Ordered one of their breakfast burritos and the tres leeches pancakes. The server maria was kind and attentive. The burrito tasted good. The potatoes potatoes were not bad although overly seasoned. Still tasty enough. Issue is the pancakes didn't taste like tres leches at all there wasn't nearly any tres leches cream on it. The pancakes tasted just like ihops pancakes, which isn't bad if I wanted those. To Maria's credit, she didn't charge me for it. The price is not cheap but not expensive in my opinion. So overall the experience was fair and Maria did a nice job helping rectify the issue which is appreciated. I've been to Mimi's Cafe a few times now, probably two or three visits, and overall I've had a pretty good experience each time. Came in recently to celebrate a girlfriend's birthday with a quick breakfast, and it was a nice, easy spot for that. The place seemed clean, service was good, and our food came out in a timely manner, which I always appreciate. For what you get, the portions and overall experience are solid. The breakfast was actually pretty delicious. I wouldn't say anything has ever wowed me, but I've also never had a bad experience here, which says a lot. I tried the chilaquiles for the first time and they just weren't my favorite. The sauce didn't really come together for me, but I still ate some of it. We were the only ones outside because of the record heat that was happening that day but it was 8:45am and in the shade the weather was nice. I really enjoyed that they had an extensive menu and at first felt a bit overwhelmed. Suffice it to say I'm glad I decided on the chorizo omelet which was fantastic and really appreciated that the meal came with a muffin that they seemed to have a bountiful amount of flavors to choose from. This place needs a whole new renovation and perhaps it would be packed on a Sunday like it used to be. It smells like sewer water inside just like the water they serve! Since my brother was a comic book enthusiast, we honored him with a Superhero theme. Julio the manager was very accommodating to ensure our event went very smoothly. This place holds a special place in my heart. My mother's favorite restaurant has always been Mimi's. When a women I connected with on a dating site suggested that we meet at this restaurant I felt that my mother in heaven was looking over me. On our first meeting at this restaurant we were seated in a booth. We talked for almost 4 hours and the staff never put any pressure on us to leave. We came in between lunch and dinner rushes, so many booths were open, so I was grateful they allowed us to get to know about each other for a long time. The food was just as great as the service, and the ambiance allowed us to enjoy a great talk without shouting. For my our six month anniversary, we came back here after church services. To our amazement, without them knowing, they sat us in the same booth we shared on our first meeting. We kept the conversation a bit more brief this time as the Sunday crowd was present. I took my family to Mimi's Cafe on Mother's Day hoping for a special meal, but the experience was very disappointing. Despite knowing Mother's Day is busy, the poor service we received had nothing to do with how crowded the restaurant was. Our server only had a couple of tables yet still seemed disengaged and uninterested in her job. She never told us about the blackboard specials, didn't check on us, and never refilled our drinks. Some of our orders came out incorrect, and the kids' plate was brought out last, which made it hard for our family to enjoy the meal together. For the nearly 200 dollars we spent, this felt like a complete waste of money on what was supposed to be a special occasion. On top of that, this location has really gone down in both quality and service compared to past visits, which makes the experience even more frustrating. I understand that holidays can be challenging for restaurants, but basic communication and attentiveness were missing during our visit. I haven't been to Mimi's in many years, and always loved their French onion soup and their bread basket with the zucchini bread. We were in the area running errands and decided to take my kids here for lunch. Well...now the bread basket is only offered during dinner (by request during lunch) and only has slices of french bread. The server said he's never seen zucchini bread offered and he's been working there almost 4 years. Speaking of server, he was great, and very attentive. I got my usual favorite - the tuna melt. My sons got the kids cheeseburger with fries (comes with a little "dirt in a cup" dessert), breakfast burrito, and pot roast as part of the $30 special which includes appetizer, entree, and dessert. We decided to add a spinach artichoke dip & bread appetizer for an additional $10. Prices of the menu items are a lot higher than I remember, so this $30 special is a great deal. Most of the food was good, my son didn't like his breakfast burrito that much though. And the spinach artichoke dips tasted like it was microwaved straight from the freezer - watery and tasteless. We shared the Butter Toffee Cake for dessert, and we all LOVED it! My middle son said he would come back just to eat that. Our server asked if we wanted any baked goods to go and I purchased a 4 pack of muffins for less than $14 - buttermilk spice, blueberry crumble, pumpkin spice, and chocolate chip. These are amazing, pick them up and enjoy them the next day for breakfast! Still sad that they no longer have the zucchini bread, but their french onion soup is still great! read more
