They served dinner and all the food except the turkey tasted like vomited baby food. The butter was actually margarine which tasted terrible! The waiter slopped all the cold food on our table all at once and then served the toasted COLD bread LAST! Even the waiter was AWFUL! He needs to go back to McDonald's as a cashier. I had an absolutely fantastic dining experience, thanks in large part to our amazing server, Roger! From start to finish, Roger went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable meal. I ordered the pot roast and French onion soup, and both dishes were incredible--comfort food at its finest. The pot roast was tender and flavorful, and the French onion soup was perfectly rich with just the right amount of cheesy goodness. Roger recommended them, and I'm so glad I followed his suggestion! What really stood out, though, was Roger's exceptional service. He was attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly. Sigh. I have really given Mimis more than enough chances. I really do love that French Onion Soup! Unfortunately their lack of quality control from the kitchen and poor response from the management has made me not want to go there anymore. The last 6 times that I have gone there has been something grossly wrong with my food. One time the soup was still frozen in the middle. Another time the bread was frozen. If we request something on the side, it still comes on the meal. If we request no onions, they are still on there. Several times the server has brought out food that was obviously wrong and then scurried away before we could ask for it to be corrected. One time the manager happened to walk by (when my soup was a large frozen chunk in the middle). I told the manager what was wrong and she told me that I must have let it sit too long before eating it. We're done. read more

Went here for breakfast on my girlfriend's last day of her visit from Japan. Her avocado omelette was good. Potatoes were good. Coffee was good. So what's the problem then you ask... :) I ordered a pancake plate. Problems: Order was missed in kitchen, when I finally got them (finally cause I kept hearing the waitress keep asking for them about 7-10 times) they were not cooked! I can perhaps understand burnt pancakes, but uncooked? I'd hate to try any of their poultry considering pancakes are pretty easy to make. Worst part was, waitress still asked if they should remove the charge from our bill? Really? Talk about not caring about your consumers. Then they had the audacity to ask us to visit... that said, I'll visit again once I get over this nightmare (usually takes about 6 months). read more

My daughter and I went for breakfast this morning to Mimi's Cafe in Fountain Valley. It was delicious. I had brioche with strawberries and blueberries on top. My daughter had a veggie omelette. The service was excellent. Our server was Carrie. We talked about how crowded Mimi's used to be and discussed some of the menu items they used to have. We suggested that they try to bring back some of those items so that people would want to come back again. There were not very many people in the restaurant at the time that we were there. I like that atmosphere here at Mimi's and the French and Louisiana style decor. The food is also really quite good although very very heavy and you leave with that uncomfortable bloated feeling. I get the same thing from most Italian and Indian restauraunts. I never get that feeling at say a Thai or vietnamese restaurant. I love the muffins they serve at Mimi's and it seems like most of the meals I've ever ordered here come with a muffin for whatever reason. Not really encouraging, plus the dining room to the left of the lobby is depressing looking. Loved going to Mimi's in former years, but this once good chain-restaurant has gone downhill; maybe it's just the Irvine location that isn't working out? Nice place to have a quite meal. I usually go late and the service is great. If you ask for extra bread, they usually bring you more. I had the chicken crepes last time and they were good. In my opinion it needed a little more flavor. The creme brulee cheese cake was not bad (after I took of the "creme brulee crust on top of it - it was just to hard). This is our weekend breakfast place. The coffee is amazing so is their breakfast. The service is good. There hasnt been a weekend that isnt crazy full. Its crowded most of the time and takes around10-15 min maximum to get a table on weekends. But again my husband and I go there usually at around 10-30ish to 11ish. I LOVE this cafe especially for brunch. You don't need to make reservations unless it's for a big party. Usually, the wait is around 5-15 mins. The food is great. Their omelets are great (all of them). It comes with potatoes not hash brown. They offer blueberry muffins straight out of the oven (still hot) as a side choice. Make sure to get it. Friendly staff but the food was not good. My chicken was undercooked and two people I was with their fish was not cooked. We had to have them remake it and when it came back it was dry and gross. I had pretty much already lost my appetite by this time because I bit into pretty much raw chicken . The staff was nice enough, but food not so good. read more
