I grew up in Irvine, so it's always a little nostalgic coming back and seeing the places that are still around from my childhood. So many have disappeared over the years, which makes me especially happy that Togo's is still going strong in Heritage Plaza! I was recently in Irvine and stopped by for a sandwich, and everything was just how I remembered it. There's something so comforting about coming back to a longtime favorite and having it still feel the same. The employees were also very nice and welcoming. If you haven't tried the Italian, I highly recommend it, delicious! I hope this Togo's stays in Heritage Plaza for many more years. I tried their new ranch chicken salad today. It was delicious! Seriously, it had a hefty amount of diced chicken that went well with various veggies, cheddar cheese, bacon, guacamole combined with a tasty ranch dressing. I used to love togos when i lived in norcal. Havent had it in a long time so decided to try this location. Very dissapointed. The service was okay. The server was friendly and prompt. I got their turkey sandwich on a white bread. The ingredients were standard, but the bread was so stale. It smelled like old bread. The same smell and taste when bread is a few days old. We went there at 7pm on a weekday. Possibly the reason the bread was stale. But it was a huge disappointment. Will not be going again. Walked in to see employee on her cell phone looking at the screen . She then proceeds to put gloves on and ask me what I would like. Did not bother to wash her hands. I waited for another employee to make my sandwich. I definitely was underwhelmed. The ingredients are so below average the lettuce was so soggy and wilted and the overall taste of the sandwich was worse than subway . I've been consistently going to this Togo's for over 5 years, as I office nearby. I've had just about everything on the menu. And I must say...this place is great! There's something for everyone as they have a variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, wraps and more. The lunch staff of Feliberto and Tina Marie Lilly Christina is wonderful (she probably has even more names, but these are just a few I know of!). So disappointed! My kids have literally grown up eating at this store. They both went to Irvine HS and would go for lunch The employees even ask my son where he has been if he hasn't been in awhile. He is now 32! Thats how long we have eaten here Guess what? After what the owner did tonight, we will not go back! My son is VERY curteous about when businesses close, so tonight at 7:46pm, he called as he was on his way to order 2 COLD cut sandwiches to go. This person actually told him NO! WTF? You have posted store hours that CLEARLY state you close at 8pm. You had plenty of time to throw some cold cuts on some bread before you shut your doors. Unacceptable business practices. He was not asking for a catering order, or even hot, complicated sandwiches. To be honest, you're pretty lucky to even still be in business in Irvine. TOGOs FTW! First off, why don't we have enough of these in our area?!! No offense, Jersey Mikes and Subway but we need more ToGos!! ToGos has more options and tastes so much fresher! Not to mention they have my favorite bread: Squaw! Since this location is closer to my sisters house, she usually brings for us on her way to our house LOL! I do wish they were open a little later! My only gripe is that sometimes the soup is a hit or miss. Meaning they don't always offer it in the winter. Or the flavors aren't posted online, only the broccoli and cheddar soup. I love how the options of cheeses, some places its limited just like their breads. My newest discovery is their Farmers salad, its delish! I've been going to TOGO's for years. The experience: 1. Similar to every other corporate sandwich spot. 2. Service is about what you'd expect. I had no complaints just having been there. 3. The location is clean, well taken care of. However there are very little tables so keep that in mind. 4. PRICING: I think every corporate spot like these all boils down to price. The price is HORRENDOUS. $9.99 for a basic 6' sub is insane. For two sandwiches it was $21.00 for two 6' subs. Yeah on principle I won't be returning. overall: still a decent spot only if you have a coupon or going for nostalgia. read more

I usually write constructive reviews and or reviews that move me for good service or when I'm upset over bad service. Well today was very upsetting. I know what I like and I like my sandwiches with all the fixings. I usually have no problems elsewhere getting my order done right. Well not today. The girl server making the sandwich tells me it would make my sandwich too full to add tomatoes, lettuce, onions, pickles and peppercinis. Ok, so please put them on the side. Oh, we don't have containers. Really? Ok then just make me the reubens pastrami the way you normally make it and I'll call it a day. I'm just too tired and too impatient today for your nonsense. The store did not have any customers besides me so, no, they were not too swamped to serve this customer. AND, both she and her coworker proceeded to continue speaking in Spanish. Not acceptable. No, I'm not happy with your service. I took a picture of the sandwich and it looks very boring without my fixings request. I hope it at least tastes better than it looks. I love their sandwiches and salads. This Togo's is by far the best one. Togos never disappoints. That hot pastrami is so amazing, you'll find an extra stomach just to get a second one. The bread was fresh and soft, the pastrami was juicy and flavorful, but not overly salty. They've got the art of sandwich making perfected! Inside of the place is q but small especially around lunch time for how many people it brings in but the food and staff are great. Always a returning customer with no problems. Like i said the only thing i think thats a slight downside is compared to other places its a bit pricey however for the qauntity and quality of food its worth it. read more

Not to knock this place, it's clean but the bathroom has an out of order sign, so don't expect to use it. There's never anyone in here, and I can tell why. This feels like a mom and pop shop, but unfortunately this is Togo's, a well established restaurant. The girl seems new, but not in a negative way, it seems like she's the daughter of the older guy worker. I didn't hate this place, but it seemed a bit off. The way they make their sandwiches felt too mechanical. I don't feel unsafe eating here, but I'll just say it. Everything was microwaved, this isn't a place with fresh sandwiches. It felt like they didn't expect me to order food, the lady went in the walk in refrigerator and looked lost. This place felt cheap, like I was going to get a deal on a sandwich but it cost about $15 with a drink (and those chips your mom put in your lunch when you were a kid). This didn't feel worth it, it felt like I had a bag of leftovers when I ordered. I'm surprised, because I fucking loved Togo's since I was 12. I've had Togo's for years (since 1998), and it was just disappointing. I hate to say it, but I'm sticking with Subway from now on. They're basically the same price, but quality is way less here. When I order at Subway they have ovens, not microwaves. It felt like I went back in time eating here, everything felt old, the place was small and they closed at 7 PM. People are right about the hours, most of the time there's no customers and they close early. For the record, if it closes at 7 PM (instead of 8 PM) you shouldn't pay the workers the hours listed because that's stupid if it closes early. It sucks that the food here sucks now. read more

Who knew a a roast beef & turkey could go so wrong. Little to no roast beef - the turkey and beef combined didn't go across the bread. It was so soggy from the amount of mayo / mustard - it was coming out of the side when I bit into it when I went to scrap some off I noticed the amount of pickle there were 18 pickles!!! What happened to Togos??? I was craving a sandwich and haven't been here in a while, and when I came in, I was overwhelmed by their new menu. Why so many cheesesteaks?? If I wanted a cheesesteak, I would have gone to Philly's Best. I guess they are trying to keep up with the competition, but most people in line were ordering the classic sandwiches anyway, and I feel like specializing in a few things is much better than spreading yourself out too thin. The workers were all friendly and fast, but there was a lot of confusion with people talking over one another, bickering over something left in the microwave, mistakes in the register, etc. I guess my biggest gripe was that I ordered a side of chicken noodle soup, but there was none ready. So the worker went into the back, brought out a bucket of soup in a plastic bin, ladled some into a smaller plastic bin, and microwaved it--not the best way to prepare in front of a customer. I shouldn't said no thank you after that but was too stunned about the whole experience. Overall, I don't think I'll be back here for a while. I tried giving him my order and was telling him slowly what I wanted because I didn't want to overwhelm him and instead of asking "anything else" or something like that he just stared off into space.
