My family was so excited to come here because it is nostalgic to us. We planned ahead of time and made reservations. We checked in around 12:49 and was immediately told that it would be a 45 minute wait. We waited until 1:30 and still had no status on when we would be seated. The front individuals kept blaming technology. Names were written down but I think reservations and walk-ins were combined, let alone other parties were deemed "taking too long". Many parties unfortunately were waiting in the heat. It was shocking to get this type of poor preparation, let alone for Mother's Day. To help ensure we get to celebrate Mother's Day we had to leave. read more

I ordered half of chicken for $22 and it was all bone and skin a little bit of meat. I do not recommend it. I ordered green beans and they were hard. Be specific on how you want your food. I took my family to Mimi's Cafe on Mother's Day hoping for a special meal, but the experience was very disappointing. Despite knowing Mother's Day is busy, the poor service we received had nothing to do with how crowded the restaurant was. Our server only had a couple of tables yet still seemed disengaged and uninterested in her job. She never told us about the blackboard specials, didn't check on us, and never refilled our drinks. Some of our orders came out incorrect, and the kids' plate was brought out last, which made it hard for our family to enjoy the meal together. For the nearly 200 dollars we spent, this felt like a complete waste of money on what was supposed to be a special occasion. On top of that, this location has really gone down in both quality and service compared to past visits, which makes the experience even more frustrating. I understand that holidays can be challenging for restaurants, but basic communication and attentiveness were missing during our visit. Only thing that went well was my reservation made it so I didn't have to wait 2 hours or whatever their wait was. read more

Came here for a relaxing weekday brunch. No wait and our server Jori was kind and welcoming. We got the seasonal chilaquiles and quiche lorraine from the regular menu. I have gotten the quiche lorraine before and it was great, but today it tasted more like a reheated quiche from frozen. Luckily the chilaquiles were delicious, and my boyfriend didn't mind the quiche. Besides that, it was an overall nice brunch. read more

Ordered the three course meal for lunch to share and everything was very tasty. We opened with french onion soup, which had a nice rich onion and beef flavor. For the entree, we had the Turkey which comes with a cornbread stuffing and two sides. The turkey was very juicy and tender and paired well with the gravy. Also fairly enjoyed my sides of mashed potatoes and green beans, all seasoned well. For dessert, we were so full that we took the toffee cake to go, which was very delicious. Our server was attentive and helped us with any questions. The restaurant is very well maintained and spacious. Definitely will be back with friends! read more

Here for coffee and breakfast after a fasting blood test. Service was fast this morning and I was seated and had a cup of coffee in less than 5 minutes. They have a seasonal menu with several peach specials so I had to order the Grilled Peach French toast combo. The combo comes with eggs and bacon which were done perfectly. Sunny side eggs with solid whites and runny yokes, plus crisp bacon. The French toast is as done well with warm peach slices, brown sugar, and whipped cream. Just a little disappointed with the peaches/. Good quantity but not quite caramelized, and probably a little too late in the season. Still, I would order it again. Always love the decor and device at Mimi's during breakfast my coffee cup never went dry. read more

It's been awhile since my last visit to a MiMi's and apparently some things have changed. An old favorite of mine was the egg white veggie omelet, but today it resembled a failed attempt at a fritta. Your favorite Yelp correspondent and Mimi (of Mimi's Cafe) have enjoyed a long, lovely Parisian affair dating back to when I first discovered it in the early 90s. Fact: I may have once decorated my kitchen utilizing many of the French countryside concepts that Mimi's emblazoned. In the area, I dropped in for lunch yesterday. My server was Brianna, and she was nonpareil- Greeted me with a smile at every interaction, anticipated my need for frequent Diet Coke refills and a delight to be served by. Absolutely zero favoritism displayed just because she shares my beloved daughter's name. Wink. Pro Tip: If you're ever uncertain of what to order from Mimi's, and perhaps the heavier fare of Pot Roast Dinner or Tuscan Style Grilled Chicken doesn't strike your fancy, you absolutely cannot go wrong with the FRENCH QUARTER BURGER. Ditto for the world-class French Onion Soup, available both as a side (in a cup) and in a heaping bowl. The French Quarter Burger has been a go-to staple of mine at Mimi's for 35yrs. Thick, glassy ground beef encased within layers of melted gruyere cheese, crisp bacon, red onions, cold tomato/lettuce, creamy avocado and HALLMARK grilled garlic-parmesan sourdough bread! It's a revelation, as far as burgers go. And so filling I'd dare (professional eating champ) JOEY CHESTNUT to finish a whole burger at one sitting! The fries are reminiscent of the fries served by Smash Burger, unctuous and drizzled with shaved chives. Pro Tip #2: Mimi's is famous for her bread pudding!! Scratch-made, featuring whiskey sauce, raisins and freshly whipped cream. My late mother, may she continue resting in Paradise, ordered TWO bread puddings as her final sit-down restaurant meal, in the summer of 1997. Alas, feeling nearly stuffed following my French Quarter but craving a lighter dessert than Bread Pudding, I ordered their Muffin Sundae. You pinpoint any of their four in-house baked muffins (blueberry crumble, buttermilk spice, honey bran or carrot nut) and they'll serve it a la mode with drizzled caramel. I selected the latter and it was divine. Yelpers- You'll note today's review highlights a couple of items (the decadent, velvety French Onion Soup and their Bread Pudding) that I did not order, today. Trust this Yelp Elite Correspondent when I write, er, rave about both!! As I've had both dozens of prior visits. Why not 5 stars, you ask?! Because my fries arrived slightly lukewarm (I'm a stickler for hot fries!) and because Mimi's starter bowl of bread arrived with only French bread in it. Have they altered their policy amd no longer bring their delish carrot-nut Madeleines tableside?! L'horreur! The men's room was decently clean and stocked. In conclusion, I'd accord server Brianna 5 stars for service, the restaurant 4 stars for food/cleanliness and ambiance. Go, start your own Parisian affair with Mimi. You'll find her quite enchanting. read more

Fast service. Delicious food and the people are very attentive. I like to go to a restaurant and feel recognized. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. Thankfully it was not too full. Beautiful setting, as most of Mimi's are. Jori was our server and just like that she greeted us and asked us for our drink order. She was patient as my daughter was back and forth about our coffee. She helped us with our choice of meal as well. We asked her what is her recommendation of savory but me personally, I LOVE sweet. We got the steak Benedict with a side of pancakes. Cinnamon roll toast with eggs, turkey sausage and potatoes. And my son opted for a big juicy burger. Literally looked like it did in the menu. All of it was delicious and Jori made it just perfect with her positive attitude and attentiveness. I was very happy we chose to eat here for brunch. Will definitely be going back soon. We arrived around 10:10; they took everyone except us, a party of 10 plus 3 children. One hour passed. We asked how much longer we had to wait, and they said 10-15 more minutes. They were trying to make room for another table. Not to mention, they were taking everyone except us. I don't know what the problem was; we drove from Whittier and Riverside thinking that was a good spot to celebrate our younger father's. We finally got a seat around 11:30. The service at Mimi's is exceptional and the environment is calm and relaxed. The waitresses still hustle but they definitely don't make the service feel rushed. On our last visit, the Dubai chocolate pancakes were absolutely amazing! The portions were generous and with the chocolate factor being more than any expectations, I was able to enjoy them as leftovers. Grab some before they leave the menu, as they're a seasonal item. We had lunch at Mimi's today and it was terrible. We had the quiche lunch special. When we got it, it was sunken in the middle and about 1/4" high. It had absolutely no taste. The crust was soft and moist where it moved around like rubber. It did not have the consistency of a pie or quiche crust. It was horrible. The plate had little fried potato pieces on the plate that were dry and also tasteless. The service was also not good. We were there for over an hour and our empty glasses were never refilled. We will never eat here again. We had the same sort of experience two other times and this was the third. This was no coincidence or a bad day. There were barely any patrons in the restaurant and we got there at noon. We will never go to this Mimi's again. Three strikes and you're out! read more

Their front of house focus is the wine bar, but they also have a good cocktail and martini menu, as well as a nice selection of food items. The interior is warm and cozy with two different seating areas. The larger front area has bar seating, quite a few tables, and a lounge area in the back corner with several couches. There is another area in the back which is smaller, and houses their cocktail bar and a number of two seat high top tables. You can order anything on the menu from either area. We sat at the bar in front for some Sunday evening cocktails and small bites. We started out with the spinach & artichoke dip ($15). The dip came out very hot, was a big portion, and was very good. However, the menu said it came with toast points, but instead it was served with tortilla chips which were just ok. The advertised toast points or fresher tortilla chips would have made this appetizer better. My first cocktail was the Limoncello Martini (vodka, fresh Limoncello, lemon juice, $15). I usually love anything lemon and this was a good martini with light lemon flavor. She started with the Purple Martin Martini (vodka, raspberry puree, pineapple, $15). This was another good martini with light sweetness from the raspberry and pineapple, not a sugar bomb. We wanted a little more food, so we ordered the Caprese flatbread ($18). It was a good size, and the dough was great. It had a good amount of cheese and tomatoes, and I really liked the balsamic drizzle on top. However, it did not come with the basil that was listed on the menu. Next, I tried the Peperoncino Martini (vodka, Italian Peperoncino brine, black pepper, extra virgin olive oil, $15). I loved this, one of the more unique martinis I've had. She liked her sip so much, she ordered her own for number three. Her second cocktail was the Carmel Apple Martini (carmel apple vodka, Licor 43, lemon, star anise, caramel cube garnish, $15). Most of the time, you would expect a caramel apple martini to be a sugar bomb, but not this one. The flavors were great with a light sweetness. And who doesn't like a caramel square treat? For my last one, I had the Cinnamon Sleigh (bourbon, cinnamon spice, maple, orange twist, $15). This was a good sipping finisher with light cinnamon notes and those great orange aromatics. KJ was our server, and she was very sweet and friendly. We came early in the evening and it was a little slow, so we chatting with her quite a bit. I'd take a half point off for the two food items not coming with the listed items, but rounded up to five stars overall. The bill had a 3% charge added for using a credit card. They have a music trivia night on Thursdays which would be fun to try. We enjoyed our first visit here, and will definitely return again.

We had such a wonderful experience at Mimi's Cafe! From the moment we walked in, we were seated incredibly quickly, which was especially appreciated since I was dining with my 3-month-old baby. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable right away. Our drinks arrived almost immediately after we were seated, and the service throughout the entire meal was impressively fast without ever feeling rushed. The food was absolutely delicious--everything came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The portions were also very generous, making the meal feel like an excellent value. A special thank you to our server, Nancy, who was beyond helpful. She was attentive, friendly, and consistently one step ahead of anything we needed. Her service was much quicker than we expected, and she truly helped make our visit enjoyable and stress-free. What stood out most was how accommodating everyone was toward both me and my baby. The food here is always ok. It takes too long to get, that is, if you get service. I have tried out this particular store more times than i should because my best friend loves the food. But this time when we came we waited for more than 5 minutes to be greeted by our server. Then another 10 minutes before she came back for our order. She must have been in the back doing SOMETHING but she wasn't on the floor serving people. The time before that we were greeted and then had our order taken right away but someone else delivered our food and then no one ever came back to help us. We ended up asking the host for help. Before that... the same thing... before that just the slowest kitchen service while the server kept coming back saying, "I just checked on it." You can only check so many times! There is a trend here. I just can't go back again. If you go and you have bad service, tell the management immediately so they can talk to their staff about this problem. read more

My server when I came to visit was Nancy. She provided me with an amazing first time experience. Nancy always had a great smile on her face and made me feel very welcome. She gave me detailed explanations of the dishes I had questions on, which I very much appreciated. Nancy gave me the best service and was always attentive towards me. I'm a really big fan of Mimi's Cafe. While their prices are very good, their food is even better. The food is always fresh and the portions are pretty good. They have really good fresh orange juice, and amazing muffins. I usually get french toast or pancakes, which are both great options for those not sure on what to get. Mimi's does get very busy on the weekend mornings, but can be avoided if you go early enough. I would go there all the time for breakfast, but nothing else. I have also eaten here for lunch and dinner and I don't recommend it. The food was really greasy and just didn't taste nearly as fresh as their breakfast does. The staff is great, the value is good, and the food is great! Wanted to give 5 stars, but forgot about the not so good lunch and dinner. read more

Friday morning about 11 -- thought it would be more quiet and genteel, but with a raucous party of 5 next to the two of us, there was no peace. There wasn't another table for 2 in the entire section, unfortunately. Had the Eggs Benedict (a tradition for me at Mimi's) and specified that I didn't want any 'gushiness' to the whites. So when it was put on the table, the entire top of the eggs looked like they were jello. I sent it back, and by the time I was served, my partner was finished. He had the Pain Perdue and wasn't happy with the small portion for a breakfast that costs $8.99. The other Mimi's I usually go to (Huntington Dr in Monrovia and Imperial Hwy in Yorba Linda) both have superior food. The service at all Mimi's is uniformly excellent. read more

We had such a wonderful experience at Mimi's Cafe today! Their special holiday share menu was an amazing deal -- three delicious courses for only $36. Everything tasted fresh, comforting, and beautifully prepared. We loved the fresh pot roast and salmon entrées, and the starters were perfect, especially the petite salad and petite Caesar salad. The desserts were such a sweet touch too -- the chocolate-covered strawberries were absolutely delicious, and the famous Mimi muffins made the meal feel extra special. Bernadette needs to do better as a waitress. I just left mimis on an empty stomach. This was the worst eating out experience I've ever had ! I ordered two jambalayas with rice I sat there for 30-40 minutes before they came out and told me there was no rice..... supper upsetting now I gotta go to work on an empty stomach. When I tried explaining my frustration to Bernadette she gave me an attitude and a nasty face . She said well you didn't eat but your kids ate like really that was super disrespectful management needs to talk to her sincerely. I feel that lately the majority of restaurants have been lacking quality service because of the pandemic, however, our server Jackie really went above and beyond for us. We've been coming to Mimi's for over 45+ years. This is our local hometown one. The service, hours and food are always great. During the shutdown we missed going out to breakfast or meeting family for special occasions, so I'm glad they are back and seem to be getting much busier more recently. Yesterday afternoon my husband and I decided to have a quick lunch before heading back to work and I have to say that I am more than impressed! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming as well as quick and efficient. Being as that my husband and I were on a limited time constraint, it was such a relief to have such quick service without sacrifice the quality. My daughter and I have been coming to this location for a while. I was very disappointed when I ordered a $15 pot roast dinner and it was a plate of gravy soup with potatoes and very little pot roast and slivers of carrots. When the manager brought it back to the table after adding more meat(still no vegetables) it was microwaved and came out steaming hot. When I first received the dish it was not steaming hot. Very poor quality. I called the corporate office and they said I should have received whole carrots onion and celery in a small amount of gravy with a large portion of pot roast. Me and my family have been coming to mimis for many years. We love this place so much. My grandparents love to come with us after church and eat Muffins and drink coffee. Today we decided to come and we had to honor to have Isabella be our waitress. She was super sweet and nice always checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. It is only her 2nd week and she's doing amazing. Her makeup was also flawless it looked sp pretty and she was amazing at it. 100% recommend this place. The 4 bartenders just hanging out and not working shouldn't even have come to work that day considering they weren't working at all.
