incredibly kind and also not pushy at all. She was very knowledgeable about alterations - what could be done, what would be difficult, and an estimate of the cost. My dress hasn't come in yet, so I don't have any experience beyond the appointment and ordering, but I'll update when my dress comes in and after fittings. read more

I had such a good experience here! I had already been to 3 other bridal shops, including a particularly well known one in Birmingham that several friends got their dresses from. I worked with Salwa, who is totally amazing, and while I wasn't sure about some of the things she picked out for me at first, my two final choices were both ones she picked out. I ended up buying a Hayley Paige one that she picked out, and my whole family loved it including my dad. She really knows what she's doing! (Ann Arbor Store) Two stars only because they carry gorgeous dresses. They definitely don't waste their space. But, I walked away from a gown that was quite honestly my dream dress because the staff, including the owner, were so overbearing and pushy that I wasn't comfortable doing business with them. They were just concerned with the sale, no doubt about it. The entire experience was bizzar, from having an unfriendly welcome, a consultant who went from one extreme to the other in terms of being helpful and horrible, and both the consultant and owner not respecting my concerns or questions about the dress. They absolutely treated me like a child who didn't know any better, and that was while they were "playing nice." I can't imagine how it would have been once they dropped their obviously fake facade. I would never recommend Mimi's to anyone unless you or someone who comes with you has a solid grip on exactly how the bridal industry works, you have a large budget (she repeatedly brought me dresses more than TWICE my budget), and you care more about the dress than the experience. Even then I would recommend finding a seamstress just to avoid having to work with them more than absolutely necessary. Do yourself a favor and skip this place if you're not feeling 100% sure you can handle their consultants. read more

I had an excellent experience at Mimi's. I had an appointment on a weekday afternoon and went with my mother. Everyone was very friendly and our consultant was very helpful and sweet. The dress I ended up getting was actually the very first one I tried on. It was perfect. Since ordering, I have called the shop with questions and everyone I talk to on the phone is really nice and helpful. I don't know why so many people write negative reviews on here. I was in a strange situation where I needed a dress at the last minute, and I hated everything I tried on at David's Bridal. Mimi's basically saved me. The people at Mimi's were much more helpful than the folks at David's, but not at all pushy. The dresses are just obviously on a different quality tier than the ones at David's Bridal. That means you will need help getting into them--these are gowns, not just white dresses, but the salespeople provide that help in a totally professional and courteous manner. I bought a floor sample and they had it sent out to be cleaned by some special business in Detroit and had it altered (had to be taken in and up quite a bit) very quickly. The in-house tailor did a spectacular job--it fits absolutely perfectly, looks like it was made for me and not at all a rush job. While I was trying it on for the fitting in the upstairs room, where they have bridesmaid's dresses, they asked my permission before allowing a groom to come upstairs to browse, which I thought was very considerate of them. And the saleswoman who was helping me gave me a pair of earrings for free as a gift after I purchased the dress. Most of the floor samples are a size 10, which may affect your experience. read more

We were not welcomed into the shop. We did have an appointment, but wanted to look at bridesmaids dress first, as I specified on my appointment request form. And they seemed to have a fit about this request. Clare, our associate, was wonderful. She was so sweet and helpful during the process for both bridesmaids and bride dress. However, the owner or manager of the store was in and exceptionally rude. I overheard her talking to Clare and trying to push us out. Even when we first walked into the boutique, the manager was rude to us. Extremely pushy and unfriendly. While I'm sure I found my wedding dress at Mimi's, I will not go back. I do not recommend this store to anyone. While the dress selection was good and our associate was good, there was a horrible vibe in the store and we were clearly not wanted. read more

My fiancee came home crying after an appointment at Mimi's Bridal Boutique. From the moment she walked in, they were unprofessional, fully lacking empathy, and incredibly pushy. Multiple times throughout the process, she was presented with a preliminary contract. which she was ordered to sign guaranteeing a deposit before ever discussing anything. My fiancee flat out told the attendant how unprofessional her behavior was and how uncomfortable she felt and ended up leaving distraught and in tears. As she was leaving, she could see the girl with an appointment after her was already wearing the dress she had just tried on (idiotic salesmanship more than anything). Bottom line, this is the antithesis of how wedding dress shopping should be -- STRONGLY RECOMMEND TO NOT go here unless you want to be pressured into spending thousands of dollars prematurely. read more

Mimi's was fabulous! This was my second time there. I was there 2 years ago when I was a bridesmaid and had such a great experience so I went back when I was looking for my wedding dress. Beth was a blast to work with. She actually was our consultant when we were looking for bridesmaids dresses and then again when I went back. She remembered us as "the drop it like it's hot girls" which I think meant we left a pretty good impression on her. She listened to what I wanted, didn't want and pushed the envelope with some styles that I didn't think I wanted but ended up loving. Bottom line. Beth knows her stuff. I went to 4 other boutiques through out Michigan and Mimi's was by far the best overall experience. All the staff are helpful, put together, and their service is unbeatable. People at Mimi's know wedding gowns. Period. I had no idea what I wanted, other than that I wanted a simple dress with no frills. I walked in during a busy trunk show weekend and worked with Rashia. She picked out dresses from hangers I said no to, but she insisted that I try them on anyways. And I am so thankful that she did! She really understood my style and was able to pick beautiful dresses that my body type would look good in. When I was torn between 3-4 dresses, she quickly figured out my hesitations and likes to eliminate choices down to 2. At which point, she allowed me to come back to try on the dress a few more times before I made my final decision. It was a wonderful experience. People at Mimi's provided me with priceless advice that I couldn't have even thought to ask for. They are truly wonderful at what they do. The alteration was pricey but was worth it as Mimi's is exceptional and full of expert perfectionists. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that most of the dresses that were pulled were much over my budget (which I was naiive and set too low). read more

This was another one of the shops that my sister took my mom and I to. We were able to go through the different sections and select dresses for her to try on. They had a decent selection varying from styles and prices, but what makes the place stand out is the service. The person working with my sister seemed to really know her personality and style from just speaking with her. She also knew how to accessorize and able to provide ideas and suggestions. We also went upstairs for me to try on bridesmaids dresses as well. My only complaint was that generally speaking the prices seemed kind of high. read more

Mimi's is fine...the staff are really friendly and supportive and helped us find dresses that would work for me. They actually ended up picking a really great dress for me that, even after going to Kleinfelds in NYC, I couldn't top. The reviews about their dressing room setup are correct...it's definitely different and maybe a little awkward. I sort of like the privacy of being able to put myself in a dress without having to make small-talk with a stranger in my underwear. I could put the dress on, decide if it was worth showing my friends, and if not save myself the embarrassing conversation about how wrong the dress was. But I know others really hate that setup. They didn't pressure us to buy at all and assumed we'd have to come back to buy. I didn't end up getting my dress from them, so I can't comment on that experience, but just trying them on went well. read more

I had a wonderful experience working with Mimi's bridal and all the staff. The salon itself is very cute and has lots of natural light. They have a well-edited selection of beautiful dresses. When choosing my dress, my consultant pulled a few based off my preferences, but when I wasn't sure, she and I walked around the salon looking at other possibilities. Her feedback was very helpful. She also understood the 'look' I was going for and found the perfect sash and veil to go along with the dress. The appointments for fittings always went beyond expectations. Rasha has such an eye for detail and did such an amazing job with all the alterations. The staff overall were never pushy and were very clear about the upfront and expected costs for alterations. One key thing that I think helped make for a great experience is that no one was ever over-the-top or sounded like a cheerleader. I felt they could sense that my personality was not one to gush or cry about dresses and they made me feel at ease but also keeping low-key during all my appointments. I recently purchased a bridesmaid gown from Mimi's and because I don't live in AA, my mother picked it up for me and when I received the dress and took it to my local tailor, I was told that it was manufactured incorrectly and that the sheer hem on top was 2 inches shorter and uneven compared to the solid hem underneath. I contacted Mimi's and the manager (Rasha?) was extremely rude to me. She told me "there is no way that we would have released the dress in this condition, it is IMPOSSIBLE that we would have missed this" and 10-15 min more of the same. I was really shocked because she was basically telling me I was crazy or that I did something to the dress which I knew to be untrue. The conversation went no where and I felt really insulted so I just gave up and asked my tailer to do the best she could to fix it (which isn't easy because I'm tall so there isn't any extra hem to work with). The charge for alterations $140..... I'm still waiting to speak to the owner, mainly just to tell her how rude her manager is. It goes without saying that I will not recommend this place to any of my friends and family. read more

Mimi's was a wonderful experience for me. I went on an impulse scouting trip with a friend and wound up finding the perfect dress for my wedding. I showed up without an appointment or a call beforehand, on a Saturday no less. The women were all very friendly and courteous. They helped me to quickly realize that the dresses I'd looked at online were more for beach weddings, where as my wedding will have two parts, at the UofM and then on a mountain top cathedral in Italy. Neither were beachwear appropriate. They did have me begin my search by pulling out some dresses that I saw on line. And they did direct me to the sales dresses that were priced at a heavy discount. I felt that by letting me pick out a few, they could see the colors and general style I might like. As I tried on each new dress they brought to me, I felt closer to the right one in terms of color and shape and elegance. When I got sticker shock from checking out the price on the dress I chose, they encouraged me that they would work with me, and they really did. I saved 60% in the end, and was still within my set budget and only a bit more than those beach dresses. I bought an Atelier Aimee dress that will make my day perfect. read more

The sales associates are incredibly rude and pushy. I showed the woman helping me a picture of me in a wedding dress that was currently my favorite. I did this because I hoped that she would see what I liked and try to pull something I liked even more. When I told her I wasn't sure if I liked the dresses she pulled for me more than the dress that I showed her a picture of, she told me that that dress made me look very fat, and it would only make me look more and more fat throughout my reception as I ate and drank. I am a size 4 and could not believe that she would have the audacity to call me fat. Any interest I had in the dresses she showed me were instantly shattered. How is calling someone fat a good sales pitch?! This was absolutely, hands down, the worst bridal boutique that I went to. read more

I was not impressed by Mimi's collection. But to be fair, I was not impressed by the content of any boutique I've visited. I ended up having my dress custom made. (Yes, I am very aware of how snooty the last 3 sentences made me sound.) Actually, I came to Mimi's after my wedding dress was well into production. So why did I come to Mimi's at all? I was looking for a reception dress. No, I unfortunately did not find it here. BUT I had a great experience nonetheless! I made an appointment by phone and was able to be seen that same day. I was greeted happily by a lady who I assume is the owner. She showed me different gowns, none of which excited me. But what I liked is that she was able to read it in my face that I didn't love what she was showing me. She proceeded to ask me if I had pictures of what I liked, and if I had pictures of my wedding dress. She soon figured out that she doesn't have what I'm looking for, and she politely told me so. She wished me luck, and offered to help with my bridesmaids' dresses if I was interested. Simply put, she was tactful in showing me what she had to offer, and when she saw that she couldn't help me, she didn't waste my time, get defensive, or push anything on me. Sounds like common sense customer service, but doesn't seem like every boutique gets it. Anyway, I'd recommend anyone to check out the store. After trying a different store for dresses earlier in the day. My mother and future mother inlaw stopped in at Mimi's. we were excited they were open- and they could take walk ins. The store itself is very inviting. A great selection of dresses in the window. The first sales girl approached and told us to pick what we liked so we could have a fitting. She then looked me up and down and told us- you know most of our dresses are just an 8... And the sizes are small..(I'm in a 14-16). I told her we'd still like to have a look- but was disappointed a store would lack sizes for anyone with curves. As we looked, the girl kept asking what I like- so I pulled out some photos of me in dresses I had tried on, showing what I did / didn't like in detail. She then rudely stated, well these are Maggie Sottero dresses We don't carry those. The other sales girl was listening to what I liked- then turned around and pulled the ugliest dress, so far from what I described, highlighting all the things I did not want. I told her no, not at all- and she tried to argue with me that I would love it. So I showed her a photo of me in a dress of similar style- and said no, I hate it. We then looked through the dresses... (The moms and I)... They do have some beautiful dresses.... But not fun looking when you are being watched like a hawk. We pulled a few dresses that were 'larger in size' (which is a small 10 in their world). I then squeezed my curvy self into a few of the dresses. - I will say, the fitting room assistant was very professional- but still was trying to talk me into a style I didn't love, and a style that is NOT for my body type. My mom wanted to take a few pictures... But was told that was not allowed. (Seriously?) I was then told by the sales girl that I should order a dress in my size so I can see how it fits, I'd love it when I saw it. But... I'd gave a non refundable dress if I hated it.... Oh, what to do? Leave. That's what. Pretty much, if you want someone to examine you up and down, make you feel like you aren't good enough to be a bride... make you feel like filling out a shirt is a curse, have them be snotty and rush / pressure you into buying a dress just so you leave... Then by all means, shop here. If you would rather a personalized, exciting experience... Elsewhere is where you need to look. ** I should also add... Both the mom's were asking questions and making comments about cut / style... They know what they are talking about (seamstresses usually do)... It was making me mad to hear the sales girl interrupt just to try and correct them on everything that didn't need correcting. So glad we left with our money in our pockets. She told me there was no reason to be stressed about my dress, which had not yet arrived the month of my wedding. She was very agitated while explaining that her dresses are always on time. She proceeded to "console" me with a story about her client whose dress arrived a day before the wedding with rush alterations. -Not a scenario I'd want to replicate. Needless to say that did not make me feel better. I went here to look for my wedding dress and my appointment started off really well. I tried on a lot of dresses that i liked and my consultant was very helpful. This was the first store I looked at for my wedding dress and I wasn't completely blown away by any of the dresses I tried on so I wanted to continue my search. So at the end of my appointment I started to get pressured into buying a dress and I told her I needed to think about it so she said to go think about it then come back. So I ended up not coming back, because I was planning on looking at other stores. I ended up getting 3 phone calls within the next 2 days from them asking why I never came back and they wanted to know if I was still interested.... I never called them back, thinking they would take the hint, then I got more phone calls and messages for the following 3 weeks!!!!! It was crazy! I shopped here for my wedding dress and out of all of the places I went, the service here really turned me off. I was rushed through my appointment by Mimi--I barely spent 3 minutes in any gown before she would push me into trying on the next one. She helped me into gowns, but was pretty hands-off when it came to fitting, clipping, and making them look presentable before I showed my family. She offered very little knowledge or commentary about any of the gowns I was interested in. She eventually kicked me out of the dressing room and said the appointment had to be over because other people needed the room...but I didn't see anyone coming in after me. The dressing room space is pretty cramped and not very comfortable for those who are shopping with you, and the dressing rooms are pretty tiny. The bridesmaids section upstairs is kind of crappy-looking and we had very little help up there too. I give it two stars because they carry some great designers and have a nice selection, but after how my appointment went, I can't imagine actually buying something there!! read more

Let me start off by saying I was the mother of the bride and was there for the fitting and alterations on my daughters wedding dress.... she purchased out of state and brought to Mimi's for alterations. Right from the start I knew this was going to be a great experience all around. I found everyone there extremely professional. Very patient & kind. A talented group of women who know what their doing and fun! When the dress was done, alterations completed I was stunned by how gorgeous it looked. Now we needed a veil ....very long with a little sparkle in the exact color of the dress! Not a problem they had what my daughter was looking for! I wanted to say also there was a bit of a time crunch on this alteration. I couldn't have been happier with how it all turned out. Mimi's is exactly what you picture when you think about trying on wedding attire; a large, Victorian-esque desk greets you at the front door, the walls are lined with shiny white dresses of all different styles, mirrors and nice carpets insulate the rooms, and upstairs is a kaleidoscope of chiffon, silk and taffeta 'maids dresses. The selection of bridal gowns is mostly moderate designers, Melissa Sweet, Nicole Miller and Justin Alexander, but they have some higher end bridesmaid dresses like Vera Wang, for example. The dresses range from pretty typical, i.e. strapless, beaded, to more unique styles with cute capped sleeves, asymmetrical or off the shoulder. They also have nice accessories like shoes, veils and headpieces. My mom and I were the only customers in the store on a Thursday afternoon in the summer, and the staff was friendly; they basically did nothing but wait on us while we were there. They demonstrated some hems and let me wear a pair of shoes so I could get an idea of my height in the dresses. They were very complimentary of the gowns I tried on and conversed easily with my mom and I for probably an hour. I would say the only down sides to Mimi's are it's difficulty to find (the store is in a strange strip mall right off of the freeway, look for a big scuba diving flag next door) and it's no photo policy (just take them quietly in the dressing room and they'll never know). read more

Mimi's has been an absolute pleasure to work with. I fell in love with a Hayley Paige dress online and chose to go to Mimi's because they carried it in the store. When I went in a couple weeks before the Hayley Paige trunk show, they were very helpful with trying on gowns and when I had my "this is my dress moment" they gave me the trunk show prices... including a discount on my vail. I am a bit on the taller side so they gave me advice on shoe height to ensure I wouldn't need hemming with my alterations. Alterations have been great as well and they have been about to work easily around my complicated work schedule. Rasha showed and explained everything as I went through the process. In the end I have ended up with an absolutely beautifully fitting gown and have Mimi's to thank. I will definitely be recommending them to all my engaged friends! read more

I was about 10 min late for my appointment (yay Ann arbor rush hour) and the first thing the woman said was "you're late. I thought you weren't coming. Now you only have 45 minutes". I was the only one in the store but figured maybe I was the last appointment of the day so I tried to rush through selecting and trying on dresses. She was very dubious about my budget (which is admittedly small) and showed me dresses that were well over double my budget. She wouldn't let me take pictures and tried to bully me in to purchasing a dress I wasn't crazy about by giving me ten percent off (which still kept it hundreds over my budget). I felt like I had to fight my way out without buying and felt crappy the whole visit. I got a call 4 months after my visit to ask if I was planning on buying the dress. The women in the store were awesome-they picked out great options for her and made us both feel completely comfortable. We ended up picking a dress the saleswoman picked out in a color my mom would have never picked but it looked beautiful on her. The alterations woman gave us exact prices and gave my mom multiple options for a shawl/cover up option. The prices were a little high but when you know they really care and they won't screw up your order or dress then it's worth it. I've only been in 2 bridal salons but that was all it took for me to realize that Mimi's was definitely my bridal salon of choice! The women have been nothing short of accommodating. Considering I have a toddler, I needed to feel accepted and welcomed when it came time to shop for a wedding dress with a little girl in tow and Mimi's still provides the ultimate bridal experience. I can speak volumes of the knowledge these women possess when it comes to wedding detail & style. Rasha is phenomenal and I wish I could have her assisting with the styling of my whole wedding! I called that morning and made an appointment for the afternoon. The lady on the phone was pleasant and very accommodating so I had high hopes for the appointment. I arrived to the lovely boutique and was greeted very warmly by consultant Beth. First impressions this boutique is absolutely lovely hardwood floors, sparkly chandeliers, and very friendly sales consultants. I can certainly say of the 5 or 6 shops I visited in the area this one by far exceeded my expectations. I will not bash the other locations but I will say this for sure if you visit this boutique shopping anywhere else will feel subpar. My appointment with Beth was everything a dress buying experience should be. The dresses were expertly selected and each one looked better than the before. She was super helpful and the whole experience was so pleasant and stress free. I had been to many bridal shops and was feeling a little discouraged. I have never had a weight problem but now I'm getting married when I want to look my best but can't seem to loose the extra 25 lbs that found me. There is a sales woman at mimi's that was just so helpful and kind, Her goal was to make me feel good and happy with myself in a beautiful dress. She did it!
