I probably would have given this cute place 5 stars if I wasnt served a rotten strawberry on top of the side of fruit I ordered. I mean, its on a strawberry farm, so I was a bit surprised and disappointed. Beyond that, this place was awesome. A little hard to find but if you read other reviews you will see its behind the golf store. When we arrived I dont think the entrance into the main building was open, or we just missed it. We walked around the back to the larger door. When you pull up if you walk past all the golf carts and to the right you are good. I ordered a traditional breakfast because I had big lunch plans and didnt want anything super heavy. The bacon that I ordered crispy was perfect. Everyone who got toast, it came out in one basket. When I put the butter on, it didnt melt as the toast wasnt hot but it was still good. The side of fruit was amazing despite my rotten strawberry :) I ordered decaf coffee which was also really good. Service was quick, friendly and good! Found this place last minute for a monthly breakfast get together and I would definitely return! Pricing was also VERY fair! read more

Before playing on the Strawberry Farms' magnificent and challenging golf course, I had lunch with some of my fellow golf hacks. The very large (inside and out) Farmhouse Grill seems to always be very busy, morning or afternoon, and many tables are full. Servers buzzing around with food and drink being rushed to their hungry and thirsty customers. I started at the bar (but of course!) and ordered a Modelo Especial from my new buddy, Luciano. I wanted to order a sandwich, but it was before 11am, so I had to wait. Luciano was cool and let me take my beer to a table where I found some buddies and he would add the beer to my bill when I ordered lunch. Coincidentally, he was taking care of my buddies at the table. Probably because they all started at the bar as well! When the magic hour of 11am came upon us, Luciano came and took my order as well the order of the others at the table, along with another round of drinks to prepare us for a day of golf. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Wrap ($15). Large flour tortilla filled with BBQ chicken, bacon, coleslaw, avocado, tomato,and shredded cheddar cheese. I really wanted just a chicken wrap, so I meant to order without BBQ sauce, but I forgot. I was afraid it would just be drenched in sauce and the only thing I would taste is too sweet BBQ sauce. I had no previous experience with their BBQ sauce, I was just speculating. The wrap came out very quickly and that is when I remembered I did not want the BBQ sauce, DANG! Well, turns out there was a very light application of BBQ sauce and what was on it was tasty. The fries were good and hot, and I shared those with my table mates. I chomped up the very tasty and fresh first half the wrap. The chicken was not dried out, the cole slaw was nice and crunchy, the bacon was a little tough, and the tomato, avocado and cheese were nice. I put the other half of the wrap in a to-go box to take with me on the course. The wrap was so good, I could not stop thinking about it and I ate the second half before we were done with the second hole. Service was 5 stars, the food was a solid 3.5 stars, so all in all a good day and I would eat here again and get the same thing. For prices of restaurant food these days, a wrap and fries for $15 seems like a killer deal. I spent more on a couple pints of Modelo! If you are there for golf or if you just want a nice place to sit on a huge patio, go check out the Farmhouse Grill. Go. Eat Well. HAVE FUN! read more

We are from Chicago, came here for brunch after my daughter's college graduation. They didn't have brunch and we just missed breakfast. They have a nice breakfast menu! I had the cheeseburger (4/5), which was a very solid option. Bun was excellent. Burger was cooked well, with a touch of pink. Good sour pickle. I took off the onions. Fries were average (3/5). My daughter had the tacos and really liked them. My wife had the tuna melt. Overall, the food was good, not exceptional. But we ate outside on a sunny day in December and we watched people hitting at the driving range. Would try again, but would definitely come earlier and try breakfast! read more

We've come here for years Their Waldorf salad is to die for. Their service is sporadic, but we were okay with it because their staff has always been really nice. But today was a disaster. My wife was excited to go there for Mothers Day. We went there with her sister and our youngest son. Neither of them had been there, and were looking forward to going after hearing us talking about it so much. When we arrived there and found out that they were closed for a special event. And it wasn't even happening in the restaurant. It was in the barn. Having owned restaurants myself, and been in sales for 57 years. What an insult to their regular customers. We had an extremely disappointing experience today at the Farmhouse Grill. We arrived at 11:10 am and were promptly seated on an outside table on the patio next to the lawn area. There was a large party seated next to us. No one came to us after 15 minutes so we went up to the hostess and asked to be moved inside. She was very apologetic and promised to get our server right away. Told us it was just as busy inside and there was no need to move. Our server showed up about 10 minutes later and was clearly frazzled but apologetic. She told us she was slammed with tables inside as well as out. It seemed like they were very under staffed for a Sunday on a holiday weekend. She finally brought us water and took our lunch order. Almost 30 minutes later there was no sign of her again. We looked for the manager, but no luck. The hostess told us they were very behind on breakfast orders and hadn't started lunch yet! Why hadn't we been told when we placed a lunch order?! Now we had been sitting there for over an hour with only a glass of water and an occasional apologetic waitress. At 12:20 we walked out. We do not place fault on the server. She had no back up whatsoever, trying to serve a large party outside while serving tables inside as well. The place seemed very poorly run! We will never return and we're so disappointed. read more

Been here twice for work brunches and have enjoyed both times! We come in the early morning on a weekday so it's pretty quiet, mostly with early bird golfers. I've gotten the California Omelette both times which has been delicious. I always ask for a side of pico de gallo which they make fresh there and it is so tasty. The omelette also comes with a side of country potatoes (actually really nice and crispy!) and toast (wheat, rye, sourdough, or english muffin). Love the toast with a side of packaged jam though I wish strawberry butter was available on the weekdays. Service is good and when we had a retirement brunch here, they were kind enough to help us get situated outside and even helped us get our decorations together. Though the menu is small, the items they have are good and always consistent! You really can't go wrong with the breakfast burrito either if you are not an omelette person and they are really nice about making changes like if you want different meats or veggies (within reason). Wish their weekend menu was available because I really want to try the chilaquiles or biscuits and gravy. I get the feeling this place gets pretty crowded on the weekends, especially when they have their specialty brunches (which I've heard are great). If you want a nice quiet breakfast on a weekday with a pretty view, this is definitely the place to check out! read more

We were trying to find a new place to enjoy a good morning breakfast (or lunch) out in the open with fresh air, where we could enjoy beautiful views, and that wasn't a little box located in another boring strip mall....and happened to stumble across this place.....why I never knew about this place before is a total head-scratcher to me. Ok, with places such as this, one normally come here for the views while sacrificing in the quality of the food, and perhaps service. However, we were very pleasantly surprised at this find and have officially designated this place as our go to breakfast spot! Just a short and very nice drive up past the Strawberry farm you drive along a scenic road with golf course views that take you right up to the club house parking area....there's plenty of parking, but it does get filled up pretty quick due to all the people coming here for their round of golf.....no, there is no membership required and anyone can come here. And where the Farmhouse Grill is located, you have a wide beautiful view of the driving range where you can watch the golfers doing their thing. The restaurant is a nice country style house with indoor, outdoor open and covered patio dining areas. We really wanted to enjoy the fresh morning air and views, so we chose to sit at an outdoor open patio table....with an umbrella.....in my opinion, this was the best spot where we could enjoy unobstructed views of the driving range and a little garden area ...where it looks like wedding celebrations would take place. Before coming here, I had also read that the service was really slow due to the shortage of staff. Ok, I must say that when we were arrived, there was no host at the entrance podium, so we eventually had to flag down a server, who basically told us to sit anywhere we liked. I was a bit nervous and thought that, if this is any indication of the service, then we were in trouble. However, once seated, our server was really nice, friendly, and helpful.....despite the place being pretty crowded by this time....about 9.30am on a Saturday. By 10-10.30 am however, most guests had left. I asked the server if it's normally like this? He replied no, that this was unusual, and that the day before the place was so packed with a line of people waiting for a table. Anyway, we went ahead and ordered an egg white California omelet (without bacon) with sourdough toast, the veggie omelet with rye toast, and a small stack of pancakes. Each of the omelets came with a serving of their breakfast potatoes and some strawberries...I was told were freshly picked from their farms here. Just so that we could enjoy it more, we ordered a side of fresh strawberries. Overall, a very enjoyable experience here. Ok, they got our veggie omelet wrong by putting bacon in it, but that was promptly taken care of and we got a whole new freshly made omelet...with just a short wait. Everything was very well prepared, delicious, went great with their freshly picked strawberries, and all this enjoyed with these gorgeous outdoor views. Seriously, what else could you ask for in the perfect breakfast experience? Oh, and the prices are still very reasonable as compared to other places that have substantially increased their prices for an average (or below average) experience. Located on a golf course next to Tanaka Farms, this restaurant isn't visible from the parking lot. You'll find it on the back side of the clubhouse next to the driving range. Lots of indoor tables and even more patio and outdoor seating. I took a seat on the uncovered portion of the patio on a pleasant & sunny day to be entertained by golfers of all skill levels whacking balls on the driving range. It was late morning so I ordered breakfast: eggs benedict with fried potatoes plus a side of bacon and some coffee. The coffee was brought first; a bit weak but not bad. The eggs benedict was perfect. Not eye-popping-amazing but very good. The potatoes were also tasty, a mix of mostly large cubes with some tinier, crunchy pieces mixed in. They were seasoned well so I didn't really use much of the provided ketchup, The bacon was delicious as bacon just is...although perhaps a bit overly greasy. Service was excellent for the first half of breakfast and then became unfathomably slow when it came time to pay. But this is more of a place for a leisurely meal (and apparently a destination for gal pals of all ages to celebrate a birthday). The lunch/dinner menu has some good options. I imagine that due to the relaxed ambience of this place I'll be back to sample them. read more

We went there Saint patrick's day sat outside on the beautiful patio area. My wife had the St. Patrick's Day special of corn beef and cabbage tacos and a beer. I had their bowl of chili and their angus beef patty melt with fries. I also had a couple of beers. Service was good, But it's one of those places where you better get Your order in very quickly as the wait staff seems to take awhile coming back to take your order if you delay. No terrible. Definitely not what I expected for a ritzy golf course. The food is very Dennys-ish but for a last minute get together, I'm not mad about it. The servers are all super nice. The only thing I would work on is the food/menu situation. For a Saturday, breakfast shouldn't be ending at 11. That's when most people wake up lol. Also, half of our table got breakfast while the other half got lunch. But the first half had eaten their food and was awkwardly sitting there waiting for the lunch group to get their food and eat. It should have been made clear that the kitchen needed time to turn over. All in all, food was ok. The club sandwich was by far better than everything else. The bbq wrap was too mushy. May I suggest using crispy chicken instead? And the Chilla Quiles we're soggy before it hit the table. The chips need to be thicker in my opinion. Patio seating ends at 1pm. We arrived right around 1pm on a Sunday and were advised it would be a 15-20 minute wait for inside seating. Not organized for seating. Saw people arrive after us and be seated by another staff outside, then another waitstaff inform of the closed patio and move the group. Then another group walked up and sat at the vacated table and were told patio was closed. The host had left the stand and was not in sight. Having been through this scenario before at other places where our table was given away to a new arrival because of a missing host, I checked in with waitstaff as soon as I noticed an open table inside and we were quickly seated. Service was pleasant. It is very loud inside. Food average. They have a kids menu that includes hot dog, chicken tenders, grilled cheese. My previous experiences have always been positive with polite waiters. However, regarding my party's experience today, I must write a review for 1 star for our waiter today. It's a party of 6 people. One of my friends arrived first and was given a table for 6 by the receptionist. The rest of us arrived soon after. Unfortunately, one person couldn't make it last minute. A waiter arrived and immediately told us rudely that we're not supposed to sit here since we're only five people. The first friend who arrived responded to him that the receptionist brought her to this table. Following, when we were supposed to take our order, the waiter peremptorily interrupted my friend's order to demand that we take our orders in the sequence that he commanded- telling us who should order first. The vibe was already clearly off, so I said at a normal tone, "I'll write a review". He immediately became polite after that. Why did it take me saying that I'll leave a review for him to become polite? The attitude was completely unacceptable at such a restaurant. There weren't other tables that only "accommodate 5 people", so us being a party of 5 would still end up with the exact same setup. The waiter looked like a Hispanic man in his late 30's to 40's. Beautiful location right on a golf course/ strawberry farm. The ambiance in a flowers everywhere looked beautiful. We were quickly greeted when we sat down and the simple menu made it easy to get it going. The only argument I would have is it took a little bit longer than hoped due to the size of the party we came with. However, I won't hold that against them. It was still very tasty. I had an omelet with their hash browns and ordered side of fresh fruit. My wife had the breakfast burrito and the kids both got the pancakes. Everything was made to order and tasted delicious. (Yes I tasted everyone's.... #DadTax.) It does get quite busy so I would definitely recommend getting there as soon as possible but expect a wait if you have a party of over four. The positive note is you can kill time by watching the golfers in the driving range and enjoying the beautiful gardens. The presentation of the food was also very beautiful. So Farmhouse Grill has a very basic concept consisting of a restaurant overlooking a beautiful golf course. It has good food that is simple, nothing special but reliable. Think breakfast that you might eat at a hotel brunch etc. As for the service, it's awful...and let me be the first to applaud the understaffed waitstaff who are trying their best considering there's like 1 server for 10-20 tables. At the end of the day, I think they need to upgrade their menu and make it fresh. I bet they haven't changed their menu since opening in 1997. Give me a break. I get that you don't change what works. The staff and servers were excellent; however the management was not responsive at all to customers needs. We arrived just as breakfast was ending and changing over to lunch. We were told that we would have to wait 20 minutes to get seated because of the changeover. After 30 minutes we were seated. We ordered food and were not served anything but drinks until an hour and a half after arriving. I had talked to the manager at the 1 hr point and he just offered the excuse of the turnover of menus. I have eaten here many times for breakfast and lunch and never had this experience before. Our check arrived with no apologies, no discount and no offer of dessert for our unpleasant experience. If you're like me, you may be thinking that a restaurant at a Golf Course/Country Club would be incredibly overpriced and overrated, but let me dispel any misconceptions about the Farmhouse Grill... this restaurant is worth it! I went with a family of 7, which includes 2 kids under 2, and we were greeted with nothing but positive hospitality. We arrived to the restaurant at 8am, so it was bright and early enough to beat the crowds. We were seated right away without any issue, and we had amazing service (at least in the beginning of our meal). Let me start by saying that every restaurant in Irvine is pretty overpriced post-pandemic, but the Farmhouse Grill is incredibly affordable compared to the rest of Irvine! If our family went to a typical Brunch restaurant at the Spectrum or Fashion Valley, we would be expecting to pay at least $15-$20 per person, but the prices here are very reasonable! The value of the restaurant is definitely a 5/5. I had the Southwest Omelet with eggwhites (it's always a plus that a restaurant offers eggwhites without adding any additional charges). I also had a coffee with free refills. All of their omelets were good! Although they weren't out of this world, I would give the omelets a 4/5! As mentioned, service was great in the beginning! During the later half of brunch was a bit of a different story. As more people started trickling into the restaurant, I started to realize that there were staff were less and less attentive. I don't fault the staff one bit because they were just incredibly understaffed, but we had to flag our waiter down 20 minutes after our meal was done before we could get our receipt. I would give their service a 3.5/5. Finally, the ambiance was amazing! What a nice view on such a bright day. Can't get better than that! Not only is this restaurant beautiful to enjoy dining at, it has wonderful service and food. They were accommodating for a vegan as well and that is so important these days. The hostesses were charming and the waiter was great! If you had Farmhouse Grill pens that you could add a dollar to the bill if they want to keep it would help the wait staff. We will be back! The friendly server was really busy and we only saw her a few times while other servers brought our food and drinks. Tri-tip salad was very filling for one person but the taste was nothing to brag about. My friend ordered the soup & sandwich of the day: delicious New England clam chowder paired with a plain Turkey and Swiss. Our server was kind enough to bring some au jus sauce for the sandwich; it made it better to eat but didn't help the taste. Thoroughly enjoyed their hot chocolate but, of course, it was helping me fight off the chill that day. It would have been nice if they turned on the patio heaters. By the time we finished our lunch, it was packed inside, on the patio, and the extra two tables in the side garden. We roamed around to find a red barn where they host events. Great picture opportunity in front of and on the side of the barn. Tip: Parking can be pretty tight so carpooling is encouraged. My friend loves this place and says the dessert is the best (which we didn't have time to order); guess I'll try that on the next trip. read more

While waiting I noticed a couple get seated, were handed menus, and greeted with a warm welcome. Then the waiter looked over at me and told someone to notify a (female waitress) she had someone. The waitress came over and was very nice, no apology for me waiting so long. Asked if I wanted a menu which I thought was odd. I asked for a Chardonnay and she brought me one , however never told me what it was. I ordered chips and salsa while waiting for my husband to finish golf. Good salsa and fresh chips. We ordered the French dip and the shrimp Caesar salad. Both were good. Seating is outdoors I asked if I could sit by a heater and was told there are many out there. When I went into the back deck all seats with heaters were taken except for two large tables of 6 which I did not want to take up. I ended up with no heater and a bit cold. This is our group experience with the head hostess this past Sunday . we were a big party (20 people) and asked (patty was her name) to sit us either inside or outside , we were seated inside on two separate tables and then thought ok if we are to sit separate why not sitting at the tables on the patio to enjoy the beautiful day. We partly moved outside as patty told us she can serve 12 people only (12 of us moved outside) and then she came back to us with a bad attitude , trying to force us to sit back inside!!! However, giving it 1 stars today because of its reservation policy which they do not announce on their website nor on its voice recording. Having read a negative online review re: them not taking walk-ins for Easter brunch, I wanted fo make sure we can take our 80 yo mother here for Mother's Day. Checked their website re policy and no mentions of reservation requirement. To further confirm, we called during business hours and got a recording. The recording specifically stated that seating is on a first come first serve basis. Feeling confident that we had double checked, we walked in on Mother's Day at 10ish and guess what, got turned away for not having a reservation. When I told them the steps I took to ensure that no reservation was required, one of the comments they said was there was a (presumably Mother's Day special) menu online. Yes there is a link to "Full Menu" on its website but why would anyone click into a menu link when you're looking for reservation info?? Anyway, disappointed that they didn't fix their website or recording after a complaint on Easter. Beware of its reservation policy and call ahead to talk to a live person. It's a nice place to go for breakfast if in the area. They have outdoor and indoor seating and don't need any reservations, I like to sit outside. If you don't see a server to seat you, just sit yourself down at a table and a server will get to you. It's usually very quiet except for the sounds of the driving range nearby.
